The hotel is spotlessly clean, the rooms are quite small but well looked after.
There were no TV channels that I wanted to watch other than the news and they all had a pretty bad signal. I think the rest of the channels were in German or Turkish, neither of which I can understand. The pool is very small but clean.
We had a Turkish Bath in the hotel which, I thought it was quite good and a nice thing to do whilst on holiday but I felt that it was a bit embarrassing to have someone scrub you. The lady massage therapist was very nice.
One thing that I didn't like was that one evening a Jewellery shop came to the hotel and put on a show and gave out 'prizes'( which are nothing but little Turkish Eyes on a pin etc) to the guests in attempt to get them to come and spend money in their shop. It was all a bit bizarre, confusing and badly organised! The belly dancers were awful but the other dancing group of men and women were good. It would be fine if it was just a show but it clearly wasn't; it was all in aid of promoting the jewellery shop.
Nearby the hotel on the main road there are lots of silly shops which sell overpriced fake branded clothes and bags, they are expensive and everything weirdly was priced in Euros but might be ok if you haggle. If you carry on walking though towards the Bazar there are some nicer clothes shops. We went to the Bazaar on a Friday and it was full of lovely fruit and vegetables
I would recommend getting up early to walk up the hill/ mountain to view of the city.
We went to Dim Cay, a place which has lots of restaurants with swimming facilities situated on the river which is extremely cold and fresh. I would recommend this but you need to make sure you go to the right restaurant when you get off the number 10 bus as some of them are very quiet. The one that looked the best was called DimCayi Pinarbasi, Water Paradise. It was the second to last stop at Dim Cay.
Overall I would say it was a very good small hotel with very close proximity to the beach and excellent food.
The good:
- Decent wifi. Worked all around the hotel and also in our room.
- Free safe in the room which was very appreciated
- The staff were helpful when we needed help and were very friendly.
- The location is also really good. Close to Mcdonald’s and Burger King (which you’ll later read I really needed). Very close to all the clubs and the strip and plenty of shops and restaurants all around the corner.
Now…… the bad:
- The pool, just horrendous. It’s small with about 20 sunbeds which wasn’t too bad for us as we came late august - but any other time of the year I feel would be very sparse. There are flies around the pool that honestly do not leave you alone. They’re on you constantly so you’re spending the whole time swatting them away.
- The rooms are basic. Not ideal. Mini fridge wasn’t cold, air con is not great, our twin room was absolutely tiny - when you opened the door it was close enough to hit the end of your bed. The showers temperature changes every 2 seconds and there’s no drainage in the bathroom so the floor just stays soaking wet from your showers for the entire holiday basically. There were cockroaches in our room which honestly made me feel sick but thank you to the staff for removing them.
- The food……… this was honestly close to ruining my entire holiday. There’s absolutely no choice at all. If you’re a fussy eater or just want any basic food do not bother at all. It’s all Turkish soups and stews. There’s no labels at all so you have no idea what you’re eating and allergies? Non existent apparently cause you’ll have no idea what’s in your food. No toaster for toast in the morning, no english breakfast food at all, no waffles / pancakes, no chips, no pizza, no burgers, no chicken, honestly nothing ideal. Had to spend a fortune just eating out every night instead. No ice cream or anything which I found surprising as it was almost reaching 40 degrees when we were there.
- The staff aren’t really attentive, didn’t ever ask us if we wanted a drink with our meals but seemed to be doing it with everyone else? Not really sure why. One of the staff members asked why I was only eating bread so we told him there wasn’t much variety with food to which he just laughed and walked away.
I don’t really like to give bad reviews to be honest, but I don’t think the reviews for this place aligned with the hotel at all and I just wanted to give an honest picture of what the hotel was like and our experience with it.
I liked it - strategic location in the center of Alanya, close to the beach, the cable car station to the castle and to the harbor and shopping center.
Friendly ,helpful and fun staff, fantastic Turkish gastronomy and tea.
In the bar near the pool (open 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.) you can have local drinks .
There is the Turkish bath in the hotel with possibility to choose different kind of massage.
On the beach you must pay deck chair and parasol.
Downside - if you get a room at left side of the hotel with windows to the street and the room is on lower levels, there is a big chance of unwanted visitors when you are away.
Nice location, max 3 min to the beach.
Altogether, I must give Poor rating due to noisy ambiance and unbearable heat in our room.
Good sides:
- friendly staff,
- excellent food,
- nice location.
Bad sides:
- small and hot room,
- noisy environment,
- bad quality drinks.
