Hotel Abou Sofiane offers a polarizing experience; while the staff is often praised for their attentiveness and the variety of entertainment available, some guests have reported disappointments. Many travelers find the hotel's value lacking, pointing to the outdated and sometimes unclean rooms and issues with food supply.
The amenities draw mixed reviews, with mentions of both enjoyable activities and concerns over maintenance and overcrowding. Despite the lively atmosphere, criticisms of repetitive music and worn decor suggest the hotel may benefit from some updates.

Detailed Reviews
After what happened in 2015 RIP to innocent victims. I was so looking forward to going back, and I must say I weren't disappointed at all. Stayed at this hotel with my husband yes areas of it are very dated and in need of alot of tlc. Our room yes was in need of repair and updating, door.leading to balcony needed repair but we were able to lock it bathroom very dated and grubby.
House keeper lovely woman always clean towels skipped slightly on actual cleaning and in the whole of the week bedding only changed once, but given how many rooms they had to do we weren't that bothered as we prefer to make on beds anyway.
Carpets throughout the hallways dirty and thread bear, there was an incident in a room a room couple if doors down from ours and the evidence of it was left out for visitors to see. Blood cover bedding not a pretty sight to see. Dirty plates in hallways broken glass on 1 corridor that had been there for at least 4days if our stay before been removed.
Food horrendous personally I am a fussy water but my husband isn't and even he got fed up of it been the same. I lived on soup and bread roll for a while week,.would.of been nice if there had been chips but the only time you could get them was out by the pool and if you liked sharing them with the amount of flys i saw landing on them then fine but not for me.
The man from the jewellery shop very annoying he literally hounded my husband the whole week we were there not very professional and to be honest unnerving especially when he even came yo me while I was sunbathing at the pool.
Now the good
The lady that made the doughnuts wow don't normally eat them but they were yummy.
Always didn't matter what part of the day it was managed to get a bed by the pool yes there were towels on most of them but managed to get 1and plenty of space to put it.
Reception staff and bank clerk all extremely friendly. Bar staff all apart from mr grumpy were extremely polite and friendly and to be honest half way through the week even Mr grumpy started to come round, soufaine what I can i say about this young man he is 1 in a million always had a smile on his face when he saw us such a nice genuine person such a pleasure to meet. Most people say to.get the best service from people is to tip them and they will run round after you this is aload of rubbish. We didn't tip until the end of our holiday and we always got 100%service from all the bar staff. Personally I think if you treat them with respect and not that they are to be there at your becon call you get on much better.
The guy that comes round selling excursions top guy spent most of our money with him but omg the quads etc absolutely fantastic husband loved them so much we even went private.
All in all absolutely fantastic holiday would I go back to this hotel yes just to see some of the staff again. Would I stay there again probably if I new that the while of the hotel had been updated and not just parts of it.

Travelled as 2 families in a party for 7.. we did have a great holiday however we wouldn't return to this hotel.
The best thing about this hotel is the friendly animation team! Special mention to Max for all the laughs!
The restaurant staff were also fantastic and made sure we were well looked after! The main reason we wouldn't return is because there wasn't enough variety of food for us. We did always manage to find something to eat but we did end up eating out quite a bit due to the lack of variety/quality on offer. There was also inconsistencies such as there maybe pancakes on offer at the pool snack bar at 3pm one day but not the next?!
Great service from both bars but again the poor quality/choice of alcohol available let them down!
WiFi is pretty much non existent which is unacceptable! Although I complained about this on many occasions, even to the hotel director, the issues still weren't address when we left.
The pool area is a real hazard and we saw many people slip over including my own children, even without running! The tiles around the whole pool are smooth and even though there was 2 lifeguards on duty (I use this term very loosely as they spent most of their time on their phones and even asleep once!) Nothing was done to rectify this. In 2 weeks we only saw them removing water from around the pool once and this was only because someone had slipped over yet again! Not acceptable. Something needs to be done about this and if not then then lifeguards need to be removing the water (with squeegees that they have!) A few times per day to stop a serious accident happening!

It was a decent hotel for not very demanding tourists. Simple rooms, great cleaning service, safe in the room. Food was also good, not huge variety of food but you still can choose from many options, incuding food from grill during dinners. Animation team was indeed great, there was some competiton every evening, it´s a pitty we didn´t have a chance to see any show prepared by animation but maybe next time. What is more concerning is the beach and the pool. Be carefull about the beach, sand is not properly raked and something in the sand even stang me in the foot, which made walking difficult because of pain and blood. Moreover you have to take mattress for sunbed by yourself and as I did one morning I didn´t see brick which was put at the top of it and as it fell, it dig my calf to blood. Now I have not nicely looking scar. Not to mention that I couldn´t be in water long time as it hurt. So just be carefull at the beach. However, very positive is bar at the beach. The water in the pool should be cleaned more often as during the afternoon you can see many strange things swimming in there. It is quite disgusting to swim in it. There are options for minigolf (5holes, very small), petanque which was really great and basically really good animation program during the day around the pool.
The hotel is close to the port, where are some good shopping opportunities. Regarding the noise, during the night it can be really loud due to the night programme.

The worst vacation I've ever had.
After ten years of daily toil, I wanted to take my family on vacation so we don't have to cook and take care of the daily routine, so I booked this hotel in this all inclusive destination.
I have been in gastronomy for twenty years, but what I experienced in seven days here, I am surprised that it still works. The rooms are a bit crazy (cockroaches in the room, the shower is on a different side than it should be, so everything flows directly into your bedroom, a moldy fridge, stuffed in the corridor, a condom right next to it, a non-functional television, an installation torn from the wall and that
and sockets and switches in the entire room).
The restaurant on offer from Bluestyle is overflowing with food. The reality of breakfast is one plate with salami (probably from a cat), another plate with probably cheese, bread with which you would break someone's head, and vegetables are miserable.
Lunch, you stand in line and get four pieces of meat about a centimeter by a centimeter, but only if there is any left on your plate, and if there is any left, with someone else's lunch. Plates, cutlery, glasses all dirty. Dinner stinks from the grill, almost raw fish and otherwise like lunch.
They put everything in a 1dcl cup, and when they run out, they collect them in a basket and simply rinse them in the sink where there is one water all day. On the beach, he opens a bar whenever he wants, there is such an arrogant dirty Tunisian and everything smells musty, and he also takes out the trash when he runs out of cups. And if you don't put it in their pocket, everything just happened. For us, never again to this continent or with this travel agency.

A hotel has to be exceptional to get 5 stars. This means it cannot be bettered. There are a few issues here but these are fairly minor. The first is location. Close to the beach and its watersports which include jetskis, parachuting and the inflatable settee, and the beach bar. However, it is a good ten minutes walk from the nearest shops and a further ten minutes taxi to the port of El Kantaoui. (It is however even with a tip it is only 10 Dinar to get into the port from one of the yellow taxis outside the hotel.
The market shop by the pool contans products none of which are priced, and like in many places in Tunisia, everything is negotiable. I would expect retail units in the hotel to be priced and not out to fleece as much out of guests as they can.
No limits to drinks and the barmen are fun, but they are watered down - again this seems to be the case in most all inclusive resorts in Tunisia.
Food very same sort of thing every day but the kitchen was clean and never a problem finding a chair in the dining room.
Good first impressions. We had barely got our cases off the coach and a member of staff had given us a drink. Reception staff very approachable and can speak and understand English. (as can most staff).
The maids in this hotel are the unsung heroes. Rooms cleaned every day to a high standard. Always bottled water left in the room, along with clean towels and sheets daily.
All staff very polite and courteous.
High point of this hotel was the animation team, led by Max. His team provided an infectious enthusiasm for their day and night entertainment programme. I would like to express a special thank you to Leo, whose calm and friendly nature made everyone welcome from day one..
Our holiday was in the latter part of September. A la carte restaurant and indoor pool were not working.
Rooms on the ground fllor have not yet been modernised, so if you want a walk in shower, make sure you get a room on the upper floors. Rooms at the front of the hotel could be a bit noisy as there is a noisy neighbouring hotel who have a tendency to paly music quite late. No ATM at the hotel, but guests can use the one opposite to get cash out, and are welcomed. Same with hairdresser - not open in September, but the one in the hotel opposite welcomes guests from Abu Sofiane.
This is a mid range hotel that provides good value for money and a good holiday. Book with confidence.

This was our 10th visit to this hotel and we were glad to go back. We were treated like royalty from the moment we stepped through the doors and previous staff remembered us. The manager upgraded our room to a sea view/pool view/garden view room with a king size bed. The hotel had only reopened on the first of June following covid so they were finding their feet again. We were well looked after by all the staff but a special mention has to go to Raafat in the pool bar he was so hard working and really made sure we had drinks whenever we wanted them ,a really nice person. We used to go to the beach bar belonging the hotel and sit and people watch which we were looking forward to but as not stated in the love holiday description it didn't belong to the hotel anymore it was sold and the owner turned it into a very tacky a la carte. Might I add she was quite rude making a point that it was private, hence we didn't eat there. The animation team were good, the life guard brought mattresses towels and a small table to your sunbed for you each day. There were also sunbeds for the guests on the beach too. On the downside there were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room and the food was pretty abysmal but having said that we were the only two English there as the British have not started returning yet so I suppose that is why they didn't cater for us. All in all a brilliant holiday and we are looking forward to going back.

If you book with TUI UK, don't be fooled by the 4-star overall rating just don't book!!! I am so surprised TUI works with this hotel because they usually provide high-quality service, and this time we feel so disappointed. There is nothing TUI can do, even though we asked to change the hotel from day one.
To start with, this hotel is definitely not a 4-star hotel. I would probably rate it 2 or 3 stars at most. You enter the hotel to find a quite dirty lounge with all the chairs being wet and stained. The rooms look good, but the smell is very unpleasant, with a definite odor of mold, although it's not visible, probably hidden under the double roof. The toilets are awful—you'll be lucky to find toilet paper and one clean toilet to use, so it's better to use the toilets in the rooms.
The swimming pool is so small that you feel like a sardine in a can, and the surrounding area is so wet that people are constantly slipping. There is no one maintaining the safety of this area like in other hotels.
And now the worst part: the food and overall service in the restaurant. There are very limited choices, and the food is usually very cold, even when it should be warm. You wait 10 minutes in the queue for drinks only to find out there are no glasses. Forget about getting pizza or crepes unless you want to queue for 50 minutes. When you ask for a beer, they tell you beers are only available at the bar, and then you see other tables being served with beers and drinks. People are pushing you, getting full plates of food that you then see being wasted.
The animation team and waiters are doing their best, but they even feel ashamed of the customers' behavior. They say there's no point in improving the service because most customers are from poor countries. We raised a complaint with the manager, and they just said they agree, are sorry, but there's nothing they can do.
Forget about getting a place next to the swimming pool or the beach unless you wake up at 6 am, which is not what I want to do on holidays. So again, don't make the same mistake and book this 4-star hotel, which in fact is a 2-star hotel unless you have very low expectations.

Stay away from this hotel, although some of the staff are hardworking and friendly, the hotel website and Love Holidays rate this as a 4 star, it was a one star at best..
Hotel & Cleanliness - On arrival at the hotel, the reception looks ok and the concierge was a lovely older gentleman really friendly and helpful, however as we walked to our room, the smell from the corridors was horrendous as they stank of foul urine, dirty food and cots everywhere very unclean and foul smells every day.
Room - The room was adequate and seemed clean on arrival, however we had leaks in the bathroom from the left hand side of the sink and bath has two cracks the water was slowly leaking onto bathroom floor which we had to put towels down on the floor to take the water away. My husband stubbed his toe on numerous occasions on the cracked floor tiles. The hairdryer had an orange bright light coming out of it, there was a burnt out with smoke coming out of it. I think the leak from bathroom sink was tripping the hairdryer out and it was definitely unsafe to use. (photos attached)
I asked Hotel Manager to get maintenance to fix however only the sink was repaired, the 2 leaks were still happening when we left after a week and the hairdryer was never sorted. We also paid for an upgraded room with a sea view with balcony however our view was restricted by a massive aquapark in between our limited sea view.
Food - They do not cater for vegetarians, minimal food if you do not eat meat or fish.
We paid for all inclusive and we are not big drinkers, so all inclusive was more about us eating food, however some of the staff were limiting the food you could have, only allowing you to have one slice of omelette this was the only thing that I could eat, their version of salad was red cabbage no spinach or lettuce. The menu had no labels so you could not identify what was in the food so I only ate pastries, mash potato, omelette and scrambled egg for a week. There were no plates, utensils and when there were any they were dirty and I saw both staff & guests picking food up and putting it back in the food trays.
Pool - I did not feel comfortable sitting in the pool area, as I had a bikini on, I stayed by the beach at all times.
Some people do not adhere to a queue system they push in and this causes arguments this included a fight at the hotel bar area, a guy punched an English lady and he was arrested.
Beach - My husband & I spent all our time on the beach, as it was beautiful and long stretch of beach for walking, as I love walking.
We were also very grateful for the Security team, they kept the sellers from coming too near to us and we felt safe with them there, they were a good support and friendly at all times.
We also had a fabulous bar person called Weal, he was brilliant from day one and looked after us daily
I just want to warn others not to spend your hard earned money on this hotel

Dear Fiona, Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry your stay fell short of expectations. Maintenance addressed the sink issue, and we’re following up to ensure all repairs are completed. We strive to accommodate dietary needs, and we encourage guests to inform us in advance for personalized options. Your concerns about food service are noted, and we’ll work to improve it further. Having been a regular visitor to Tunisia for over 30 years this is an honest review.
This is not a hotel I would return to at the present time. It could be we went at the wrong time.
Overall this hotel needs a good clean up.
The staff are good but most need a lesson on cleaning.
Tables were never cleaned when glasses collected inside or out.
Floors not cleaned in public areas very often, same with toilets. Had to mention to reception on several occasions they needed mopping.
Only one place to get hot water for cup of tea was at inside bar. As a couple we only drink water and tea/coffee during the daytime so rather a pain having to come for a cuppa if on beach or by pool.
No urn by tea area had to queue, needs addressing
On occasion ran out of lemonade and sprite. On having a word with BEN KARIM (thank you)this was addressed.
Many of the 1 star reviews I think are attributed to the time of an extreme amount of certain clientele in the hotel were extreme amounts of food was wasted. After most dispersed food and restaurant area improved. This is not a racial comment just a cultural comment.
Special thanks to all reception and bank staff, Ben KARIM, Abdi and Mohammed in restaurant and our cleaner.
Could be improved in several areas and would be happy to advise.
Reception
Easy check in and always helpful and cheerful.
Room 3008
Good clean room, decent garden view, very quiet,
Cleaner very good.
All bars
Good service
Restaurant
Had a lovely waiter Abdi (thankyou) at breakfast and lunch very good always kept his area spotless. Last couple evenings had Mohammed as waiter, wish he’d been there for all of holiday. Food needs addressing. Not much assortment of fruit.
Snack bar.
Cannot really comment as didn’t use.
Pool area.
Needed a good clean.
Would be better if paper/plastic cups used as on several occasions glasses broken and not cleaned up properly as staff not advised by clientele.
Animation
Excellent group.

Abou Soffiane looked great online and boasted a 4 star experience, I experienced for negatives then positives.
Staff: The staff are welcoming and friendly. Occasionally appear to be off task and can sometimes be hard to find.
Facilities: 4/10 The hotels that offer a wide range of amenities such as swimming pools, fitness centers, aqua park and complimentary services like Wi-Fi which was slow and occasionally lost service. Love holidays shows that the resort has a nightclub and a sauna on site neither of which were there.
Room: 4/10 The standard room with a sea view was outdated, needed a lick of paint. Stained bedding and water damaged furniture. Blood stains on the bed. No kettle in the bed room.
Cleanliness: 6/10 Overall the hotel was clean. Main touch points is cleaned throughout the day multiple times.
Entertainment: 3/10 child friendly music is played from 8pm until 10pm. Same music on repeat everyday of the week. Occasionally some modern day music.
Food: Food is great, a small selection of food. Fresh and tasty.
Drinks: Cocktail bar shuts at 8pm. Bar shuts at 11pm. No hot drinks after 11pm. No selection of teas or coffee. Fresh fruit etc which is standard across most resorts.
