Marhaba Palace Hotel offers a prime location praised by guests for its beachside proximity and easy access to local transportation, enhancing its appeal. The service at the hotel generally receives compliments for the staff's attentiveness and friendliness, although some visitors have encountered inconsistent service and tipping pressures. Guests are divided on the value, with some appreciating reasonable deals despite others' concerns over service and amenities. Our stay at Marhaba was our second. We spent there 3 weeks; Christmas and New year. With older and younger family members. We all had a great time. Nothing to complain. Food was good, variant and healthy. Rooms were clean like all the other areas of the hotel too. The outdoor pool was under the maintenance, but who would like to swim there anyway with the cold North wind in December? It will be clean and in use when we come back in April. The staff could not do more for you. And always smile on their faces. The animation team as well as the restaurant did a great job with both galas!
The hotel is very calm and the view is spectacular on both sides; sea on the other and green golf courts and mountains on the other with a breathtaking sunset.
The last 3 floors of the hotel are for smokers, so if the smoke "gets in your eyes" then ask a room from the lower floors. Pay bar should keep the doors closed, because it's the only place where smoking is allowed in public areas and it can be smelled, if sitting near in the lobby.

We had a lovely week at the Marhaba Palace. My husband and I had a beautiful sea view. The staff are generally very friendly and we appreciated having Tunisian specialities at each meal buffet. Well done!
Two comments to make it even better:
Inform people from the beginning that there’ll be a tourist tax to pay in euros at the end (or take it at the start of the stay to avoid the surprise on check-out!)
Also our sons’ bedroom was less equipped than ours (not enough bath robes, for example).

Dear Sinead, Thank you for the feedback. We are very glad you had a pleasant stay at Marhaba Palace, enjoying the Tunisian hospitality :) Regarding the tourist tax yes it has to be usually paid upon check-in and it is mentioned by your travel agency or it should have to. We apologize for any inconvenient during your stay and we look forward to welcoming you again soon. Warmest regards,

When we arrived we were surprised that there was no air con in the room and was told it is only on from June -September. The initial room we had was very humid and when I spoke to reception about the air con not working they moved us to a cooler room without a problem.
The food we had was great with lots of variety even though I am a fairly fussy eater. We particularly liked the croissants and pain au chocolates for breakfast and the variety of food and desserts at lunch times. The evening dinner contained a lot of a fish which we don't tend to eat but there were a other options. Between 3-5 they made fresh pancakes in the reception area.
The day time entertainment was brilliant to keep you busy if you wanted to get involved. They had darts, ping pong, volleyball, bowls, Zumba, yoga, football and Arabic lessons. We didn't stay around many evenings for the entertainment as it was on quite late. Marlou and Kris were brilliant.
Rooms were cleaned and beds were stripped daily.
We went on the camel caravan trip with TUI which is highly recommended, popped to the local town which is a 5 minute walk and went into Sousse for a bit of bargain shopping.
Unfortunately the pool was only 15 degrees and only warm enough for a very quick dip if you were brave enough.
We would definitely return to Tunisia and would return to this hotel.

Suggestions for improvement- replace light bulbs in games room, offer alternative daytime snacks other than pancakes (keep these though as they are delicious) and start the evening entertainment earlier than 9/9.30! Other than those minor things it was a very pleasant stay! I would recommend to anyone looking for an all inclusive resort. Thank you!

Starting from the check-in, the AC is unavailable in the lobby, a blond-haired receptionist was the rudest i've ever met in a hotel: she talks to you as if you're one of the staff member. We ran away to our room and we avoided any contact with her the whole stay, but again she attacked us in the check out; always angry, talks direspectfully, never smiles...

The rooms were clean, however the sheets were dirty and smelly.

The lunch buffet is okay but only for the first time, because you'll have to eat the same thing every single day: chicken, rice, greasy cooked vegetables, some low quality sea food, pizza with fake cheese and really stale dessert.
Breakfast was the best part of the hotel, so i used to force myself to eat beyond my satiety and skip both lunch and dinner.
Snacks in this 5 star hotel were basically leftover of the same stale dessert and tasteless crepes.

The majority of the barmen were friendly.

The pool area surface is super dirty around 5-8am. So the cleaning staff start working when people start swimming.
The pool never gets cleaned up, apparently, as the bottom is always sandy.

Our first night was basically "a table and chairs hunt", nobody wanted to gives us something to sit down on, and most people spend their night standing.

Lastly, animation programs were good.

Not recommended at all.

Dear Fatma, Thank you for the feedback. First of all we are very sad to read that you only had few aspects that you enjoyed like the breakfast and the animation programs. We must say that we are a little bit surprised by some of your comments and we will try to develop. The buffet respects a food cycle that changes every day, while keeping the idea of mixing meat, fish, vegetables etc, so that everyone could find something he enjoys. The sheets are always clean and we had no similar remark regarding this aspect. The pools are cleaned rigorously each evening; we are also certified and audited each 3 months for maintaining the standard of our cleanliness service. Each room has its table and chairs allocated at the moment of the check-in so no one ends up standing. We hope that you will return in the future for another try, being certain that you will totally enjoy your stay with us. Warmest regards,

The reception staff was rude from the first minute. You need to bribe them for an early check in. The ones from the group that paid 10 eur got a room immediately. We did not so we waited and even then the room that we had booked was not available so we needed to move again the next day. While you wait for check in or on the last day for transport they make you leave the bags in the hall for the whole time with no security for your possessions. And so it happened that one of our group got their sneakers stollen on the last day. But magically, after we started talking about calling the authorities, the reception attendant "found" them in the back room!. Cleanliness is a problem all hallways and common areas are seriously neglected, not vacuumed, glass surfaces smudged. The food is not adapted to European standards, overly spiced up and not a good variety of options for a 5*. My husband was surviving on french fries for 7 days.
The a la carte restaurant.. what to say.. they should google what the word means. You get a pre fixed menu of Tunisian food that you usually avoid in the main restaurant
The beach, nothing special, broken umbrellas. Lots of jelly fish in September, so swimming in the sea was almost impossible. Also too little sunbeds and umbrellas so be prepared to get up very early (6am) if you want a spot!
The rooms are okeish, cleaned regularly, but with mold spots in the shower. Needs renovation immediately!
Do Not go on the ATV experience, dessert buggy offers that are in the resort. The buggies were horrible, my helmet was broken, you will be riding in a junk yard and construction site, with a horrible stench of rotting animals. This was such a bad experience that we are now still laughing in disbelief that they are offering it as an attraction.
Ok. Now the Ok things.
The pool area is clean and maintained. The big pool is salt water. The staff around the pool is great both the serving staff and the entertainment staff were working their a***s off. The only tip deserving part of the experience.
They have some entertainment every night, cannot say how good because we were going to bad early so we can get up at 6 to get a sunbed 🤣🤣.
Good mattress, that helped my cause of getting up early!

All in all Tunisia is not ready for 5* tourism. This hotel is like 3* only because of some amenities, most things are 2 at best.

Dear Ivana, Thank you for the feedback. First of all we are so sorry to read that you didn't enjoy your stay with us. We must mention that no one at the front desk gives rooms before the regular check-in time at 14h. We do give rooms gladly and without any money before 14h, if we have the possibility and the hotel is not fully booked. The luggage is under the surveillance of the team all the time and you must consider that a person could have misplaced the sneakers. We understand that you would have loved to swim more but the presence of the jelly fishes in the sea is not something that we can control. We are glad you enjoyed our pools as well as our rooms and we hope that this will be a good premise to come back in the future. Warmest regards,

We stayed at the Marhaba Palace Hotel as a late November get away and we had an amazing time. The rooms are clean and spacious, the food in the buffet restaurant was amazing and the majority of the staff spoke great English which made it easier to communicate.

There are a few things that the hotel could do to make the experience better, one being the arrival system which just didn't work and after a 12-hour journey starting at 3am in the morning the last thing i wanted to do was fill out a long form with information the hotel should have already had from our booking.

We did have a slightly disappointing first night with someone trying to get into our room at midnight waking us up. Followed by a man then knocking on the door. We still don't know if this was maybe someone who had drank too much and went to the wrong room or if they had allocated the room to someone else by mistake and they could not get in as we had locked the door from the inside. We didn't get much of an apology from the reception the next day.

I would say the reception team; considering they are the first point of contact when you get to the hotel; need to work on their smile. They really do look like they don't want to be there.

However, Mackram, Larry and Mila were 100% a turn around to the holiday! They really did work so hard, and not just with us but with everyone.
Mackram was our waiter for the entire week and always made our evening meal something to look forward to.
Larry and Mila (part of the entertainment team) never stopped, literally even when they were eating breakfast they were still speaking to customers, we didnt see them take a break.
I do feel that the entertainment team need to have a bit more of a budget. They are the heart of the hotel, and they are doing as much as they can with the resources they have.

The pool - felt like an ice bath, and was not enjoyable, but certainly gave an entertaining view when watching others try and get in.

In regard to the area itself, the town was very quiet, and it wouldn't be a location i would recommend for women unless they are with a man.
You do get bombarded by men trying to sell boat trips, quad bikes, tours and they really don't know when to quit. My advice for anyone going there is to just keep walking and say, 'no thank you I'm going home today' and don't give them an indication that you are unfamiliar with the place.

Also do not let anyone help you with your bags at the airport or getting on the bus. A man literally put my bag on the bus and then asked me for English £10. Luckily, I'm not stupid and very quickly stated that i didn't even ask him to do it and even if i did i would not be tipping him £10 to do so.

Apart from the little small hiccups it was a fantastic holiday and would i go back? Yes i would!

When arrive at the Marhaba place hotel we where greeted by friendly staff and service and also the entertainment staff called ( Momo,Diago and Amira) tell is about the show on the Friday evening . During the day around the pool you where able to interact with (momo, diago, amira) doing darts, french bowls and archery in the day and also coming over during the day to talk and also in the evening when watching the shows and other activities for the two weeks we where here.
All of the staff have been very friendly and helpful with everything during our stay here, the restaurant staff are great and friendly and the chefs have made some great food and I have tried new things during this stay as I never normal do. Our maid as been great with cleaning our room everyday making beautiful things with flowers and changing our bedding and towels every time so I would like to say a big thank you to her for here help. The bar staff in the main bar and the pool bar where great everyday getting our drinks and chatting with us all the time. The pool men how look after the pool area was great getting the mattress and towels for us.

So a big thank you to all the staff and entertainment team for making it a great holiday and memories.

We spent a week at the hotel and had a thoroughly enjoyable stay
From the moment we arrived the staff were pleasant friendly and attentive
The hotel and grounds are well maintained and extremely clean and tidy.
Our room overlooking the front of the hotel was large comfortable and very clean. The maid who serviced our room did an excellent job and changed our towels daily
There is plenty of space around the pools with comfortable sun beds. Many thanks to Ali the lifeguard who reserved our sunbeds and provided clean towels each morning it was a great service thart he provided
Also we must thank Malik and Armen, two of the waiters around the pool who were very friendly and helpful and kept a continual supply of drinks coming all day. They are a credit to the hotel.
The food in the restaurant was enjoyable and varied, again we must thank Makram our waiter who ensured our drinks were on the table for our arrival at each meal and for the service he gave us
There is direct access to a private beach and the sea. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available on the beach and the sea was clear and very warm
We also used the beach bar at lunchtimes and sgain the food was enjoyable and the staff very pleasant
The town is a short walk away as is the harbour but neither are much to shout about
The only things that let the hotel down are the drinks and evening entertainment.
The drinks are local, not international and are not the best. The animation team work hard throughout the day providing activities both strenuous and leisurely, however their entertainment evening was something akin to party games which is OK for youngsters but not for everyone. A couple of the musical acts were good but other shows were not so good
Those two small gripes aside we would thoroughly recommend the hotel if you want a relaxing holiday and,are not that fussed about venturing out.

Having just stayed at the Marhaba Palace for a week I decided to provide an honest view of this hotel. There are good reviews and also bad reviews, which all carry valid points of this hotel. I will break down my review into good points and bad points, which will hopefully provide you with an idea of what to expect. This is meant to be a 5 star hotel, however having stayed in many hotels set your expectations at about a 3 star.

Good Points:
The hotel is located on the beach which was nice with plenty of sun beds. There are two outdoor pools, the main pool is salt water and the smaller pool fresh water. This we feel should have been the other way round. The pools are clean and there are plenty of sunbeds around each pool, and there is always someone there to help with the mattress and putting up the umbrella. The entertainment staff are good, although they are a little absent at times, and need to engage a little more. The beach restaurant is OK and the food at lunch time is fine with some good choices. The main restaurant is OK and breakfast you can usually find something to have. you can also sit outside while eating and soak up the Sun. There are safes in the bedrooms and a fridge. Separate toilet and then the shower room. The cleaning staff keep the rooms clean and change the towels every day. The location of the hotel is good with the harbor just a 5 mins walk away, and a small park with fair rides and roller-coasters just opposite the harbor, which is not expensive. There are plenty of games for people to join in with during the day, from water polo, to beach volleyball, archery, with some table tennis tables available. The pool staff were great with a small tip, we never went without a drink throughout the day brought to you on your sunbed.

Bad Points:
The bedrooms are tried and most of the furniture has seen better days. The beds are quite hard, handles missing off draws and wardrobes that don't close properly and no shelves to put items on. Most of the main restaurant staff are more interested in talking with each other than noticing you need something. The choice off food in the evening is very poor and it is difficult to find something, we ended up eating out 4 nights out of the 7, which defeats the all inclusive part. The wine is very dry and very cheap, and the quality of the drinks and cocktails is very poor, they use a juice machine for all cocktails, which is water based, so no real juice and very limited choice. There are very few drink choices for the children either. There are only 4 lifts in the hotel and half the time 2 of them did not work, meaning you could wait 10 mins for a lift, and when it came it was full. The children's entertainment in the evening did not start until 9pm and again was quite poor and the adult entertainment was the same.

Overall the hotel is OK if you accept all the above.

I spent 10 lovely days in March in this hotel and I will be happy to return and recommend it to others during the out of season period.

Positives:
The weather was pleasant and sunny.
I loved the reception and the bar area. There was a proper hotel feel about them.)
I quite liked the restaurant, the food and the opportunity to eat outside in the fresh air.
I liked the view outside the bar and the restaurant.
The outside pool and area around it looked lovely.
I really loved the beach and how clean and maintained it was.
I loved the staff and the service in this hotel.
I loved the way I felt while being at this hotel. :-)

So I am going to look for other opportunities to come back.

Constructive criticism(s);

Once I came to the breakfast at 6:30 and the waiter already put the staff like books and bread on the tables which were close to the windows so no one except the people he was saving these tables for could use. I felt quite angry as everyone was allowed to sit where they wanted at breakfast and lunch and not to allow the guest to sit in the lovely spot at 6:30 in the empty restaurant was not nice.

Every morning I swam in indoor swimming pool and it was nice and relaxing experience however the windows in that area need cleaning from both outside and inside as they look unloved.
The carpets in the corridor were not hoovered for a week.

I think that the evening shows start really late. On several occasions I saw many people sitting in the bar in the buzzing atmosphere which would die out with the lack of the entertainment and people returning to their rooms.

The spa experience was really disappointing for me personally as I read good reviews about the spa left by other guests.

My friend and myself booked two different types of hammam packages and I also booked a sports massage.
What I got with my basic package for 50 dinars is 10 minutes in a steam room. Then the lady scrubbed me for 7 minutes. The hair was left dirty.
My friend paid 22 pounds for her hammam package which also included some kind of mud put on her body.
Ironically after hammam we both went straight to the bath in our hotel rooms to finish off our cleaning.

What I did like about "massage" is that the room was very clean and smelled lovely but what I didn't like was the actual massage which is not a massage but more of a stroking of your body in the nice environment.

After this I ended up going to another hotel spa every day to have proper treatments as there was much better equipped spa with a properly trained staff.

It’s not really bad, it just needs some things addressed. The staff make it amazing and there’s lots to do. Just go with an open mind and you’ll be fine!
