Been home around a week now an thought time to give a review

Let’s address the elephant in the room
The hotel IS over 2 hours from Enfidhi airport (longer going back as we was first pick up)
But what I found was everything was so much cheaper because of it from the hotel to activities an just holiday shopping
So have a look at closer hotels for 7 night then this for 10 an you’ll end up paying about the same
Now the hotel this place was top notch.
Weather in early March was a nice 24 an 10 at night
We arrived at 2:15pm walked in our bags were taken in an we was told forget checking in for now get in the restaurant as it closes at 2:30 (which we thought was a really nice touch)
Even thou we went 2 months before season this place was spotless, top to bottom.
The rooms were nice an spaces (pay that little bit extra an get a sea view it’s worth it)
The food was all really good, they always had something potato based alone with a rice an pasta, then 3/4 meat dishes and same on the veg dishes, 3 live stations pizza, grilled fish an a meat (don’t be going looking for nuggets an chips they were both only served once each over the week)
I loved the breakfast here (not your full english)
But had lots to pick from an 2 live station again one doing crepes an other doing omelettes an fried eggs (if you like the live stations give them a small tip each morning, everyone remembers the waiters never the chef)
That brings me onto the waiters
Wow some will say it’s because it was out of season an things like this but they all went above an beyond
My partner is in a wheelchair an after the second night the waiter mekki had already sorted out a table next to the entrance she could get under and 90% of the time had it reserved for us, an soon as we sat down they remembered our drinks no problem so thank you mekki yes he even sang “hey mekki” lol
The hotel is connected to the spar next door an I had a full body massage, I’m not sure what oil she used but my skin still feel good now.
I also did quadding organised by what I can only say is Del-boy in a black leather jacket.
With it being so off season it was just me an the guide but we did a good 30 kilometres riding through dunes, villages and beach would highly recommend it (I’m not going to put a price on as I paid what I thought was a good price an that’s how I’d say you do it)
We can’t go into the entertainment much as I’ve said it was out of season
All in all this was a really lovely experience an highly recommend
Definitely a very relaxing 4.2 out of 5

We spent two weeks at the Mahdia Palace hotel, from the end of July to the beginning of August. We have very good impressions. The hotel is clean, very well maintained. The staff is friendly, especially our wonderful maid Rashida. The security on the beach and in the hotel is excellent. The rooms are very large, the beds are comfortable, especially the toilet, and especially the bathroom. The beach is beautiful, big and clean. The only complaint is the restaurant, which serves an all-inclusive meal. The hall is not big enough to accommodate all the guests, so schedules are made and people wait. 15 minutes to the next shift, in front of the door..I don't think that's right for a 5 star hotel. It's very crowded, we couldn't enjoy the delicious meals. It feels like we're in a student restaurant. When people are on vacation, they don't want to to look at the clock and calculate when the lunch shift is.
After 20 years, we decided to go to Tunisia, in previous years we visited Turkey, Greece, Egypt, Malta, Italy, etc. and we have not experienced such a bad organization of restaurants, as here.
He hoped that the managers would work on it.

I definitely do not recommend this hotel. After the initial excitement, which lasted about a day, we were disappointed. This hotel definitely does not have the qualities of five stars, the reality is about 3.

+
Clean rooms, cleaning without a problem.
Animators - all the animators (Bobo, Ramos, Moskito and especially Momo) at least partly improved the disappointment of the hotel, they were perfect! Pleasant, funny, helpful, full of energy and able to get people involved in the fun activities they had planned.

-
Absolute lack of staff.
The biggest indignation and disappointment in eating. The staff absolutely can't keep up, but I see the problem as a lack of people here, not that the waiters and cooks aren't trying. There are often queues for food, because the staff absolutely does not have time to replenish supplies (I am sorry, but waiting 15 minutes for chips, is really long time for 5 stars hotel). Another problem is that one often has nowhere to sit. The tables are not cleaned after the previous guests, there are no forks, for which you often have to wait several minutes. Drinking is totally unresolved, there are no glasses and for drinks other than water you have to walk across the entire dining room to the barman, who doesn't even have glasses with him.
We were looking forward to at least the Seafood restaurant, which is included in the all-inclusive price once per stay. Again a big disappointment. As a starter we got a salad with tiny pieces of octopus which was good. But then, instead of the expected seafood, fish came again, which you could eat in the dining room every day. Due to the fact that there were guests at about 10 tables, we waited a very long time for our food.
The area is tiny and there are really a lot of people here. The pool is very shallow in most places, the maximum depth is about 1.80m.
Huge problem with sunbeds, they have a total shortage of them. If you want to borrow a towel to borrow a sunbed, you have to get up early in the morning. You have to pay a deposit of 20 dinars for a towel. If you pay a lifeguard, they are not afraid to take someone's towel off and put you there. In this way, several friends lost their towel and their refundable deposit.

Maybe it's better in the off season, but never again to this hotel!

Fantastic holiday in stunning tunisian style hotel with gorgeous beach. Plus a lot of seashels to collect. The rooms were clean and big, provided everything we needed. All staff was kind and helpful. Animation program was the best, a lot of sports and pool activities. Animators were full of life, always smiling and in a good mood. I had so much fun thanks to them. Animators were very friendly, tried to include everyone to the activities. Every evening were live music and animators provided kids disco show and after that either adult disco or karaoke or bingo. The pool was stunning, cleaned everyday. The beach was beautiful, fine white sand a lot of shels, perfect clear sea with gradual entrance. Food was excellent, a large selection of dishes, a variety of food, various alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. We enjoyed the holiday so much, we came to Tunisia stressed from work and everyday life and left relaxed and full of happy memories.

This was not my hotel of choice, my hotel was apparently closed and the only option offered was the mahdia palace.
This hotel does not do all inclusive usually and it was very noticeable.
1, No white wine until day before I flew home although they were happy for me to buy it at £10 a bottle, apparently the £10 white wine wasn’t in the all inclusive!
The food is very good but rarely hot unless it came off the griddle. No hot water either, the dispenser was rubbish giving out tepid water. Some of the waiters were very helpful though in getting pots of water from the kitchen.
The hotel was obviously not ready to be open which I found difficult to understand, they’ve had a fair amount of time! Drilling daily for new parasol posts, very noisy and not conducive to a restful break. Seafood restaurant not open, pool bar not open. Overall, it was okay but not what we signed up for. On the plus side, the staff are very helpful. Would I return, sadly not.

I have just returned after a 7 night stay.

I can understand why this hotel received 5 stars, 7 years ago, however it probably would not get 5 stars if rated now. First impressions are wonderful, the reception area is magnificent, the pool area looks great and the bar areas have 'hundreds' of comfortable looking leather sofas.
The rooms are large, seperate toilet and bathroom, ok balcony but its all a bit dated.

Now the food. At best it would be classed as 3 star food. If you like salad, there are about 10 different types every meal. If you like desserts, you can try about 20 different types of dessert every meal. The rest of the food is disappointing, its almost always cold or luke warm if youre lucky, if something runs out it will be replaced but it will take a while. more like 20-30 minutes. The restaurant is like a Butlins, it shares no resemblance to the standards of the public areas of the hotel. This is what you get for about £5 per meal as the hotel only charges about £20 a night for half board.

The hotel is at the end of Mahdia, a quick cheap taxi trip will get you to the town itself, where you realise that it wasnt worth the effort. So you are stuck with whatever the hotel offers for entertainment. The hotel was quiet by 10pm, that sums up how poor the entertainment was. This is not an all inclusive hotel, they make a lot of money from the inflated prices for drinks, but the hotel makes no attempt to keep guests entertained and therefore spending money.

Its a good hotel for Tunisia, if you pay about £400 - 500 per person for a week, with flights, then you won't be disappointed. If you pay more than that, you won't be too pleased.

I would not return to Mahdia, as its not welcoming or developed enough for tourists, If the Mahdia Palace was somewhere else, then I probably would return for a cheap quiet break but only if the price was tempting.

I am currently at Mahdia Palace. The hotel is a 5 star. It's true that the decoration is a little dated but the hotel remains as it is.
-catering: 9/10 varied dishes, mm if you arrive too late there will always be a free table the restaurant is large
-entertainment: 9/10 good music throughout the day and at night there is an open-air disco space and another open-air space also dedicated to instrumental musicians on stage (saxophone, accordion... )
- Reception service: 9/10 fast and efficient (I received my room in 5 minutes) I wanted to use the safe in my room which is free (I called reception, they sent me an agent to reprogram in less than 10 minutes)
- Beach: 10/10 a splendid, clear and very clean sea with plenty of deckchairs
-pool: 9/10
- Room cleaning service: 6/10 you leave your room in disorder, you come back and find it in disorder, the cleaning lady only collects the garbage bags without putting back other bags. very slow and inefficient service (I compare with other 4 star hotels that I have already visited, Averroes Hammamet 9/10 on this point).
- another negative point, the rooms are equipped with separate beds and not a single large bed for couples.
-Parking: secure with carports, around fifty spaces. no problem finding a place.
Formula: 5/10 the hotel offers “Full board plus” for Tunisians and all inclusive for Europeans. we are only allowed drinks during meals, if you are thirsty outside of meals you are obliged to pay 6.5 dinars for a 1 liter bottle of water. I don't know why All inclusive only for Europeans, when I booked we were told that the hotel does not offer an all in formula. Normally we treat everyone on an equal footing. I was about to choose Nour Palace which is right next door and which is in All in but the negative reviews dissuaded me.

Otherwise, it's a very good hotel, very well located. Overall, the stay is very good, nothing spoils the atmosphere.
Ps: the hotel is full with almost 1200 occupants (99% foreigners) and prohibits access to visitors except for swimming pool access at 100 dinars per pass including 40 dinars for consumables.

Pension rather 3 stars by French standards, easy check-in with a welcome cocktail, I am put in a first filled with damp thoroughly fogged on the bathroom mirror, bathtub filled with water, soaked bathroom floor, I went up to the reception to demand a change of room that was automatically made. The new room I was given was pretty decent, still a little humidity but it's okay, but big flat my room overlooking pool does not pick up the wifi of the Inn except if I stay at my front door, only one socket to charge in the whole room that is not next to the bed but below the dressing table and near the garbage can, the socket this picks up a bit elsewhere. Some points could be better in this room as the provision of bottles each day of cleaning, bathrobes and slippers would be a plus! Besides that the sheets are not changed every day a little pity... Pension facilities, a big pool a real plus, music a little too loud, no deckchair or beach towel available from 11am except that we are left a deposit, so we must arrive very early. Great beach with quite a lot of deckchair it's great, a spa center and wellness with real Leader, I recommend the one hour massages that are really great!! The Pension staff is very kind, and finally the Pension restaurant is very good lots of choices, for every taste! Overall review quite mixed...

Let’s start with thanks to two servers who made our holiday bearable - always prepared table for lunch and dinner, happy to help with anything. They even helped me bring food to room when my child got sick. Really nice men and again, thank you!
Another thanks go to the cleaning lad - he gave us clean towels every time I asked and was always nice and polite- thank you!
Now, all inclusive holiday, you get breakfast, lunch and dinner. In between you get some dried bread roll or dried cakes from breakfast- that’s it! If you have a small child who eats more then 3x per day, get ready to pay for some food at snack bar. I wish that manager of this hotel would travel to some hotel let’s say to Greece or turkey and experience all inclusive. This is so basic…
Food is the same every day- no themed dinners nor lunches… same everyday. After 4 days we got sick of it and started buying food from snack bar sometimes.
Hotel is beautiful, I mean architecture is stunning just like in pictures. Sea is beautiful and clean - till afternoon then you can find all sort of plastic and rubbish swimming next to you…
Now, be very very careful with rooms! I don’t recommend anything on the -2 - bottom floor, any room with garden view they are damp wet even! Never get any sun in, your clean clothes will become permanently damp. Oh and that smell in room is vile. Air con not working. We had so much mould in room that my child and I got really ill- both temperatures, achy body, snots and sore throat. I heard people on the same corridor moving rooms because of the mould issue but we were sick and couldn’t be bothered to pack again. Room 171- avoid!
All in all, I had taste of Tunisia, I won’t be back. Not my cup of tea.
Btw, men can be rude, they don’t like strong women who argue back.
