It could've been a nice stay during summer time. The rooms were at freezing temperatures and the air conditioning did not work well. The rooms are large and have balconies. The breakfast and the dinner are very good. Medina Convention Center is within walking distance. A taxi ride is needed to reach the old town.

Just returned from my second stay at this hotel. All of the staff work so hard to make you feel comfortable and enjoy your stay. The animation team Titi, Houssem, Josef and the chief Majdi are always around to make sure you have a good time. The food is fresh and plenty of choice. Thank you for an amazing break, I can’t wait to return in the summer :)

Lovely hotel. Very polite and friendly staff. There was plenty of activities to do like archery, bowls, darts etc. The staff made you feel very welcome and are very engaging. I didn’t enjoy the food and feel that there could have been a more variety of options. Apart from that, very good.

I think i was first alarmed seeing people dropped off at their hotels on arrival, were all behind security guarded gates, the solaria was no different. The reception area was large and airy, and staff were accommodating although some's understanding of English was limited, and probably they were more comfortable speaking French. The whole of the ground floor was populated with sofas and alcoves which was nice, however it was extremely cold and draftee, not helped as it was cold for the duration of our stay. Arena bar is in this area, and staff were friendly and respectful. The dining room is somewhat dated, large and there is a vast amount of food, which to be honest was lack lustre and samey. The staff in the restaurant were attentive but i felt really uncomfortable with the continual touching, rubbing my back touching my arms was unwanted and i felt disrespectful, and despite my request to stop persisted, interestingly it was apparent that it was European women that were targeted. Some of the other members of the team didn't wear a uniform or identify them selves and it was difficult to determine who they were, there was hard sells of excursions and use of the spa, if you say ill give it some thought or get back to you in a day or so they really persist and it becomes invasive, it was evident that other residents/ guests felt the same with some responding in the end by being really quite rude. I understand and acknowledge its a very different culture, but i felt there a distinct lack of incite on the staffs part about respecting personal space and and recognising when people just need to be left alone. A number of people we met, all shared out experience and although on the whole enjoyed their break, wont be returning to Tunisia The spa i felt was expensive for what was in offer, and the pool which is salt water was reported to be 30 degrees was cold, and the tiles around the pool were very slippery, you can can use the pool for free during the middle for the day, otherwise there is a charge. Towelling gowns were provided but they quickly become wet and cold. You will need to take flip flips or similar with you, including a towel, and toiletries to shower before you leave if you've had a massage because of the oil on your skin. Our room was basic large and clean, it took a while for the hot water to come through, it was noisy with thin walls, and you could hear people next door and upstairs. The hotel offers free tickets to a show in the medina, which we were initially keen to go, however we received several warnings not to go, because of the persistent hawking some of which was reported to be really quite aggressive. Perhaps the hotel could do more to get the guests there safely and avoid this? The event/ entertainment team clearly worked hard, however the volume of the music was invasive in the sitting areas outside the entertainment area.

Dear Jayjay, Thank you for the review. We understand that you enjoyed the overall stay with us in spite of the few shortcomings for which we apologize. Tunisians are very friendly, warm and welcoming people, love guests and wish the best for their stay. We assure you that nothing was meant to disrespect you but to establish a friendly connection. You should not always listen to the warnings as it can't be any safer to go to the Scheherazade show in the medina :) The only thing that could happen is to be approached by vendors and if you refuse them politely you will even forget they are in there. We hope that you will visit us again in the future as you still have plenty of wonderful unseen places. Best regards,

I've just spent the past week here, and I have to say that the hotel is lovely. We had a sea view room which was great. The food was wonderful, and had plenty of choice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Special mention to the Animstion Team, Rio, Kitty, Jòè , joźèf and dj houßsèm. They made a very big effort to make sure all the guests had a great time, so well done team. The hotel is predominately catering for French Guests, so not many English guests this particular week. The resort itself was pretty much closed, which is usual for January, with it being out of season. The weather hasn't been very hot also, so take a couple of warm tops is coming winter time. So if you're coming to Tunisia and you're looking for a good tan, then maybe come spring/ summer time. The beach is also directly opposite the hotel. There is also a nice spa indoor pool we can use esch day between 12 and 3pm. All in all I would recommend this hotel. Thanks for a lovely time Medina Solaria. ❤️
