I have been to this hotel many times before after numerous stays in hotels across Tunisia over the years. This is now my happy chill out place, I don't have to learn about anything, or worry about anything, I just leave my stress at home and totally switch off for my stay. Staff are always friendly, welcoming, attentive, and nothing is too much trouble. Everywhere is clean, spacious, and palacial. Food is appealing and delicious and plentiful. All staff go the extra mile to make your stay special and memorable. Don't expect noisy entertainment all day and night there is some nice gentle evening entertainment and poolside activities but on the whole this is a perfect paradise for a chill out in the beautiful poolside garden or on the spacious sandy beach looking out to the Mediterranean Sea. Only gets better each time I visit.

We have just returned from our family and friends holiday. The hotel and facilities where much better than we had hoped. It felt like we had the complex to ourselves. You had plenty of room to position yourselves around the pool, restaurants and bar areas. The beach is gorgeous and the water is very clear. The food was good (1/2 board) The staff where very good, friendly and very helpful. The rooms where of a large size with a good dressing area, nice sized bathroom with separate bath and shower. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Overall. We would definitely return to this hotel.

Mixed reviews about this hotel so let me start with the bad first … When we arrived (week prior to October half term and half term week) there was a small conference going on which was fine as didn’t affect the holiday guests and seasonally, we are coming out of peak so they do have to fill the hotel somehow, but half way through our first week, the Lobby seating area was totally replaced by trade stands for a 350 people 3 day convention (urology). The lobby was then totally taken over by attendees in the small remaining seating area, so you had to try and get past them to get to the lifts and stairs. All the staff from the hotel disappeared for 4 days preparing for the convention and during so very limited staff for the holiday guests. The convention was attended by 85% men who would come out and chat in groups, taking photos and doing videos by the pool and on the beach which was not great from a family point of view and trying to relax! After the convention, there was another small conference the following week but again this was no issue as was small number of attendees. I personally do not think TUI should have holidays guests when there is such a big convention on as it does affect the service and enjoyment of the holiday massively, so it did spoil almost 1/3 of our holiday as the food in the restaurant was very uninspiring and dull (but they were catering for the 350 guests as well, so I think the focus of the whole hotel was on the convention and not the holiday guests), which is frustrating as the holiday costs 2 months wages so is a considerable cost and disappointing that we are thought of as not as important! Now to the good aspects, hotel lobby was fabulous and looked amazing and nice to sit in at the end of the day with a cocktail, great staff at the Lobby bar with great coffee too. Staff generally were very good, we did tip on occasion (10 dinar) and this did seem to improve the service, our waiter in the restaurant was very good and would grab spoons etc if we were having spaghetti, so you didn’t have to ask him as he automatically got it for us. I would state that the hotel occupancy was at about 40% so I do not know if it would be quite so good when fully occupied. Common areas kept spotlessly clean too. Lovely grounds that are well maintained with courteous ground staff. Excellent pool/towel man who was very helpful and would grab us towels as soon as he saw us. Pool bar not very well staffed and frequently no one was there so had to use the beach bar on occasion. Nice loungers on the beach and pool with cushions and a decent width. Beach bar great coffee and chap would make us a coffee prior to the bar opening at 10am as well so he was very helpful and always around, he would also come to us at the beach at take orders etc. No snack place though which I think was near the beach bar, probably due to the end of season so you had to lunch in the restaurant which was a bit of a faff sometimes. Beach Towel man was a bit indifferent and not as good as the pool man. Housekeeping was very hit and miss. When we arrived, we had to ask 5 times for our interconnecting door to be opened between the rooms (16yo in the other room), we had requested interconnecting rooms when booking, we also had no bath robes which we requested 3, but the next day one was removed and not returned. Towels would be taken and not replaced (you also have to climb into the bath to get the towels off the rail which is not idea especially if you aren’t the tallest in the worldl!), the cleaning was good but we kept the room tidy anyway and our son used our bathroom to reduce how much cleaning required. Our air conditioning wasn’t great but reported it and it was looked at within a day and they resolved whatever the issue was (still don’t think it is the best air con though so at peak heat I think it would struggle) Generally, the food was excellent (except during the convention) with a good amount of variety, nice stuffed chicken roll and always the option to have pasta done as you wait. They did cook some meat on the grill every evening if you didn’t fancy stew/sauce type meat. Not a massive amount of choice if you are vegetarian (I do eat quite a lot of vegetarian food generally and it was very basic). The puddings, especially the pastry ones were excellent, and we ate far more than we should have. Great ice cream too! Not a huge selection of fresh fruit (melon was often quite tasteless). Lots of salad options too. We joined in some of the fitness classes (due to those fabulous pastries) and did the AquaFit with Aymen, who was such a fabulous guy and a huge credit to TUI and the hotel. Was always out and about checking on you and always interested to speak to you. TUI did offer other things to do but then didn’t have the equipment for more than one person to do it (like the foam rolls as only one sort available so wasn’t different body part options) We also all had a hammam with clay with Sonia who was just fabulous, beautiful singing voice as well, we all came out totally soft skinned and like a baby’s bottom. Great experience, highly recommend. I had a good lomi lomi massage but my husband had a different masseur for his lomi lomi and she did something right at the end that gave discomfort on his neck, and actually one of the other guests mentioned the same thing with that masseur at the end of hers and her neck had swelled significantly which was slightly concerning. My son had a different sort of massage and he felt he was just basted with oil ready for the oven, so in our view the massages were very expensive for what they were but the hammam was well worth the money with the fabulous Sonia. Avoid the man in the jewellery and bag shop at the hotel as he is very full on, I did purchase one bag as I found one I loved and thought the price was good but he was so pushy to get us to buy a beach bag as well that we did in the end (it didn’t last the 2 week holiday I may add so remained in Tunisia). I think the beach needs more attention by the hotel as well as so much plastic on it, on our last day, the sea was very calm and it was just full of plastic and all over the sand/beach as well, it was quite shocking (yes we know it is not just Tunisia that has this issue). The beach bar man came to pick stuff up on the beach, along with the water sports chap next door but I think it should be a priority as the hotel is supposedly environmentally aware. My husband and son snorkelled and grabbed plastic instead (very few fish, quite a few interesting jelly fish though) which the beach bar chap was happy to take. There are camel and horse-riding options (along with cigarette, clothes, jewellery sellers) on the beach but they did take no for an answer and the hotel don’t allow them to get close to the loungers, but you are fair game once you wander down the beach! All in all we did enjoy our stay but would not go here again if we knew their was a convention planned as it did take over the whole of the hotel inc staff and did put a dampener on the holiday. Just a note for info, you can only use dinar at the airport prior to going into passport control/duty free, once through you can only pay in pounds or euro (or card) which hadn’t been made clear. Only a duty-free shop and food once through as well so very limited. They do ask how much cash you have in dinar after passport control and only allowed 30 dinar which you then cannot spend! We didn’t notice an exchange place in the airport at all (you can change to Dinar in your hotel but has to be changed back at the airport and not the hotel). Food place is expensive as well (we only had 4 small water and 2 coffees which was £23 so make sure you eat before you go to the airport). The hotel did do a lunch box, which we did for breakfast, and they wrapped up what we wanted in foil which was great.

Dear Guest, Thank you for the testimonial. First of all we are happy that you enjoyed the overall stay with us :) We are sad to read that the congress we held disturbed you. Meanwhile, all hotels with Business Centers like ours host events related to business. In Tunisia for example 98% of the hotels are equipped with business venues. The business events usually take place in the off season and most of the time the hotel guests are not too bothered. We apologize for the inconvenience. We look forward to welcoming you again in the near future for a stay that will definitely please you. Best regards,

We have just returned from our latest stay at the oceana our 2nd stay this year. The suites were kept immaculately clean by the chamber maids. The choice and quality of the meals in the main restaurant could not be faulted.but what always excells is the welcome from all the staff. Including reception the bar main restaurant room maids and the mini bar staff. We are already planning our next visit for 2 weeks in January. During our stay there was a seminar for 50 guests. It was organised so well we never saw them.thank you

Oceana is a beautiful hotel with exceptional staff. Nothing was too much for them. And always a smile. The staff are keen on speaking your language so they slip effortlessly from Arabic, to German, French and English. The food is great. A good example of Tunisian flavours while spoiling everyone with French patisserie. The rooms are beautiful with fresh flowers and wonderful sea views. The beach is glorious and the sea easy to swim in.

I can not thank the staff at the beach enough. I was advised by the security guard Naim on the beach not to go into the sea yet I ignored him. I got into difficulty in the sea and tried to shout my family for help but they did not hear or notice me yet they were watching me in the distance however the life guard Maravanee Garuda understood I was struggling. He immediately came to rescue me with a ring. I’m SO grateful to him. I would like the manager to commend the security guard Naim and even more the lifeguard MARAVANEE GARUDA. They are both attentive and observant. Maravanee, you are a credit to the hotel and do a fantastic job. Adel the bar manager came to us personally to ask if everything was ok. Mahdoo at the Frontdesk was so kind and actually bothered about us. Thank you MARAVANEE GARUDA 😊

Hi. I am writing this review as I sit on the balcony of our last day here at the hotel. Food great, head chef and staff friendly and attentive. Room service excellent but rooms are tired and worn. Pools are great. Friendly pool service around the pools for towels and beds. Sea is great, lifeguards and Security are friendly and helpful. Adhere to the flags, we learnt a scary lesson! Reception staff are friendly and helpful but sometimes require a bit of a conversation to see your point of view. Did not use Spa. Gym is ok, and can provide a good Cardio workout. Half board is good but be prepared to pay for drinks and lunchtime food which can vastly increase the cost of your holiday. Lastly I have read previous reviews and I have to agree with that some bar staff are unfriendly and unwelcoming. I suppose I don’t tip enough.

Dear Kelly, Thank you for sharing your testimonial. We are so sorry you disliked your stay with us meanwhile we have to mention that our food is checked daily and the pool is cleaned also on a daily basis, since we grant an important attention to the cleanliness. The statement that hotel guests are not allowed at the bar is wrong. Everyone is allowed just that the consumption is extra since the beach bar is not included in the All In formula. We hope that you will give us another chance in the future for a much better stay. Kind regards,
