I’ve been coming to this hotel for 3 years now and it’s never failed to disappoint. The bars in the receptions are the perfect thing to come to when you’re tired after a great time at the pool/beach. The variety of food in the buffet is amazing, you can find something for everyone in the family no matter the age. The receptionists and staffs hospitality is off the charts. The whole staff takes the Covid protocol very seriously as far as cleaning the rooms and wearing masks 24/7. The rooms are very comfortable and make you feel at home while at the same time make you feel like you’re on vacation which is everything you want. I would 100% come back!

Just returned from a week at the Marco Polo.
I wouldn’t say the hotel was four star as the rooms were tired but very clean and equipped. Large screen Tv, fridge, hair dryer air con and decent shower. The rooms were cleaned everyday and the cleaners would leave petals on the beds from the gorgeous flowers within the grounds of the hotel, nice little touch.
The food was good albeit repetitive, for breakfast there was pancakes, eggs, omelette plus the usual hams, cheeses etc. For lunch, the hand made pizzas and bread rolls and plenty of salad, rice and pasta etc. plenty of chicken, fish etc. Dinner was similar. The waiters were very attentive and on hand to top up your drinks.
The pool was amazing and as the hotel was under occupancy there was no queuing for sun beds and there were plenty of parasols. In the pool there was sun beds that could lie on and keep cool in the water plus the swim up bar was nice. Tip - Go equipped with mosquito spray!
Beware of the disabled toilet near the inside bar as several people including myself got locked in, faulty lock. The bar hands out litre bottles of water for your fridge if wanted. There are a couple of on site shops but you can barter with them to get the prices down as they do start very high, you need to aim to get to a third of the price asked for.
We went to the marina which was nice, a lot of cheap places to eat if that’s what you like. We got a ride in a horse and cart back to the hotel which was only 20 dinar, approx £5!!
Wi-Fi only available in the restaurant, bar and reception, NOT in the rooms.
The beach was deserted, there was a lonely man riding up and down on his camel but we avoided getting caught into taking pictures and then having to pay!
The weather was very hot, so take plenty of cream. Overall enjoyable holiday with friends.

Returned to the Marco Polo after some years away this being my 4th visit (it was then RIU). I last visited just before the terrorist attacks in 2015 on what was a thriving tourist industry. This and the Covid 19 pandemic has had a double negative effect on their tourist industry and would have starved them of investment for some years.

On arriving at the Hotel not much has changed since my visit just before the terrorist outrage. The place is spotlessly clean in the public areas and I don't know how many times they clean the toilets but to coin a phrase you could eat your dinner off the floor (not best advised).

A lot of the staff are still here and I could not believe that they still recognised us.

Again the room (4103) was kept spotless by the chambermaid with sheets and towels changed daily. TV satellite reception is poor and needs updating. Air conditioning works to a sort of fashion but noticeable that at the weekend when the hotel filled with Tunisian visitors the loading on the system reduced efficiency. Always more than enough hot water on tap, but fixtures and fittings need attention but nothing major.

Bar staff always helpful and ready to fill your glasses with what ever you need, however as others have commented I'm sure the spirits are watered down as there is no chance of getting tipsy on them. Don't forget the availability of bottled water.

Food was also an improvement on our last visit when it was a RIU and was plentiful however a lot of the time its cold unless you get it when freshly cooked. The restaurant staff are nothing short of excellent. The outdoor BBQ was superb and a lot of effort was put in by the hotel staff.

Pool as one would expect is clean as is the surrounding area and the animation team are constantly on the go. They do work hard.

So to sum up what is good and bad about the Marco Polo.

I feel a really big issue is the WiFi access and bandwidth around the hotel, its poor and in this day and age it requires serious investment as everyone uses the Internet. To be honest there does not appear to be any improvement since my last visit in 2015 we still had to walk along the bedroom corridor to find a wireless access point as so many had been removed (guess due to failure and not replaced) Access was OK in reception area but again bandwidth is a issue. Perhaps if the infrastructure is not up to it Starlink could be a option.

My second point is that the hotel does need some serious TLC to improve the standards as not really a 4 star at the moment its slipped from TUI days, but I sure this will happen once tourists return and they make a profit to be reinvested.

And finally the food needs to be hotter.

Where the Marco Polo scores is its staff, they are friendly, helpful and a real asset to the hotel.
Keep up the good work and I'm sure you will go from strength to strength. Don't be put off by negative comments give it a try. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Just keep a eye out for the good deals out there.

Visited this hotel last week. Met so many lovely people there.
They had a pool to die for and had plenty of fun.
But, TUI gives the hotel **** .
They don’t mention the hotel is shabby in the insides , most rooms had a lot of problems , which when people went to complain at the Reception and the TUI rep they either didn’t want to know or you had to complain about it 4 or 5 times to get something done. One of the lifts wasn’t working for a few days , a Engineer did try and fix it , but it was just left closed.
The food is edible, always find something to eat , but it’s either cold or flies around it.
Half of the hotel isn’t open even though it’s June, especially one of the restaurants and the pizza place outside. So you couldn’t get any free snacks after meal times.
They only switched the whirl pools and the fountain on when the locals used the hotel at the weekend.
Despite that ,the hotel and room was extremely clean, the support staff all worked very hard always wanted to talk or serve you etc….
The cleaners left a swan and a heart made out of a sheet on your bed most days was lovely .
The spa was Brillant , I had 5 massages and very cheap ,but they don’t do any consultation beforehand which could be dangerous, especially if you have High blood pressure etc….
The day Entertainment was good got people from different ages involved, but the music was very loud so you couldn’t relax .
During the evening the Entertainment was poor , they did try their best.
The air con in the room isn’t very good as it’s not cold enough.
The only thing we had a problem in our room was the sliding doors next to the balcony the handle was hanging off when we got there , when it fell off , the maintenance put it back on and only screwed one nail in it so it fell off again.
Apart from that , we had a fantastic holiday , everyone spoke to each other so you never felt lonely .
But sorry I won’t be visiting the hotel again unless it gets renovated.

The hotel was clean and well maintained from the inside and out. The staff where very friendly and always welcomed you with a smile and where well mannered. Bar staff would learn your order very quickly and bring you drinks to your table before you even ordered was a 10/10 for the bar staff no complaints to be given. Cleaners always left the room immaculate fresh towels every morning new ash tray if you smoke every thing the cleaners did was amazing and professional. Cooks where friendly and always happy to see you even thou the food wasn’t always great the food was worse on a weekend as it catered for the Tunisian guests staying in the hotel. The animation team were amazing kids would go play in kids club all morning and afternoon as they where entertained the games around the pool where always on time and good fun to have but even if you didn’t want to get up and do games or dance the animation would still come sit with you make you laugh and we’re always professional and friendly couldn’t give them enough credit for the work and dedication they have to keep all the guests happy shows where always great fun to watch I don’t have a bad review for them at all 10/10 for the animation team would definitely recommend going and will be going again in a few weeks that’s how good they where.

Arrived home yesterday from a brilliant 10 day stay at Marco Polo.
Our room had a nice pool/sea view from our balcony. The beds and pillows were comfortable, room was also well air-conditioned too. Rooms are also nice and spacious. The room was always cleaned to a very good standard every day and it was nice coming back on some of the days when the maids had left the towels in love hearts/swans etc. with rose petals on the bed. I thought that was a really nice touch.
The pool is huge and there are plenty of sunbeds around the pool, majority of the time it was easy to find a good seat.
The drinks are very nice and the bar staff are excellent, so friendly and hard working.
The food is average, I think this is an area that could definitely be improved on. However I did really enjoy some of the food, but for me and my partner, it became a bit limited as to what we enjoyed. We found ourselves eating the same things everyday which got a bit repetitive.
The beach nearby I thought was very nice and with the location of the hotel, it’s literally right outside which was very convenient. Water is nice and clear and the beach has good sand on it.
There are shops/restaurants nearby at the Marina which is about a 10 minute walk away which are decent. But I would recommend to definitely visit the Medina which is about a 20 minute walk away, much more lively and a better selection of restaurants/shops etc.
What made this holiday so amazing was the animation team. They went above and beyond to make an effort to ask how we were and to get us joining in in the activities. I have to say, I’ve been on many holidays to various countries and I’ve never seen an animation team so hard working, friendly and also hilarious people before. Without them, our experience in Tunisia would not have been the same. The shows are really well put together and so funny/entertaining. I will never forget this holiday and the memories we made with the animation team.
I want to say a big thanks to all of them: Safe, Sam, Jimini, Kasper, Lilo, Arssi. Safe and Sam especially are absolutely brilliant and went above and beyond to make our holiday unforgettable.

Air-conditioning is seasonal so do check if on for the date of your stay. Pool is filthy with no towels and your not given towel cards on arrival but they want to charge for not returning them. Food is cold and nasty with very limited offering. Beach covered in camel poo. Dogs barking all night. Noisy fan keeps you awake too. Sunbeds all broken. Staff (excluding cleaners) all rude. For sea view room you must be able to lean over your balcony to see the sea. This hotel needs to be refurbished not just it's buildings but staff too, it's poor by comparison of a third world shanty town. If a fire broke out use the lift it's safer then the stairs with broken tiles and rails not attached to walls. Hope your not here on a day where it's taken over by a conference event as there will be none of the nasty food left for you to regret eating afterwards. If you find a price so cheap you end up here bring your own towel, snacks and a spoon

Visited this Hotel a few years ago, before I began reviewing, when it was part of the Riu group. Had a great time as one would expect from a Riu Hotel so I was wondering what to expect from it's new owners.
Physically the hotel is the same, decor hasn't changed and I guess some areas seem a little 'tired' but overall everywhere was very clean. Even though there were only a few guests there were many cleaners around keeping everywhere spick and span.
Check in was quick and efficient even though the receptionist was a little grumpy. Bedroom was clean with comfortable beds but strangely there was no Hotel information inside which I found a little strange. Walked back to Mr Grumpy and was handed an A4 sheet of paper with meal, gym and indoor pool times and not much else but why couldn't one be left in the room.
As I said the hotel was very quiet, possibly embarrassingly so, maybe between 50 and 100 guests at any one time during my stay. I had to question myself whether it was worthwhile opening but did the lack of guests impact on the service...not a bit.
Meals were taken in the small speciality Oriental Restaurant, sometimes the staff outnumbered the guests but they were fabulous, always smiling, helpful and attentive. Food was excellent, probably not the full choice as one would get during the summer months but even for a fussy eater such as myself there was always something and the cuts of meat were superb, far better in fact than at a 5 star Riu Hotel I recently stayed at.
The wonderful service extended to the bar where the waiters could not do enough for you. Table service fast and efficient as well.
Hotel Animation team superb, always stopping and speaking with you. Good activities in the day but just mainly music in the evening although Saturday night saw a 'strongman' act in the main theatre as there were additional guests on weekend breaks. Credit for their efforts with the lack of guests, they could have easily 'hid' and not bothered.
So all in all an enjoyable stay, ok it didn't have the atmosphere of a busy hotel but the staff more than compensated for this. I'm confident that the excellent service will remain as the season progresses and gets busier.
Just a couple of minor issues, read a previous review that mentioned a pungent smell from the bathroom, did notice it a couple of times first thing in the morning but seemed to clear by lunch. Finally I did think that the All Inclusive drinks range could have been improved. Local beer and main spirits but few liqueurs and the like
Overall the resort of Yasmine Hamamette seems to be suffering from a lack of tourism with many shops and bars closed. Lets hope that Tunisia will see an upturn of visitors in the future. .

On arrival checked in taken to room overlooking a concrete roof ,went back to reception and complained that I had paid for a superior room and a seaview so was given another room to look at which was acceptable had to then lug our bags right around the other side to it then found there was no towels covered in sweat I asked for some towels from the cleaning ladies and was told later to which I said now as I needed a shower was given towels . Looked at the sheets mine was stained with brown spots asked for a clean one made the bed myself . Staff were brilliant waiters bar staff all good the one thing that was unacceptable was the restaurant especially weekends when it seemed like the whole of Algeria and Tunisia had arrived . I have never ever seen such greed and bad manners no plates at certain times as they were all on the tables covered in food which the majority of was wasted this hotel needs to be avoided at all costs . TUI must remove it from there brochure although we did hear from other travellers that it was the same all over Tunisia at weekends

following the reading of previous reviews I am unsure what planet they were on? The hotel on arrival 50 minute wait for check in which was hard waiting in a queue when you have mobility issues. Room was average. Only two restaurant's were open the main one in the hotel and the Italian one by the Pool. No food labelling anywhere, food was always cold even the soup, you had to queue for everything nothing was refilled regularly, bare hands used by staff when handling food, I am not a chip person but none was available in the main restaurant and potatoes under cooked as was the rice. breakfast queue for coffee and other standard items.
Pool was excellent and the pool bar staff lovely, 5a.m get to the pool no sunbeds all already taken, we were told you have to put the towels on the night before, this worked for a couple of nights then Management removed them and you had to search through the pile by the life guards hut. we are early birds so this was good for us and amusing to see some of the shocked faces when their sunbeds were gone, sadly things went back to the bed saving again. the following week an angry guest threw many of the towels into the water, management once again removed towels that were left on beds (hooray).
Italian restaurant served Pasta, burger, and chips queuing was again an issue. Salads were left overnight covered with cling film but not kept chilled.
Italian restaurant was open only three nights, the food served in the day was the same in the evening just with table cloths added and napkins.
The hotel ran out of Tonic so staff were trying to put alternative mixers in your drinks not good. One lift not working for the first week, apparently this was a regular occurrence.
Would I go back no not to that hotel, sadly it once was a Riu and they are trying to run on their standards but failing miserably.
Anything positive was a lovely pool some of the staff were lovely and the gardeners assistant was a lovely gentleman putting flowers on our sunbeds and when offered a tip said no, had to trick him into taking it. We were with family which made this holiday worth while, so we made the best of a bad job and enjoyed the two weeks.
