As a B&B owner myself, I enjoy staying at other b and b’s when I travel. I expect them to vary widely in design and décor but my standards are high when it comes to cleanliness and service. Our stay at Captain Visger’s was a delightful experience on all accounts. The house itself has been beautifully restored. Our room, Harmonious,... More

Just had a two night stay over Labor Day weekend. Had never been to Alex Bay before. As previous reviews point out, Sam is one of the main selling points of this B & B. She tries to please you with your breakfast choices and what you do and do not like. This B & B is very very conveniently... More

I selected this B&B based on other TripAdvisor reviews... and we were not disappointed! The inn owner, Sam, has enough personality for 5 people; she is so warm & open & friendly. And she truly makes the most delicious, inspired breakfasts we've eaten. We stayed in the "Catherine July" room, which is small but very nicely appointed. Since we basically... More

This B&B is above and beyond. Definitely stay here!! We had a awesome stay and will return to this place. Food, room and owner was fantastic. The best B&B we have ever stayed at. Sam is the best hostess. After eating her gourmet breakfast, you do not have to eat another meal. Sam prepares her breakfast taking in all the... More

My husband and I visited 1000 Islands for a long weekend "get away". We have stayed at many B&B's over the past 15 years and would rank Captain Visger House among one of the nicest we have stayed at. The room and bathroom were gorgeous, furnished with beautiful antiques. The bed was extremely comfortable. And we just cannot say enough... More

We visited 1000 Island for our anniversary. We stayed in the Captain's suite for three nights. Comfortable room. Clean and nicely decorated with antiques . Creative breakfasts, and the coffee was really good too. Didn't eat again until later in the evening. Enjoyed our conversations with Sam and the other guests. Great location. Within walking distance to the tourist attractions,... More

This was our first stay in a B&B in the Alexandria Bay and Clayton areas. We really enjoy B&B's, and Sam and her beautiful establishment reminded us why. The room was delightful, a perfect blend of antique and eclectic, and totally fun. It should be mentioned in a review that Sam is a fabulous chef; more importantly, she was great... More

I'm still coming off of the high of staying at Captain Visger House, and I now I'm completely spoiled and not very happy about returning to real life! The best part of the visit were the two wonderful breakfasts. It's been said over and over in the other reviews, but Sam is an amazing cook. I don't know how she... More

We just finished our 2 night stay at Captain Visger House and, thanks to other TripAdvisor reviews, were not disappointed. Upon checking in, Sam did not ask for credit card info, as with most other establishments. Nice and relaxing atmosphere. She did ask us if we were familiar with the area and suggested a few places to grab a decent,... More

We came to the area for a wedding but were amazed at the incredibly beautiful St. Lawrence river and the local geography! The Captain Visger house is perfectly situated near the heart of things, Sam is an engaging host, an expert in the local history, a great source of information, and a great cook. We enjoyed the comfort and decor... More
