I Love Phants is a very, very special place and completely and utterly exceeded my expectations. What makes it so amazing? The brilliant staff, delicious food, super chilled atmosphere and the most incredible setting. Staying in the middle of the wildlife sanctuary means you can feed the elephants that wander casually past your lodge or watch them as you're in the swimming pool, wake up to the sound of monkeys and can wander round seeing all the other rescued animals as and when you want. I thought it was amazing value too. We had a cabin in the woods - it was huge, lovely bed linen, outside shower, balcony overlooking the reserve and close to lots of other animals - all meals are included (served in the main lodge) and the food is top notch. My daughter and I felt very privileged to have had the opportunity to stay here. So many memories to cherish. Please go and support this brilliant sanctuary and the incredible work they do.

I loved this place. I stayed for 3 days. I had planned to do some day trips - but I ended up just walking around the rescue center and swimming in the pool. Feeding the elephants from the balcony of my room was my highlight. once they figured out I had bananas they came over to visit at night. I was sad to leave ...

My friend and I did ALOT of research before choosing this property because 1) who wouldn't want to be near elephants and 2) we know exploitation is a problem, in more ways than one. I have to say we were blown away with the whole experiance. We arranged for transportation from Bangkok which was seamless. We booked a rustic cabin however after seeing a huge spider and a frog in the room they graciously moved us to a room upstairs from the lodge. So if you are like me and get freaked out by this please opt for the more modern rooms. The grounds were tranquil and quiet. resort style without the crowds. It was so neat to be in the pool watching monkeys play and elephants roam around the grounds. Food was prepared on site and served buffet style..I was stuffed after each meal because it was so good. We also bought tickets for the full day animal experiance and this was truly the high piont of our stay. The tour itself will tug at your heart because of the cruelty these animals had to face however to know that places like this exist made me feel honored to stay here. Please support.

This was one of the top experiences of our Southeast Asia trip (and probably our lives). We spent our day enjoying all the amazing animals around the foundation. The rooms we stayed at were fantastic and overlooked the elephant enclosure. We watched them sleep at night! We even had an animal friend visit us in the outdoor shower, (a sweet little Hornbill). We woke up to the gibbons singing and had an early morning swim next to the elephants in the lodge’s new pool which was superb. We also met Edwin, the founder of the Wildlife Friends Foundation, and it was fascinating to hear more about his journey with animal conservation. We just wish we had stayed longer!

It has been a dream of mine to see elephants in the wild (or second best -- a cruelty free sanctuary). I am an animal lover and a devouted vegan and was very concerned about choosing a sanctuary that was actually ethical and cruelty free. After weeks of researching, I stumbled across Wildlife Friends Foundation (and the I Love Phants Lodge) and I am SO glad I did. It was an absolute dream come true -- the perfect experience. We stayed there for a few days at the end of March, and the only problem we had with the experience was that we literally didn't want to leave -- I cried as the taxi drove us away! The lodge is heaven on earth -- peaceful, serene, modern, clean. We had elephants come to our balcony every morning at the crack of dawn to be fed several bunches of bananas (which were provided by the staff ANY time we asked -- which was several times a day!) The food we were given (wide amount of choices for any diet) was IMPECCABLE! They were extremely accommodating for our vegan diet and the traditional thai soup breakfast and tom kah soup was what I chose every day -- it was that good! ALL of the staff and volunteers we encountered were extremely friendly, provided quick service and were always so warm and welcoming. We cannot praise them enough. We opted to do the guided tour through the foundation for a full day and I recommend it to everyone. It was so informative and albeit upsetting to hear about all of the animals backstories, or how they've been severely mistreated by humans. I still left feeling happy that they've found new homes there and are catered to on the daily, by humans that are devoting their time and effort to helping them realize that some humans can be trusted. One of the most important things our guide (Joana -- who was SO awesome) said that really resonated with me was "we won't judge you if you've done something like rode an elephant in the past, but we WILL judge you going forward if you do, now knowing what you know". I thought that was such a powerful way to convey their message. We WILL be back here to I Love Phants/WFFT... it is easily one of the best experiences of my life and one of the coolest, most beautiful places in the world I've ever been. I cannot recommend it more.
