Where do I start?? The room was on the 6th floor with a balcony which was the best part because the AC had a mind of its own. The water came out yellow until I complained and then maintenance came to fix it. The breakfast was too basic. It wasn't worth paying for; better to walk down to the market and get something from there. Very disappointing with everything about this place, the roof-top pool was dirty, broken tiles everywhere and unsafe. The room rates are cheap but now we know why! The real sad part was the receptionists (women) who said that I damaged the towels and tried to charge me 500 bhat (£12 or $15). The women were excited, they had collected my used towels for the duration of my stay and tried to charge me for laundry as well. Poor service and the women staff I encountered were eager to make a quick bit of money before I left. Would never recommend this to anyone. It is close to the main streets but theres much better hotels nearby that are cleaner, friendlier, nicer and better value for money.…
Booked thru Expedia and bundled so I’m stuck. Started with checkin when I asked for a room on one of the higher floors and the kid checking me in did not even listen or try- simply pulling out a preassigned room from a folder. When I asked him for a better room he told it is a good floor- I told him it was on the 5th floor and all the buildings around it are 7-8 floors. I told him I would handle it in the morning and he snapped back “ya you handle it in the morning”- rude! Next issue was the safe- I asked for assistance because there were no instructions with the safe but I had provided the incorrect room number. I walked down to speak to them in person and got yelled at for providing the wrong room number- really? Honest mistake and I wasn’t upset when I went down stairs. When the guy comes upstairs to reset the safe he spoke to me like I was a child too. The final straw for me was the pool- or more like the “koi pond” that they call a pool. Attached are pictures- I have never seen the condition of a pool like this before... and it was still left open. I watched 3 guests come up and get ready to get in and walk away. The 4 other people that were up there were going over to the shower and “cooling off” and that was about it. I went to the front desk to ask what was going on with the pool? He said that they came yesterday and put chemicals in it but that he might have to come back. I told him there is algae growing on the tiles and it has been like that for s while. I told him I was staying at this hotel because of the pool on the roof and that I could have saved money by going with a hotel that did not have a pool. I asked for a refund and of course I was denied. Customer service is pretty bad here but I already knew that about Thailand and I have been here 5 times so it really isn’t that much a deterrent- and I am not high maintenance either. But when things line up like this it is frustrating. That is why I take Indonesia every day of the week over Thailand- people are sincere, honest and are always wanting visitors to have a good time. On no my AC just went out- wonder how this interaction will go? Wish me luck... suggesting the Sira Grand Hotel next door- a little better on the customer service. But if Phoenix Grand decides to turn the pool into a fishing pond (half way there already) that would be a unique idea! Oh- one more thing... the beds are unlike anything I have laid on. I’m sore every morning for how stiff the mattress is- it is more like a box spring than a mattress... miserable experience over all. I’m moving for next 5 nights.…
Stayed here for 6 nights. Room very nice and clean. Dining room (if you can call it that) is more like a work canteen. Breakfast caters more for Eastern Europeans. I.e. Cabbage, noodles, mixed meat and veg dishes. You can have an egg cooked before you. No butter, only margarine, but if you go to the kitchen they will give you some. Two choice of cereals. No nice croissant or decent bread, only standard sliced white. Two jams, no cheese or any other choice for the toast. Only one side of the toaster works and the toasting machine needs the bread putting through at least three times. The staff have to be told every time something runs out. There are sometimes bananas, or usually just melon and pineapple. You cannot sit out on the balcony for a revolting sewerage smell. Overall grotty place, and definitely would not come back. Would tell people to stay away.…
After traveling all night we arrived at reception about 10am. There was 2 staff at reception but we had to wait for them to finnish there discussion and book work before being told that our rooms were not available at this time. The reception was not like the glossier appearance in the brouchers with either staff, dress code or general reception appearance. Our baggage was placed in a storage room and we were advised to have breakfast or go for a walk. The dining area is like a boiler room and with a niff of stagnant water and sewage. Breakfast was ok, unlimited with a choice of 3 juices, 3 cereal, tea or coffee, rice, boiled vegetables, pasta, chicken sausage, ham, pancakes a good selection of fruits, cooked on request fried ,scrambled/ommlet eggs, toast slow to cook but acceptable and margarine, butter had to be requested. Some of the staff friendly but most seemed quite sad to be working there. The rooms were good with fridge, a/c. shower WC. with a secure safe and a little storage area all acceptable, the electric and water pipes on show in the rooms looked more office than rooms . The cleaning arrangement was excellent and very quick. The balcony was small and again very smelly, you would not want to stay out there to long. 9 floors and 2 lifts but 1 of them did not work. The 9 floor was the outside swimming area 9 sun beds and 2 tables with 4 seats at each and a little worn. The swim bath had many tiles missing and went from shallow to a variety of steps for depth difficult at first to understand and at 1 point hard to step out from, it was clean but the area was untidy and there was no shaded area. Because the hotel has an open frontage any traffic noise, mainly bikes can be heard with ease. I would not expect this hotel to be rated at 4 star and think it would struggle to be rated as 3. We would not consider staying here again.…
Stayed here for five nights. Hotel room comfortable enough, quite spacious with balcony (absolutely no view though, or balcony furniture!!) Has a roof top terrace and pool which is nice to relax around but no good for serious swimming, too small, loads of tiles missing too. Room was cleaned everyday, clean towels and top up on shower gel/toilet roll. No bar or communal lounge area or music. Near to Bangla road and street food market (lovely great fish/meats and noodles etc) Not too far to walk to beach either. WiFi worked well.
