After a two day rafting trip down the Pai River, the Fern resort was an oasis. Fern is very serene and peaceful, the rooms are like cabins. They were clean, with clean white towels. There is a lot of water around and the mosquitoes are fierce during the early evening. Shuttle service is available to downtown and to the airport.

We motorbiked between Pai and Mae Hon Song (200km+ roundtrip), and stayed here for our overnight. It's about 7km from the town so we stayed here for the evening and ate too. If you stay for more than a day the distance might be annoying. It was such a pretty resort, built on a gentle slope. At the top of... More

After asking the price of accommodation we were informed that the room would be 1300 baht and asked if we could inspect the room, on returning to reception and ready to check in the price had gone up to 1500 baht! We said we had agreed on a price but just insisted it now costs 1500, we did not stay,... More

We stayed here for 1 night during the Mae Hong Son loop with the Motorbike and loved our stay here. Although it is in the middle of the jungle we where not bothered by any insects as the bungalows are very well built. We made new friends in the kind dogs who follow you around and had a drink at... My husband and I stayed here for two nights. The resort itself is beautiful and very peaceful. Our bungalow looked out over a rice field in the front and a creek in the back. The bungalows are very large and well decorated. The bathrooms could use an update, but they are large and have a separate shower stall which I... More

Beautiful place with friendly staff but unfortunately problem with smelly bathroom in our cabin. They tried to repair but did not help. You then need to remind them to clean the bathroom after the repair :-) Swimmingpool is large though is getting old. Nice beds to sleep on but only four, so some had to sit on a plastic chair.... Stayed here two nights as part of Maehong son loop drive. I really struggled to find a place to stay around the area and was going to rate 2star after our first night as the bed (room 28) was so bad I barely slept. When I asked to change the room next morning, they changed it straight away. (Room 26)... More

The setting is superb, cottage are surrounded by forest and rice fields. Still rooms have all comfort and the hotel has a nice swimming pool. Service is good, staff are very friendly. You can walk out of the hotel into the national park. Mae Hong Soon is a quiet town with very few tourist compared to other places in Thailand... More

Mu husband and I found this place by chance and it was exactly what we needed. After busy cities like Bangkok and Chiang Mai, this was a peaceful and quite garden! The staff is wonderful and really helpful, they are people who grew up in the region and know it well. Fern is a beautiful natural place and the path... More

The nature and landscape is really beautiful... We had lovely size bungalow next the rice fields and the small stream. Very simple peaceful and quiet. No internet no TV but we love the time there. Staffs were friendly...breaking was basic but enough... The only comment I have is the smell in the bathroom.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Seven (7) km out of the town of Mae Hong Son , Fern Resort is nestled in a small valley. Surrounded by forest-covered mountains and rice paddies, it offers comfortable accommodation in unspoiled, yet soothing nature. A small creek and a well maintained ground with rich fauna and flora make this eco-tourism resort the perfect place to stay for nature lovers. We would like our resort to be the forest home for the naturalist who is looking for a peaceful place. You will not find telephones or TVs in your room, but instead you can enjoy the beautiful sounds of nature. ... more   less
