Detailed Reviews
The breakfast buffet and the staff were very good. Very polite front desk and helpful bell man. Great atmosphere around the pool and the garden, trees, and river scenery we as pleasant. Excellent spa.
About the food at dinner by the river. The streak was cooked excellent but why the chef does not season the steak is my question? Ruined a perfectly good steak. Please season your food when cooking. Simple salt, pepper, and maybe a little bit of garlic would have been great. About the room, when I was using the hot water , in the shower, the water pressure was very low. The rooms have a lack of power outlets and the ones Included are not beside the bed for charging phones. The bathroom had a cracked fixture and the hotel does not offer a razor if you forgot yours. The spa has a secret menu with lower prices for Thais.

We stayed here as part of a Titan tour group.
There are no lifts to upstairs rooms (only ground and first floor) and rooms are set out in separate blocks.
The bedroom area was fine, comfortable and enough room. No English on the TV, a shame as we like to keep abreast of news when away from home. Beds are spacious but the sheet on one could have been cleaner as there were a couple of marks probably from insects.
The bathroom was a little tired, the bath had seen better days and the shower was a little weak in terms of flow. Plumbing is narrow and so toilet paper must be put in a bin and not down the toilet.
The restaurant is outdoor although covered by a roof, mosquitoes were a bit of a pest around the whole site but not as bad as we expected them to be. Breakfast selection is good although there was no gluten free bread, there was other food for coeliacs though such as eggs, fruit and yogurt etc. Although we didn't have an evening meal there we heard that the restaurant was cheap and very good, just as well as there is really no-where else to go.
Outdoor areas are lovely. Nice pool area and superb bar seating area overlooking the river. The hotel is in a good location within easy reach by car of the Kwai bridge etc.
However, we did not appreciate the checking out procedure where you are not allowed to leave before the rooms have been checked to make sure nothing is missing, even the car park has a barrier pulled across for this. I realsie why they do this but surely like any other hotel such tiny losses must be included in the pricing structure.

We did 2 nights at the hotel with our family of 6 - the rooms are recently remodeled, super clean and are spread across a well-maintained garden that leads down to the river. Check in/out was easy, the rates were super reasonable, and the breakfast was impressive. The kids loved the pool, and we also had a good (albeit pricey for Thailand) dinner at the in-house restaurant on one of the nights. Service was friendly and we were a quick 10 minute drive to the center of town. While the rooms are remodeled, the beds weren’t the most comfortable, but overall we had a great stay and would happily come back.

This quiet hotel is located on the river bank.
The rooms are not large but suitable for a couple.
The rooms are nice, clean and pleasantly decorated
The pool is large, and breakfast is served in an open and covered area
In the evening you can sit in a restaurant by the river

We booked this place through Troy at SUP Hire Thailand because Royal River Kwai Resort & Spa is their partner hotel. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and well-kept. The rooms were comfortable except the beds are on the hard side. We had a good breakfast buffet on the weekend, but the weekday morning breakfasts were off a limited a la carte menu. This is understandable because there worry so few guests staying here. I would definitely stay here again. I highly recommend booking this resort through SUP Hire Thailand. (We also booked cycling and SUP activities with SUP Hire).

In my view, this represents fantastic value for money. The rooms are well maintained and modern. The showers and bathroom are excellent. The staff are quite delightful and the food is more than adequate. I take issue with the family who were critical of the food. We have stayed for two nights and I have enjoyed very decent food on both nights. The swimming pool is magnificent and there is a most relaxing atmosphere to the whole hotel. In the evening, there is an open restaurant area literally above the bank of the River Kwai. Dining by the edge of this historical river with a gentle breeze blowing is an outstanding experience. We paid around £60 per room and for this money it is excellent value. I suspect some other reviewers are a little unrealistic about what you can get for this price. I would certainly come here again.

This is a beautiful hotel overlooking the River Kwai. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable (my only criticism is the showers, which were really weak) and the environment really pretty and well maintained. Lots of lovely plants and flowers and well manicured lawns. The pool is excellent for playing and swimming in and has plenty of sunbeds for a good lounge about. My friend said the spa was very good too but I didn't partake. The restaurant overlooking the river is a lovely place to eat, and the service is friendly, but a little slow - many of the group were finishing their meal before others started. This may be because we were a big group of 9 but it was a little frustrating.
Otherwise, service was good from booking onwards and it was a lovely place to stay.

Booked hotel for a few days when visiting River Kwai, hotel is a few kms outside Kanchanaburi and hotel provides a shuttle into town twice a day, it is difficult to get a GRAB taxi though. Rooms are massive and beds really comfortable although a little dated. Tea coffee and water provided. Breakfast which was included was fantastic.
Hotel is very peaceful and backs onto the River Kwai.
The pool is fantastic
Had evening meal twice , food was really good albeit more expensive than in the town
Great location though for visiting River Kwai bridge and museum

I feel that my one night stay at this wonderful resort deserves a positive review as everything there exceeded my expectations and travellers really should give this resort a try.
As I was visiting Kanchanaburi to visit the famous 'Bridge on the River Kwai', the war graves and museums, and 'Hell Fire Pass' and so sought somewhere to stay overnight to break to my 3+ hour trip from Bangkok.
I booked directly with the hotel rather than through one of the booking companies.
On arrival I was greeted by the friendly staff and check in was efficiently completed quickly. The room was clean and spacious with a firm but comfortable super-king bed, and balcony overlooking the tropical garden area.
The outside restaurant overlooked the river and jungle beyond, and served an delicious variety of Asian food and very reasonable prices. There was also a very talented solo guitarist playing for several hours during the evening which added to the ambiance. The staff were all friendly and efficient.
My nights sleep was very peaceful and relaxing and not a sound could be heard outside.
Breakfast consisted of a variety of Asian and Western choices and was included in the price of the stay.
Overall, I was delighted with my choice of hotel in this area and would thoroughly recommend it.

We stayed there for 2 nights in the junior suite. Quiet spacious, SUPER clean and very nice view over the river.
Very great overall experience! I don’t know if it’s mainly due to the actual situation but the whole resort is amazingly clean! Rooms, public areas, pool, gardens! Approximately 15 minutes away from town I just came to know at the check out that they offer free shuttle to town every day.
Better to stay there with your own transportation and kids are welcome regarding the size of the pool.

Yes they can but car hire is quite cheap and the traffic is quiet around this area. We drive from Bangkok which was a bit busy but ok once out of the city.
The journey from Bangkok airport to the hotel is three hours so can't be done in a tuc tuc. a taxi would be a very reasonable £40
YES ,there are many places and very cheap
Dis tance is around 20 km from city center
and the road is very good.
Tiger Temple is good.
