In my view, this represents fantastic value for money. The rooms are well maintained and modern. The showers and bathroom are excellent. The staff are quite delightful and the food is more than adequate. I take issue with the family who were critical of the food. We have stayed for two nights and I have enjoyed very decent food on both nights. The swimming pool is magnificent and there is a most relaxing atmosphere to the whole hotel. In the evening, there is an open restaurant area literally above the bank of the River Kwai. Dining by the edge of this historical river with a gentle breeze blowing is an outstanding experience. We paid around £60 per room and for this money it is excellent value. I suspect some other reviewers are a little unrealistic about what you can get for this price. I would certainly come here again.…
A nice hotel with a large swimming pool. We had dinner in the restaurant that has Michelin allures, but our experience was that it does not even the name snackbar. The problem is, that it is part of a resort, so you do not really have an alternative for diner. As a starter we had the fried loempia’s. I think they were already standing under a hot plate for a while. When we mentioned that to the waiter the brought them back to the kitchen. After a while we got them back like chewing gum. They fried them again. Every cook knows this does not work. As a main dish a had a tenderloin steak that was not hot and was more chewing gum. The mushroom were just cold. My wife had salmon that was cold and raw on the inside. This kitchen is a shame for every cook. I can only advice you to look for a different place for diner. The food is not only bad, but much to expensive for the quality offered. Stay away!!…
WE stayed at this resort for 3 nights with friends. The rooms are basic but very clean and reasonably spacious with a nice balcony. The location of the hotel is stunning on the bank of the River Kwai. There are not many better place to eat an evening meal. The food was good with a reasonable selection. The pool area was very nice , butt could probably do with a few more more beds at busy times. Staff were helpful but some did not speak basic english. This included the reception where it meant communication was difficult with some staff. Overall a beautiful place to spend a few days and great vale for money.
An Ideal spot to relax and take in all the imprssions of this historic location. The hotel breathes an old style, of times when the world seemed less complicated. The views of the river are spectacular, especially when you're on one of the restaurant terraces. The pool is nice and cooling. We were there for one night only (2 adults, 2 children 11, 13y) but wished we could have stayed a little longer.
We used the hotel as a stopover for one night. The rooms were large and clean and the swimming pool was beautiful. We ate dinner and lunch here and whilst the food was fine, service was very slow so make sure you allow plenty of time, even for ordering something simple like french fries. Fine for one night and seemed very quiet as we were the only people at the pool for four hours the morning of our pick up. Two restaurant areas, one on the River Kwai and had a live singer the night we stayed.
A Lovely old-style family resort on the river banks the Royal River Kwai Resort is a nice place to stay in Kanchanaburi. Quiet, peaceful with few visitors, the hotel is one of the older style hotels dotted throughout Thailand - large well-kept grounds, big rooms full of closet spaces (nothing trendy here), far from the downtown entertainment scene. The highlight of our stay was the spa - excellent older Thai masseuses giving a great Thai massage in the beautiful glass room right next to the river. What could be better? We'll return just for the massage!
This quiet hotel is located on the river bank. The rooms are not large but suitable for a couple. The rooms are nice, clean and pleasantly decorated The pool is large, and breakfast is served in an open and covered area In the evening you can sit in a restaurant by the river
We did 2 nights at the hotel with our family of 6 - the rooms are recently remodeled, super clean and are spread across a well-maintained garden that leads down to the river. Check in/out was easy, the rates were super reasonable, and the breakfast was impressive. The kids loved the pool, and we also had a good (albeit pricey for Thailand) dinner at the in-house restaurant on one of the nights. Service was friendly and we were a quick 10 minute drive to the center of town. While the rooms are remodeled, the beds weren’t the most comfortable, but overall we had a great stay and would happily come back.
Loved everything about this resort. stayed here twice. the room was spacious with the largest bed i have ever seen. The location is fantastic, the dinner by riverside is really good, the staff is extremely courteous and the entire area including the river bank is very clean. Only one suggestion, it would be great if they keep an electric kettle and a couple of tea/coffee sachets in the room.
We booked this place through Troy at SUP Hire Thailand because Royal River Kwai Resort & Spa is their partner hotel. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and well-kept. The rooms were comfortable except the beds are on the hard side. We had a good breakfast buffet on the weekend, but the weekday morning breakfasts were off a limited a la carte menu. This is understandable because there worry so few guests staying here. I would definitely stay here again. I highly recommend booking this resort through SUP Hire Thailand. (We also booked cycling and SUP activities with SUP Hire).
