My friend booked us here for one night on our travels beautiful scenery so relaxing . Very authentic staff very friendly great value for €13 per night. Easy walk to the main thoroughfare. Thai food is excellent they they also provide western food like steaks spaghetti etc.
This is one of the several floating raft lodges right over the river khwaei. It is not fancy and nor do they charge you as such, but excellent value for money and the staff was nice and friendly. All in all great value for money.
I stayed here for 3 nights and during the time the kitchen never opened, my sheets weren't changed, no hot water in the shower. The vinyl on the floor of the room tore and lifted as you walked on it. The towels were torn and should have been used as rags. The room was quite noisy with people passing it and the local reggae band playing until around 3am The place was clean and the staff friendly
We booked a room with a river view and it was amazing! Watching the waters flow in the evenings, the place it’s self is abit unkept and there’s is very very little option to stay and eat but in honesty you can just walk 5 minutes to the night market or 5 minutes the other direction for more restaurants the bridge over the river Kwai is 25/30 minute walk so maybe hire a moto bike as the tut tut will charge 80baht and they’re 20baht usually!! So don’t get scammed!! You can ride to Erawan falls and just pay at the main gate 300baht! Or just pay to go on a tour and save your self the drive but this place has the most beautiful waterfalls so it’s a must!
My partner booked us in to Tara Raft for several nights over Christmas and it certainly didn't disappoint. We'd spent the day travelling from Chiang Mai via plane and minibus and by the time we got here we were absolutely knackered. Tara Raft is literally a raft. It's a bit tatty on the outside however every changes when you go down to the floor that contains the rooms. We stayed in room 9 and this was at the far end of the corridor. It was a small double that contained a fridge, a TV with cable and a wet room. There was also a massive mosquito net that hangs above the bed. This would become useful during the evening's. The room itself was clean, well furnished and the housekeeping staff did a brilliant job during our stay. The highlight of this place had to be that every room has a small balcony/outside area that backs onto the River Kwai. Most evenings were spent out here watching the world go by. We will be returning to Kanchanaburi and will no doubt be returning to Tara Raft subject to there availability. …
