I went travelling with 3 friends and Kanchanaburi was our first stop. We ended up staying at the Jolly Frog for 6 nights in total, for 100 baht a night. What a bargain! Room is very basic but clean and that's all that matters. Each twin room has its own shower room attached so you don't have to shower communally.... More

Room is clean and sufficient. There is an awesome courtyard with hammocks and plenty of place to sit and you will always meet some great people while there. Backpackers from all over the world and plenty of Thai as well. There are optional boat-houses for rent and great views of the river. Also, all of the best bars and pubs... More

First came to the Jolly Frog in 1998. Came back in 2000 and then again in 2004. Hadn't been since but went back yesterday. Loved it. The rooms are so basic. Air con is a lottery - mine was very cool but a tad noisy you could argue. My friends weren't so lucky. Clean room though albeit very basic. But... More

Compare to what you get I think it's not cheap I paid 320 for an "aircon room" with and aircon that never cools down this room at all. The aircon noise level was terrible but after 30 years in work that's normal I guess. The door frame to the bathroom was rotten away the bed was hard. I rather pay... More

I was surprised by the standard of this property for the price I paid. I found the staff to be extremely friendly and my room was basic, but clean and comfortable. I had a fan room, so no issues with air-con. I REALLY enjoyed my stay here, it came at the end of a month long trek. I went down... More

On our first night, we ended up meeting the owner of the Jolly Frog. He showed us a few cool bars, and introduced us to loads of people. We told him that we planned on going to the waterfalls, so he told other places that we needed to check out. Such a sweet and helpful man. The hotel itself it... More

Was sceptical about staying here after hearing from so many people about the rude staff and faulty fans/aircon. Can't speak for the aircon as we got a fan room, but the staff were very friendly and our fan works perfectly. Nice sized room, comfy bed, nice bathroom.. All very clean. 280Baht for fan room private bathroom.

Despite other reviews the staff at jolly frog were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They were their from early in the morning until late at night to help out. Easy to book tours around local area from tourist desk. Gardens are beautiful with river pontoon and hammocks. Rooms are poor and the aircon doesn't work however they only cos 280baht for... More

Wherever I stay, all I want is for the room to be kept spick and span. Everything else is just bells and whistles. So, I'm happy to report that this place scrubs up nice and well. It's clean, and it's kept clean. Good location, too. It's a short walk to the train station (if that's how you're gonna be travelling).... More

It is said in the Lonely planet: don't expect a jolly welcome from the owners or staff. After a few days we got some smiles back (mostly from the waiters working in the restaurant), I think mainly because we stayed friendly and positive to them even though they looked annoyed. The reason for this is still unknown to us. We... More
