Staying at Bambu was delightful and one of the most memorable parts of our trip to northern Thailand. The combination of a beautiful environment, exceptional accommodations and the thoughtful and sincere attention of Mark and Ya made this a great visit. We can't wait to return!
Bambuh Boutique Homestay is an accommodation to which I will definitely return. Ya and Mark have created the most amazing retreat, located only 10 km. north of Chiang Rai. The rooms are built of Teak wood, in the traditional northern Thai wooden architectural style, and surrounded by lush jungle landscaping. Beyond the palms and tall trees are glimpses of green-gold rice fields and pineapple plantations. I sat on my terrace at dawn every morning, serenaded by hundreds of birds perched in the surrounding trees. Inside, the rooms are outfitted with all the modern conveniences and some special touches, like bathroom walls made of smooth round rocks that Mark and Ya hauled from the Mekong River. This is a very special place and I highly recommend it, especially if you want to get away from it all for a few days. But never fear, if you still need to stay connected to the world, they offer rocket-fast wifi in the rooms.…
If you ever want to stay in a haven of laid back beauty this is the place The owners have put a lot of tenderness and care into creating this wonderful tasteful boutique guest house set in the countryside outside Chiang Rai Stunningly spacious rooms, great breakfasts and dinners and totally amazing sunsets with orchestrated bird songs at dusk! One of the highlights of our many travels! Thank you Mark and Kaya!
If you want to be close to the hustle and bustle, this is not the place, but if you want to be in the hustle and bustle you might want to rethink Chiang Rai as a destination in any event. Bambuh Boutique was very calming. The rooms were fine, the common spaces were inviting, and the optional meals were inexpensive and delicious. (After the first cup, be aware, you pay full cafe prices for coffee, so budget that in if you are a caffeine addict). The free bicycles were functional, but I wouldn’t take them out of the neighborhood. Within the neighborhood is the Black Temple, which is more erotic art installation than traditional temple, but an intriguing stroll on the wild side. You can’t walk to town, but you can walk to where buses and tuk tuks stop, or you could easily and inexpensively just call a driver via Grab. Best plan is to bring some light reading and someone you love, and recharge. The hosts were delightful and helpful. For example, they set us up with some awesome bike guides (chiangraibicycletour@yahoo.com) who picked us up at the homestay and took us on one of the best touring days we’ve had in a long time. In short, Bambuh Boutique is a lovely option if you are in the market for what they do.…
Alll have to say is WOW. What a gem. The place looked cute from the photos, but in person it is truly magical. Bambuh is a beautifully designed and cared for boutique bed and breakfast. The hosts, Mark and Ya, pour so much love into everything there and it really shows. The grounds are beautiful, quaint and serene. Beautiful bird chirping echoes through the trees in the early mornings, so peaceful. For breakfast they literally invite you into their home and cook for you while you sit at their table or on the patio. Everything from Ya’s savory Thai breakfast rice soup, to the organic, locally sourced coffee and banana pancakes was delicious. Mark gave us great tips on where to find the best markets each night and they rented us one of their motorbikes, which was very convenient. Also their dog, Tess was the sweetest thing. My fiancé and I fell in love with this little homestay and we are already talking about returning again soon. Thank you!…
