My girlfriend and I had the most incredible six-day stay at Pa Sak Tong in Chiang Rai, and I can't recommend this place highly enough! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such warmth and hospitality that made our entire experience truly unforgettable.

The villa itself is nestled in paradise—surrounded by lush greenery, offering complete privacy, and designed with the perfect blend of traditional Thai elegance and modern luxury. Every detail was carefully thought out, making it feel like a true sanctuary.

The experiences that made our trip special, we had an amazing mix of relaxation, adventure, and cultural moments and these were some of our absolute highlights:

Dining at Locus Food Lab – A mind-blowing culinary experience! Every dish was beautifully crafted by the Head chef, Kong, using local ingredients, and the flavors were absolutely unique. A must-try for any foodie. The wine pairing was also really well done.
Spa treatments – The massages and wellness treatments were world-class, leaving us feeling completely rejuvenated. Steam room and cold plunge were wonderful.
Elephant sanctuary visit – One of the most heartwarming experiences! We got up close with these gentle giants, feeding and bathing them and learned about ethical elephant conservation.
Night Bazaar – A fun and vibrant experience, filled with delicious street food, local crafts, and a lively atmosphere.
Water Buffalo – Such a unique activity! We watched them play, and it was a fascinating insight into local farm life. Even got in a snuggle with one of the cows.
Koi fish feeding & swimming – A calming and beautiful moment. We loved the peaceful setting and getting to interact with the koi. In both ponds.
Campfire under the stars – One of the most romantic and cozy experiences of our trip!
Hiking & visiting the Buddha Sanctuary – A serene and spiritual experience, topped off by a meaningful conversation about nature and philosophy with a monk, which left a lasting impression on us.
Service & Hospitality – Beyond Expectations
The staff at Pa Sak Tong truly made our stay exceptional! Their attention to detail, warm hospitality, and willingness to go above and beyond made us feel so special. Every experience was curated to perfection, and we felt like we were in our own private oasis.

Final Thoughts
Pa Sak Tong is so much more than just a resort—it’s an experience of a lifetime. Whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxation, or cultural immersion, this place has it all. If you’re ever in Chiang Rai, this is the place to stay. We’ll definitely be back! Thank you!!

This resort is more than simply a 5 star resort. Pa Sak Tong is a unique, exclusive villa style experience that is absolutely exquisite. The main villa is spacious and beautifully decorated with the finest linens, furnishings and fixtures. The dedicated superior service led by Khun Tai is impeccable attending to our every need and wish. Chef Khun Nid worked magic in the kitchen delivering tasty meals from traditional Thai, American-style breakfasts with delicious fresh fruit, and Japanese Bento Boxes. Walking around the grounds and taking a private rural walk with the General Manager, John, led to a sense of serenity and peace. John shared his immense knowledge of the region sharing his insights in the flora, fauna and vegetation (including teachings about natural rubber trees!). With the breathtaking views, Pa Sak Tong is truly an experience of a lifetime.

We just returned from an unforgettable six-day, five-night stay at Pa Sak Tong, a private luxury resort in Chiang Rai, Thailand. From the moment we arrived, we were swept away by the serene beauty of the lush surroundings and the impeccable attention to detail. The staff, anticipating our every need with warmth and grace. Our villa was a perfect blend of elegance and comfort, with stunning views that made every morning magical. The food was a highlight—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Whether lounging by the pool or exploring the nearby wonders of Chiang Rai, we felt completely pampered and at peace. This hidden gem is a must-visit for anyone craving a luxurious escape. We can’t wait to return!"

We arrived at Pa Sak Tong to our butlers providing cold towels and drinks which was very welcome in the heat! The approach to the main building creates a sense of anticipation as you pass through dense bamboo to emerge into the jaw dropping view of the main building nestled in rice paddies and flower filled koi ponds.

Our host Khun John was fantastic both before and during the visit. He checked in multiple times a day to ensure that all our needs were met and to suggest other experiences that would delight us.

We were thrilled with the layout of the main villa as every room provided picturesque views both in the day as well as at night when the staff light torches throughout the rice paddies.

The food was outstanding with everything from Thai dishes to custom Japanese bento boxes being served at lunch. No wish was unsatisfied and our butlers quickly learned our preferences and delivered our favourite cocktails or coffees throughout the day.

The spa building is gorgeous with a talented masseuse.

Once there it is so hard to tear yourself away.

Our sincere thanks to Khun John, Khun Tai and Khun Nit and staff for an amazing stay.

Our trip to the north this year was extra special, we were extremely pleased to end the trip at Pa Sak Tong, Chiang Rai, wonderful villas in the woods surrounded by vegetation and breathtaking views. Each villa is private, hidden between beautiful nature, rice paddies, lotus ponds, canals and forest, the six villas joined together by a pebbled walkway, everything was designed so perfectly!

All the staff was cordial and pleasant, offering the best service all around. We were absolutely blown away! The were professional and hospitable, in Thai and English.

We are woken up by a lovely breakfast overlooking a view of the rice paddies, peppered with water buffalos. It was one of the most memorable views from the trip.

Khun Perry, our host, graciously gave us wonderful tips on where to go and what to see. On the second day, we had dinner at the restaurant and took a little walk around the site and everything was laid out so perfectly; the wine, the candles, the florals—not too much, not too little. We ended the night with a beautiful Loy Kratong Festival under the full moon and starry night.

On the third day we went on a pleasant 2-hour hike and a picnic on Doi Chang, the weather was brisk and beautiful and the hike was lined with trees. Khun Perry then took us to a peaceful bamboo forest at the Doi Chang Buddhist Park to clear our minds.

Our last night we went to the Locus Native Food Lab by Chef Kong at Pa Sak Tong, we were so impressed by the quality of food and atmosphere provided to us by the restaurant. Our menu sourced from local and native ingredients, put together in the most thoughtful fashion. I highly recommend booking a meal here when you visit!

Pa Sak Tong gave us peace and unmatchable pleasantries that we couldn’t have imagined. It was a warm, inviting, and thoughtful, void of pretentiousness. It was the most wonderful, perfect trip that I would recommend to anyone who visits.

Dear Khun Ni and your wonderful team, thank you for such a peaceful perfect stay. Every hour with you all was worth 24 hours of relaxation. Pa Sak Tong was beautiful with fantastic facilities for all our family including the pool, gym, magical gardens and stunning views. The food was delicious and so well presented. Above all it was your thoughtful care at every moment that meant the most - taking us on nature walks to explore the stunning setting, washing the elephants, playing rugby and rounders with the children at Bethesda Orphanage, then coming home to your warm smiles and fabulous food. A wonderful family stay which we will always treasure. Very best wishes and thanks to you all. The Blackburns.

This is our 3rd visit to Pa Sak Tong and we went through a lot of hassle to get here in Covid time but it was totally worth it. It was like coming home when we entered the villa. The staff are like family and remembered all of our needs including my morning coconut before going to the gym. A previous reviewer called the staff angels and they are completely correct because at Pa Sak Tong you feel like you are in heaven!
What is amazing is how after 6 years of us visiting the place looks better than the first time. John and his Team put a huge effort into keeping everything beautiful and as there is so much teak wood I can imagine this is a lot of work.
The food as always was amazing and chef Nid did her best to give us very interesting tastes of unique northern Thai cuisine. We also dined at Locus Native Food Lab and all I can say is do not miss this opportunity. This is a new addition to Pa Sak Tong, a chef’s table experience and it is completely one of the best dining experiences we have had in Asia.
We had some great hikes and loved the views of the endless mountain ranges on the view to Myanmar. Exotic picnics accompanied us up the mountains and with a chilled bottle of wine to enjoy and a cappuccino to follow what more could you ask for!
This is the best resort in Thailand by far on so many levels. In our many years of traveling in Asia we have never experienced this level of service or quality anywhere. This is not 5 star it is 7 star in all ways.
Thank you John and the amazing Team of angels at Pa Sak Tong for giving us the best holiday so far, we will be back many more times to this amazing property.

This small boutique hotel cannot be faulted! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special. Everything that I want to say is in superlatives. From the decor to the staff to the food, all is wonderful. I haven't stayed anywhere else comparable and perhaps should be kept for the end of the trip rather than the beginning. What a start to our holiday.

Having just completed our 2 week visit to South East Asia, I must say that our 5 day stay at Pa Sak Tong was a perfect place to begin our holiday. Upon our arrival, we were met with warm and friendly greetings from John Dunbar, the GM, hostesses Ni and Fon, and chef Boy.
Serenity and relaxation are the main attractions here with the world's best Thai massage from Ant, and great yoga sessions with John in the beautiful 'sala' overlooking lush tropical plantings, and rice paddies with mountains in the background.
There is no shortage of interesting activities in the Chiang Rai area. During our stay we visited the night market, the dazzling White Temple, the Opium museum in the Golden Triangle, and had an amazing mountain hike led by a hill tribe chief and John. A fabulous picnic awaited us at the end of the trail.
The private villa is beautiful, and tastefully furnished with Thai antiquities. There are fresh floral arrangements artistically done by Ni and Fon throughout.
We enjoyed most meals on the terrace, prepared by the very talented Chef Boy. His English skills are excellent, so he was able to fill our every request. His pomelo salad, and all salads made with greens from their organic garden are highly recommended. Great service matched the wonderful meals.
All in all, a perfect paradise!

My friend and I were in Chiang Rai last week and stayed at Pa Sak Tong. It was a completely random choice as I happened to stumble upon the property on booking.com. And how glad we were with this random choice!

Much has been said in earlier reviews of the “hardware”. I won’t dwell too much on that here. The pictures speak for themselves. Suffice to say, it is the ultimate of luxury in terms of space, facilities, quality of fittings and (something which causes the downfall of many other aspiring luxury resorts) maintenance.

But “hardware” is the easier part of a resort to get right. The software is what defines the resort as outstanding and I must say that John Dunbar, the GM, and his crew have done a great job in putting Pa Sak Tong at the pinnacle of service excellence. Thoughtful, warm, spontaneous and genuine are adjectives which come readily to mind and key factors which made our stay at the resort almost magical.

I shall just leave a few anecdotes here to illustrate what I mean.

It’s clichéd to say that first impressions are important. My first encounter with John was when I emailed the resort to ask about transport arrangements from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai, as we were going to stay 2 nights in Chiang Mai upon arrival before heading north. I also wanted to know more about activities we could arrange while staying at Pa Sak Tong. John’s reply went beyond transport and resort activities. He noted where we were staying in Chiang Mai and strongly recommended that we dine at a nearby Italian restaurant, Piccola Roma Palace (yes, he is the GM mentioned in my review of the restaurant). He even helped us make reservations at the restaurant! That was not all – when we subsequently went for our dinner at Piccola Roma, we were told that John had not just called once to make the reservation, but had called a second time before we arrived in Chiang Mai to make sure that everything was in order!!

This kind of thoughtfulness and warmth were felt throughout our stay. Khun Ni, our villa hostess, and her colleagues made sure we were thoroughly pampered but always unobtrusively and subtle. John made it a point to pop by each morning and joined us in the evening for drinks and chatted with us during dinner, just as a good friend staying the area would do.

On the second evening after dinner and drinks when John got up to leave for home, my friend and I, without thinking, stood up to see him to the door. It then struck us how much we had fallen under the spell of John and his crew – we had been made to feel so much at home by the second day that it felt completely natural for us to see John off as our guest! Now, I’m sure you would agree that that’s one tough act to follow.

[P/S: Pa Sak Tong operates on a full-boarding basis with all meals and house pours included in the villa rate, something not very clear on the various booking sites like booking.com. Check out the resort’s website for more details.]

Dear Georg, Thank you for your question. Normally we do not make comparisons with our property and others as we are a completely different kind of resort. We are a private estate compared to a public hotel. We are absolutely serious about what we provide at Pa Sak Tong as no other property in the area comes close to our service, standard of luxury and quality. The villa is completely private and self-contained located on over 25 acres of pristine gardens and rice fields. Unlike the Four Seasons and Le Meridian you have your own swimming pool, Spa, gym and dine alone. You are met by your own Estate Butler who is with you during the entire trip from the time you arrive at the airport until we bid you farewell. The villa comes with its very own private chef. All estate staff are trained in Europe and speak fluent English. Our therapists are world class and provide healing and therapeutic massage. Lastly we are only 25 minutes from the Chiang Rai airport instead of the 2 hour drive to the Four Seasons, provide 10 times the living space and are half the price! Your interest is of course appreciated - we have 100% perfect rating on Trip Advisor and by reading our guest's reviews you can truly understand how unique and spectacular PaSakTong is. We look forward to welcoming you to experience Northern Thailand in amazing style. John Dunbar General Manager Pa Sak Tong
