I visit Chiang Rai about once per year. My regular hotel has actually raised their rates during COVID while most others have lowered their price. So, this trip I chose the Saan Hotel which turned out to be a wise choice! The location is good, the room was very good and the staff were the best! My only problem was - every time I walked in/out, all the ladies at reception would stand up and greet me ;-)
The breakfast was a set menu due to the COVID situation, but they do offer 3 western and 3 Thai options. I found the food very good.

I wasn't expecting much based upon the price I paid and having never heard of it. Whoa. From being greeted at the lobby, receiving a lovely welcome drink along with fast and efficient check in, I was wondering if I was in the right place. I was thoroughly impressed. Upon entry into my room I was again surprised. The room was much larger than the pictures let on. The doorman was great and we ended up running into each other one night at a pub and had a few laughs. Next came breakfast which was perfect. Had something for everyone. The Sann will now be my hotel of choice in the CR area for future trips. Thank you to the wonderful staff for making the trip memorable.

I stayed here from 21st to 23rd of May 2022, and i think i was their first Indonesian guest of that month (or even this year). So here's my review:
1. Check in was smooth, receptionist was so friendly.
2. Location is great, in the heart of down town Chiangrai. 1 minute away from the famous Golden Clock Tower.
3. Room was spacious, tidy and clean. Linen was clean and crisp. Bathroom is spacious, and i love the hairdryer. Lol
4. The bell boy speaks a lil bit english.
5. Breakfast was okay, not so many option. The restaurant was well decorated.
Overall it was worth the price. Will definitely come back to stay in this hotel whenever i visit Chiangrai again.

The property is promoted as luxurious. Not so. Yes, there is a magnificent lobby, yes, some of the staff do their best to be helpful but:
My room, on the second floor, had no window. There was what looked like a window, but all windows on the street side of the lower floors are covered up by an add-on facade.
The room was clean and the bed was good. However, the only light in the room was from a glaring overhead lamp. No soft lighting, no reading lamp -- either on or off.
There is no desk at an appropriate height for computer use or writing.
The security box is tiny, too small for even a small laptop (MS Surface)
There is a spacious restaurant/coffee shop in the lobby. However, it is open only for breakfast.
The unfailingly polite staff suddenly lost all their language skills when I asked for a different room on an upper floor, preferably one with better lighting.
Thank God I was only here for 3 miserable days.
Chiang Rai, by the way, is lovely.

We spent one night only at the Sann Hotel and it was a good experience, not great, definitely not great. First the good things: modern, spacious, clean, slick hotel with a good location, the staff was friendly and the pool is amazing specially after a hot day of walking and sightseeing. Now for the bad, this is not a 4 stars hotel but I could be with a little effort. Our room was located in the second floor, it had a huge window with a completely obstruct view, no 4 star hotel gives you a view of a wall! there was no natural light and the rooms lighting is either all lights on or all the lights off, there’s no night light or side lamp. Don’t get a room in the second floor. The water pressure was amazing, like AMAZING, but it was warm at best, almost cold. The breakfast serves until 10 or 11, at 8:40 there was no juice and they never serve more, the coffee was disgusting. I think with a better management this hotel could be really great, but for now is just meh. I wouldn’t come for more than 1 night maybe 2.

Saan Hotel is so good I want to give 10 stars. Impeccably clean, modern and classy. I paid just over £40 per night GBP. including breakfast.
Staff were all friendly and helpful.
Swimming pool was fantastic and deserted most days.
Personally my only minor criticism is the breakfast which is aimed towards Thai people so curry, rice, noodles etc for breakfast is strange and not ideal for Western tastes. More selection of fruits would be better. But, I still enjoyed the breakfast.
***. Highly recommended ***
Good size
Quiet
Clean
Only Thai TV. An English news channel would be a good idea.

This is a beautifully decorated, clean hotel with the friendliest staff you could ever imagine. Great breakfast buffet with lots of options and close to everything! The rooms are very spacious and the pool is one of the most beautiful I’ve seen in SE Asia. Perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring the area.

Clean, clean, clean

Hotel is great value, and management has trained the staff extremely well.

Even the pool surrounding areas were being professionally cleaned.

Bed is comfortable and linens were new and crisp.

Very good location for walking about.

Thank you!

Fantastic hotel, I can’t believe you get all of that for such a cheap price! Pool was perfect, so clean and great temp. The staff were all so friendly and came and said hi to our son every time they saw us. The buffet breakfast was delicious. The whole hotel was so beautiful, it felt like a brand new hotel. My only criticism would be that the wifi wasn’t very good. Great spot to stay in the middle of the city in walking distance of night market. We will stay here again next time!

I stayed over 1 night and my stay was enough comfortable. The room was spacious and clean with overlooking the temple in front of the hotel. The bed was good enough, the bathroom was clean and the water pressure was strong. The staffs are warmly welcomed and friendly. If I go back to Chiang Rai and prefer to stay in town, this hotel will be my choice.
