This can be considered as a budget accommodation, and to have traveled in those kind of places for three months now, chat house can be considered as a good deal. You can get rooms with shared bathroom for 200baht/night, the rooms are a little bit old but the linen is very clean, the fan was a bit old and noisy,...

We stayed at chat house for one night. The room was cheap and clean enough but a little run down and could have done with a refurb. But it did the job. The fan in the room was very old and squeaked whilst on. We had a quiet nights sleep. The rooms are set around a communal garden area with...

Didn't have a booking in chiang rai and was brought here on a whim by a tuktuk - and so glad for it! The price is unbeatable - we got a private room with two twin beds for 100b a night (each), very clean and quiet. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, helped us find a bus to Bangkok...

We stayed at Chat house by chance just two days before Songkran. They were able to give all six of our group comfortable accommodation for only 100 baht a night. The place was a bit old but clean enough for my taste. The real treat was how helpful the staff were. They hooked us up with a fairly priced trip...

We did not stay at the chat guesthouse during our stay in Chiang Rai, but we used their services to organize our trip in the jungle. They have a few guides, who are all local people, working with them. Our guide, Fido, made our trip really magical and unforgettable. He is very knowledgeable about tribes culture, fauna and flora of...

We're fine with budget accommodations, but our stay at the Chat House was the only one we regretted in our month of travel in Thailand & Laos. It's a dingy, dirty and kind of depressing place. The office staff was only friendly when they were selling tour packages, otherwise they weren't friendly nor helpful.

I wento to Chiang Rai to meet up with a guide who would take me into Myanmar for a few days jungle and mountain trekking. He recommended Chat House as a good place to meet so I booked for 3 days via internet. I arrived on a night flight from Bangkok and after being assured by the taxi driver that...

Reviewed 10 October 2013 This was the bottom line of accomodation in 2.5 months of our travel around Thailand. The touting tuk tuk drivers should have been enough warning for us not to go there but as we remembered positive reviews of this place we gave it a go. The place was dirty, full of insects and supernoisy. The room...

Lets start with the good : cheap place, pretty clean and not too far from the market. Now the bad: the staff, despite their friendly attitude tried to rip off our money! First, they made us pay twice for the breakfast : i left before my boyfriend and paid and then asked my boyfriend to pay when he was leaving!...

We stayed here for several days and despite the staff being very nice and fairly helpful, there seems to be a lack off care taken over the place. Rooms are pretty run down and the communal area feels like its long past it's heyday. The food was not bad and well priced. The central courtyard at times was filled with...
