We stayed at the Lanjia Lodge in April 2015. We found the entire concept fascinating and have a real interest in the Hill People of Thailand and Laos. We were not disappointed. This lodge is excellent, run by the local Hill People of the Hmong and Lahu tribes. The views have to be seen to be believed, a photograph does... More

While the nights were very chilly, the atmosphere, service, and opportunities were really great. I was sad to leave. We did the soft trek, planted butterfly trees, visited both the Hmong and Lahu villages, tried our hand at batik, ate wonderful meals, and absolutely took in the dramatic view from our guest house.

I stayed here with some students I go to school with and we had a blast.! It was perfect for bonding and we had the full Hmong and Lahu experience. The service was the absolute best, and made us all feel so at home. Thanks to Lanjia Lodge for giving me such a 5 star experience yet still keeping it... More

My husband and I stayed at Lanjia Lodge on 1st and 2nd January 2015. Our accommodation was very comfortable with wonderful views of the valley and Mekong River from our terrace, where we had our meals. We were very fortunate to have our lodge to ourselves which made our stay even more special. The couple, who served our meals and... More

In the heart of the Golden Triangle, a unique lodge with 4 rooms in each bamboo hut and a central eating area. Pretty basic facilities but a beautiful setting. Dinner is served on the terrace and the food is good. Hmong dancers entertain after dinner is a very short program. We were the only ones in our hut but if... More

On the border of Laos and Thailand, above the Mekong River, the view of the valley from the lodge was so peaceful and almost mystical. We could hear village life, children, chickens roosters, dogs, from our lodge. En route to a 2 day Mekong river cruise, we stayed at this amazing thatched bamboo lodge for one night and wish we could... More

We stayed for a night in January and regretted why didn't plan for a longer stay. The reviewers before me have given all I wanted to detail out. Authentic, spectacular views, calm and friendly people and the lodge itself are all a good mixture which welcome you once you put your step in the villages. The transport to the lodge... More

We stayed at Lanjia Lodge for 1 night as part of an Asian Oasis 'walking' tour. Its location is amazing, set high up in the mountains overlooking the Mekong River and neighbouring Laos. It was a good 2 hour drive from Chiang Rai, but well worth it. The lodge itself is beautiful and every little detail is very authentic, with... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Lanjia, or 'peaceful' in Hmong language, is an eco-friendly community-based lodge nestled high on a hill in Chiang Rai Province, northern Thailand. Offering dramatic vistas of the Mekong Valley and Laos, it is in complete harmony with the lush green environment as well as the Hmong and Lahu villages in which it is located. Your hosts at the Lanjia Lodge are the proud Hmong and Lahu villagers who take care of all visitors and all activities at the lodge during your stay. All visitors are taken on personal tours of the villages where they can freely intermingle and even meet the local shamans. Contributions from your stay will be used on community projects that will improve the local hill tribe people's living conditions. A variety of packages is available, all of which have been created to give you an insight into the culture of the Hmong and Lahu people. Choose from trekking tours, a boat ride on the mighty Mekong River or a visit to the nearby Golden Triangle. The lodge is only 30 minute drive to the Thailand-Laos border and immigration check-point where many tourists board an overnight boat to the world heritage site of Luang Prabang, Laos. There is no public transportation between Lanjia Lodge and the border. We can arrange a car or a van for guests who stay at the lodge and continue their trip to Luang Prabang. Our prices include accommodation in comfortable king-size or twin bedded rooms with en-suite bathrooms (where applicable), electric fans (non air-conditioned), meals and drinks as specified in the programs, as well as English speaking tour/activity guides. ... more   less
