Had a great stay at Lanjia for 4 days. Thanks to the itinerary put together by the lodge, our days were filled with activities like a batik art class, morning trek to a waterfall. They also took us on day trips around the region to visit the golden triangle and other wellknown landmarks. Our hotel driver knew of great local... More

Breathtaking! This lodge is located in a Hmong Village. It is very secluded. If you are into nature and beautiful scenery, this place is for you. The hut we stayed in had electricity, a western bathroom and Hott water. We were given a hot spot to access wifi. Two women stay in the hut with us. They served our meals... More

We were a group of 10 that stayed at this lodge and experienced the visit to the local Shaman as well as the musical performance put on by the villagers. This was my first overnight stay although I had previously toured the lodge to determine if I would want to travel here and stay overnight with friends. The accommodations were... More

In October 2015, we stayed 2 nights at the Lanjia Lodge which was, as promised, a truly memorable and totally enjoyable experience. Nestled near the village, high in the mountains, the house we were in, (there was no-one else there at the time), was split level: thatched roof, walls woven flax, bamboo furniture. Meals were served on the wide deck... More

We stayed here in late May for our wedding anniversary celebration. It was low season and we were the only guests at the lodge which made our stay incredibly unique. We were recommended to stay here by a good friend who'd visited previously and our experience surpassed our expectations. From start to finish every detail was met and delivered upon.... More

This is an authentic community based lodge situated farthest away from the busy tourist circuit of Thailand. It is an unique introduction to Northern Thailand's intricate hill tribe culture. The cabins are rustic, eco-friendly, hand-built, traditional and well decorated. The staff of the lodge are the locals from the Hmong/Lahu tribe. They are very polite and attentive. The view from... Lanjai Lodge was a true highlight of our trip. Besides the magnificent views, terrific food and the people, it is great to literally be in a village and see how the people live their day to day lives. Great addition to our trip. The fact that there was no wifi, forced our family to spend more time together. We read,... More

We stayed here for two nights and it was a wonderful way to recuperate after our journey. We had our lodge to ourselves and it was peaceful and restful. The staff are from the local villages and couldn't do enough for us. The food was tasty and plentiful. The room was comfortable. The best thing had to be the large... More

If you are looking to see more of Thailands unique culture rather than lying by the pool in a resort, then this is the place to go. Lanjia Lodge is a community based project that was set up to assist the local Hmong and Lahu hill tribes people to gain skills and knowledge to help them to sustain their local... More

Talk about something different. Lanjia Lodge to me, was a place to re-group and re-gain perspective as opposed to getting confused with all the distractions in our daily lives. The view is gorgeous, the air is clean, the staff members: authentic and hospitable, and the food is amazing. Run by members of the Hmong tribe, the trekking around the tribe... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Lanjia, or 'peaceful' in Hmong language, is an eco-friendly community-based lodge nestled high on a hill in Chiang Rai Province, northern Thailand. Offering dramatic vistas of the Mekong Valley and Laos, it is in complete harmony with the lush green environment as well as the Hmong and Lahu villages in which it is located. Your hosts at the Lanjia Lodge are the proud Hmong and Lahu villagers who take care of all visitors and all activities at the lodge during your stay. All visitors are taken on personal tours of the villages where they can freely intermingle and even meet the local shamans. Contributions from your stay will be used on community projects that will improve the local hill tribe people's living conditions. A variety of packages is available, all of which have been created to give you an insight into the culture of the Hmong and Lahu people. Choose from trekking tours, a boat ride on the mighty Mekong River or a visit to the nearby Golden Triangle. The lodge is only 30 minute drive to the Thailand-Laos border and immigration check-point where many tourists board an overnight boat to the world heritage site of Luang Prabang, Laos. There is no public transportation between Lanjia Lodge and the border. We can arrange a car or a van for guests who stay at the lodge and continue their trip to Luang Prabang. Our prices include accommodation in comfortable king-size or twin bedded rooms with en-suite bathrooms (where applicable), electric fans (non air-conditioned), meals and drinks as specified in the programs, as well as English speaking tour/activity guides. ... more   less
