This trip was booked for Christmas 2020 but we had to defer for one year. The hotel reception staff were fantastic in all communication, helping to sort out the necessary paperwork, making the whole experience easy. Check in was efficient and the quarantine rule explained. My husband's app went green quickly but I didn't. Reception chased it and took the time to come to the room to let me know I was free! We had booked a beach front villa and yes, they are older than the main hotel but they are clean, comfortable and literally on the small beach. The room was kept spotless during our stay. Breakfast was plentiful with a mix of Thai and European dishes. The eggs were too 'snotty' for me but it was no problem to have them cooked how I like them. On our first night we ordered from the restaurant and the food was excellent! The restaurant staff ran backward and forward to our villa with drinks too. They stepped away so they were covid safe. I loved the small pool, it was never busy although it does need some maintenance work doing, but the water was clean. The main pool is also kept very clean. Location-wise, the hotel is close to several restaurants, the night market and mini-markets and is just a short tuk-tuk ride from the centre of Khao Lak. Overall, we had a great holiday and this is down to all the staff who are really helpful

Arrived based on guest reviews on here plus the lovely photos of the idylic beachside villas................... Actual: 1. Building work at the restaurant - noise from 07.30am til 5.00pm. Staff at front desk told us to move to pool access room but the noise still could be heard. 2. Staff not in uniform and very lazy at offering any kind of service EXCEPT for restaurant staff who made an effort. 3. Reception staff unhelpful and had to go into their office two times for them even to come out to see guests. They were sitting in the air con room. 4. had to go into the kitchen to get attention of staff when wanted the bill and saw the plastic partition between the kitchen and construction! Dirty kitchen !!! How do EU tour operators pass this hotel? 5. Hotel had SHA Thai government certificate but NO rules were followed 6. Water was cut off one morning for the construction!! 7. CHECK with the hotel before you book here to make sure that the construction has finished. 8. Out of date beer served but staff did refund which was nice to see. Feel sorry for the staff here (restaurant) who worked hard as they had such limited opening times (breakfast two hours, lunch just one hour and dinner two hours)... came late and told sorry to late!!!.... This resorts seriouslly needs some TLC to make it beautiful and functional... All pools, pool surroundings etc, gardens all need attention!!!! CHECK beofre you book here !!!

Stayed for 12 nights and I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. We stayed in a beach front bungalow and loved it. The room was big and although the bathroom was dated it was spotlessly clean and worked well. The staff were very friendly, with nothing too much trouble. The breakfast is buffet style and appeared to have something for everyone. We ate in the on site restaurant several times and the food was reasonably priced, tasty, hot and freshly prepared. We loved the position of the hotel and our expectations were surpassed. A rare gem!

Stayed in January for two weeks. Stayed in a bungalow in the very nice, shady and wooded garden between the two crossing roads. Enjoyed very nice time in the shade on the "patio". The trafic on the road was not disturbing in the second row from the street. Bathroom and the small "kitchen" worked well. The room had a bed, a table and one chair and a television (not used). Wi-fi worked well - but with varying speed depending on the time of day. Cooling and hot water for the shower worked well. The cooling was quiet in our bungalow. Used a small pool, that was nice and children fiendly with a seperate low part. The beach was nice when we visited. Accessible via a run of steps from an area with beach chairs on a concrete wall and next to the restaurant. If it is windy and high tide the small beach might not be too well suited for small children. The beach a few hundred metres north is very varied and nice with beach chairs and further north beach only. You can walk or run the beach north, but need to cross a couple of small rivers. Only at low tide you can walk the beach south. Walking north or going there by bike or a taxi you can find spots allmost for your self. Breafast was nice with many choises for the "standard tourist" (mostly scandinavians). They served a very nice skyr like yoghurt, müesli, cereals, milk, freshly prepared omelet, fruits and "the usual" including raw salad and vegtables. Decent cofea (french breakfast style ;-)). We had a thai dish there once - I recomend you the short walk 150 metres north :-) Staff was friendly and welcomming. We cannot evaluate the flats at the reception, but a few of them had direct access to the pool there - which might be quite the thing if you stay here with children.

We did stay for 10 days in Ayara villas. The rooms are good and clean. Clean towels everyday and no complains. The cleaner did came a bit early (09.30) everyday. The pool is perfect, you can enter the pool from your room and there are multiple pools for all the rooms so it won’t be busy. There are renovations, starting 9 am and ending 5pm everyday. So it isn’t quiet anymore. This is one of the disadvantages of this hotel. Another disadvantage is that the breakfast is missing a few things because of low season they said. You can get muesli, but there was no milk or yoghurt because of low season. The only choice we had was white bread, an egg or a pancake. There was only jam as spread. Also the bar and the spa are closed because of low season. So if you want to drink / eat something you have to go to the main road which is approx 15 minutes walking. The local market is 25 minutes walking. I cannot recommend to go here if you are going in low season because a lot of things are closed or not available.

Many of the reviews were negative about the small beach and lack of facilities, yet I found the opposite. I had a great welcome, the room was serviced every day, fresh towels for beach and showers. Three pools, a great restaurant overlooking the sea, helpful staff and a few outside restaurants nearby. A gymnasium, bikes to hire. I walked to town twice a day, it took about 20 minutes. It cannot change it geographical location but what it has to learn what other hotels do which are out of town and do not have a beach is to supply a free shuttle twice a day, this deals with the issue. They do supply a chargeable shuttle one way with you making your own way back. In high season they have complementary coffee and cake from 3.30 this stops in low season which was three days before I left. This is a unique selling point for the hotel if they maintained it throughout the season. They also struggle with getting breakfast started at the advertised time, I think it may be a management issue as there seems plenty of staff. I would give it try, I was not disappointed. If you are looking for a central location and a large beach, look elsewhere.

I stayed at Ayara villas for eight nights in march. Everything was smooth from the start. The check-in was pleasent, the room as nice as in the pictures and so on. The whole hotel area is quite nice. I especially liked the tropical forest villas area, which I walked thru, whenever I went to the restaurant/beach. The area in general has many hotels, but it is rather distant from a bigger town. The main market at the main road is almost 2 km away, however the street leading there can be walked or take other methods of transport, which are easy to catch. Actually many restaurants and so on are directed towards the hotel area, so you don't have to go all the way. The hotel had many types of travellers, mostly nordic: older people, families, younger couples and singles. No disturbances, it seemed like people tuned in right from the start. The room was spacious, clean, no disturbances during the night, nice view to the pool area and it was cleaned every day. In essence I liked it a lot. The pools were good. The one with the salt water was a bit more sunnier and it had children's playing area near. Regular pool was more to my liking, as it was more shaded. Breakfast was part of the deal. It is european styled, the same every morning, but I liked it. The restaurant is at the beach facing the sunset. The beach is nicer to the north than to the south. The only trouble is the hightide. It can block the closest fording over a shallow river. If you can pass it, then you have an access to 10km sandy beach. Transport to/from the hotel is simple, just reserve a taxi from the airport or many shops in Bang Niang. It cost 1200 bht for me. The hotel can do the reservation also, but for a higher price. This hotel gets high marks on my book.

We stayed in Aymara villas for eight days as the beach part of our three week trip to Thailand. The welcome on arrival from friendly staff makes you feel you have come home. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they arranged a couple of trips for us. Thank you ladies. The room we chose was a swim up room and it was lovely to get up in the morning and have a swim before breakfast or just jump in in the afternoon when it was hot. The patio has two sun beds and a fan for when it gets to hot. The restaurant has lovely efficient staff. There was plenty of choice at breakfast. Lunch and dinner menu also had a varied choice. Beach was small and water came right in on high tide which cut it off. Low tide and you could walk to beaches at either side past other hotels. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday this is the place to go. We left a couple of things in room and they did theirbes5 to get them back to us.
