Returned last week from 2 amazing weeks at the La Flora resort. From the time we arrived in the resort, to the time we left, we were looked after like kings. The resort is on the beach, and few minutes walk from the centre of Khao Lak, but you would never know you were that close to all the many shops, cafes, restaurants etc, it was so quiet. We were 2 couples in our 60's, and had booked to go in a Flora room, but were upgraded to a Deluxe Poolside room on the 2nd floor, which was a wonderful surprise. Our rooms overlooked the gorgeous river style swimming pool, with palm trees, bridges surrounding it, along with our own swim up poolside bar. the Regina Bar, where the amazing Ron, made the most wonderful cocktails, smoothies etc, always with a lovely smile. The only slight downside to this pool area, was there weren't any parasols for the sunbeds, which meant for part of the day, it was too hot to sit out there. We requested some from reception, but were told they were in short supply, and they never arrived. Our rooms were lovely, very big, with sliding doors that you could open or close to the bathroom/toilet, separate large walk in shower, lovely toiletries, bath robes & slippers, umbrella, beach bag all provided. Plenty of drawers & hanging space, though not many coat hangers provided. There were tea & coffee making facilities, a fridge, with 2 bottles of water provided each day. The main pool was lovely, with plenty of the sun loungers, which were quite close together, so if you wanted one on the end to be able to spread out, or up on the terraced area, you had to be up at silly o clock to grab one. There were notices all around that if the sun beds were unused for more than an hour, the towels and belongings would be removed, but this never happened while we were there. There's a lovely swim up bar here too, the Cave Club, with great staff, and a small area to sit on chairs by the bar, with your feet in the water. Plenty of large pool towels always available around the area too. The main Breeze bar & Sire restaurant are in an idyllic location. You can sit at the table or sofas, with your feet in the sand, watching and listening to the waves gentle lapping on the shore. The staff here are amazing, nothing is too much trouble for them, and the choice of cocktails is wonderful. We chose to go All Inclusive, and despite the fact that is very cheap to eat out, after talking to several guests who were B&B, we considered we had got the best deal. Each night there was a different theme for the food. Meat Feast, Japanese, Thai, Sea Food , Fish, Buffett etc, and we did not have one bad meal. We ate out in the town on 4 occasions, The Green Pepper, The Siam & The Malee which were all great, the most we paid for 4 people to have shared starters, mains and 2/3 drinks each was £60 inc tip! The staff are what really help to make this resort so great, they are so friendly, helpful, and go out of their way to ensure you have the best holiday possible. We have done AI resorts all over the world, and this resort is one of the best we have been to, and we would have no hesitation in returning here, or recommending it to anyone. …
