Hotel was ok, nice and quiet. The staff are very lovely. The hotel is a little worn but besides that had a good experience. We did all inclusive and this was well worth it. The staff makes sure you are looked after. The pools are nice and warm and the beach access is brilliant l

We have nothing but positives to provide from our trip to Mai Resort Khao Lak. We commend the resort for keeping whatever they can going at such a difficult and quiet time and we wish them all the best for the coming peak season and hope they can get back to pre Covid levels. Despite previous negative comments, we had plenty to keep us occupied and were fully aware that given the time of year and the current global environment, that the place would not be thriving. Didn’t bother us one bit. We enjoyed access to the 3 huge pools that were available to us and all the staff looked after us so well. Given there are probably 3 staff to every guest, it was much appreciated how well we were looked after at what must be a financially difficult time. We travelled on a Luxury Escapes deal and as always, it exceeded our expectations. We were lucky with the weather for the time of year and enjoyed beautiful beach days and hospitality at nearby Sun and Bao restaurants. Of course there are small rooms for improvement but we can see there are huge efforts being made to maintain and update the property and keep as much of the outlets open even when the staying guests are few. This was our second trip to Khao Lak and it is sad to see so many local businesses shut and empty so again we can only keep our fingers crossed that the crowds will return en masse as high season approaches. Thanks Mai Khao Lak for a memorable holiday and we hope to return to the area again soon.

We had the best 11 nights holiday here. The resort is slightly tired in places but I guess recovering from the pandemic. They are a few areas that need improving but they are actively trying to do this. It’s low season so much of the resort is shut but as a family that didn’t bother us as there was enough open to occupy us and for us to enjoy ourselves. The day trips out are excellent and good value. There is a shuttle bus to Khao Lak to the markets. The staff are amazingly friendly and cannot do enough for you. The reason I give a poor review is I felt our holiday was tainted by the last day. We were on the all inclusive package and previous to the last day asked what time was check out, advised 2pm. Therefore had lunch at 1pm, we were then told we had to pay for it. Following a dispute about this, we were told that the check out time was actually 11 but they were doing us a favour letting us check out later. Whilst I appreciate this gesture, it was never communicated to us the official check out time (neither written anywhere). Had we known this we would have gone to the beach bar down the road for a change. I did not appreciate the manager treating us the way he did (when we were the least complaining guests in the resort) or threatening to report us to TUI. It was an unfortunate end to a wonderful holiday

Positives - Good friendly staff, quick to respond to issues. - Rooms are spacious - Rooms are clean - Two local restaurants (Mr Bao and Crua Thai) both good - Good value local massages outside hotel Negatives - Pictures online are totally deceiving as most of the hotel/resort os closed and there are very very few people staying - The hotel was 90% shut with only three restaurants, no kids club, water slide open twice during our stay, no entertainment, main swim up pool empty of water and swim up pool bar bar closed with beachside pool bar only open part time - Very isolated location, 15min drive to nearest local small town - Despite friendly staff, I was disappointed that they weren’t more proactive in opening up more facilities or maintaining the property - Widespread issues with hot water at the property which required us to move rooms - Hotel needs significant upkeep in communal areas with decking rotting in some areas - Hotel manager lied to booking.com regarding issue resolution!

Staff is friendly, but doesn’t understand English. The wifi was horrible, sometimes the water is low. There are many swimmingpools, they look nice on the pictures, but in the low season its nothing worth. The only good thing is thing is that we had a free upgrade and the buggy who brings u everywhere. The wifi of me Bao restaurant, 400 meter further is much better, the food and view also.

Staff and service were excellent, going out of their way to be helpful. Pool access suite was amazing with pre breakfast swims being the order of each day. Lovely strolls along the beach and the hotel bus into the local town filled out our days nicely, with plentiful cocktails and food.

The resort was very luxurious and we had a wonderful time. We had a pool deck room which was AMAZING, meaning the turquoise extensive pool was right on our doorstep. The room was big and serviced every day, and the bed was huge and comfotable. We had two rooms and our teenage children were placed next door which was perfect. The staff were always friendly, helpful and smiling and the all you can eat breakfast was sensational. We had plenty of drinks in the all inclusive incling cocktails and mocktails. Due to the low (rainy) season, some restaurants and bars were closed but it didn't matter, there was plenty to keep us occupied and we felt properly relaxed.

Our Family had a really enjoyable stay at Mai Khao Lak. The resort and ammenities are great. Very clean and the staff are VERY friendly like all Thai people. They are building back up out of a very difficult COVID period and we were very happy to see more and more people checking in each day. Lots of fun to be had even in the wet season we still had some good weather days. We had a swim out room and a villa during our stay and they were pure luxury.

We had 7 fantastic nights here, the second time we have been to Mai Khao Lak. Quiet and PERFECT for a restful family escape. Staff were nothing short of AMAZING and made our stay so relaxing. The food was really good, 3 restaurants in the resort open, rotating 2 each night. Great Thai food, tasty western food for kids. Buffet breakfast was incredible. Pools are exceptional. We have no negative feedback, nothing to improve ! We were conscious that some other travellers were dissatisfied with the quiet surroundings, yet this was both understandable post covid and paradise for us! We met some lovely fellow guests, yet really enjoyed the quiet time as we got to spend special family time together and often had pools to ourself ! Where else do you get that!? If anyone doesn’t rate this hotel and experience as 10/10, I don’t know what else could be better!!! If you are craving excess people and bustle, head to Patong, if you are after some genuine family time in paradise with beautiful helpful staff and incredible pools and food- Mai Khao Lak is the place to be. We have been there twice now and will definitely be keen to come again. Special thanks to Oi, Shoon, Golf, Gong, Nam, house keeping and reception staff (sorry - I’m sure the spelling of names is wrong !!) chefs were incredible.

Spent 7 days with family and close friends at this beautiful, family friendly resort. Thailand is still feeling the impact of COVID disrupted years, with both the resort and the local Khao Lak area feeling very quiet. At Mai Khao Lak, the staff were very attentive and were committed to making our stay one to remember. We received a generous room upgrade on arrival (to a Mai Garden Villa) which was spacious and luxurious for our family of 3. The deck featured a seating area and an outdoor plunge bath and we were in easy walking distance of the beach, restaurants, spa and fitness centre and various pools. Despite only three restaurants being open during our stay, there were always great value for money dining options, from traditional Thai to Western and the Sky Bar, 6 stories up, was perfect for cocktails at sunset. As we travelled on a 'Luxury Escape', the value for money was exceptional with some massages, beverages and meal vouchers included. A complimentary shuttle into town allowed us to enjoy the markets, restaurants and shopping of downtown Khao Lak and the stunning beachfront location was perfect for beach massages and dining at local restaurants with feet in the sand. Even though the kids club was closed during the period of our stay, the resort team kindly organised for our children to be minded so we could visit the markets. Mai Khao Lak provides guests with a stunning setting and a huge range of dining and leisure options. We are already planning our next visit!
