Detailed Reviews
We crossed the new year into 2024 at Mount Meru Hotel with my family and overall had a good stay. The rooms were spacious with all the necessary amenities were provided, the main issue was that the cleaning was sub-standard. On two occasions we had to re-call housekeeping to come back and clean the room because there was dust in the corners and under the bed. They also need to provide different sizes of towels, not just the large ones.
The breakfast buffet was really good, but the general restaurant menu and options are average for the high prices charged.
The swimming pool was a hit with our child.
We tried out the spa and it was honestly over-priced especially given that the spa is quite old and needs upgrading.
The fireworks show at midnight ringing in the was the highlight of our stay, it was simply spectacular.

Very nice and comfortable hotel with large rooms and a very nice garden with pool. Breakfast is extensive, you can also sit outside on the terrace. Staff at reception are friendly and helpful. In the immediate vicinity there are also nice, local restaurants if you don't want to eat in the hotel. The city center is about 10-15 minutes on foot, at least during the day you can do well

I stayed about five days at the Mount Meru hotel and I really appreciated the atmosphere that reigned there.. the professionalism of the staff who were at our entire disposal and guided us wonderfully. I was especially amazed by the very courtesy of the room cleaners who were very attentive to us and ensured the ownership of our premises with great professionalism. I hope you will one day meet Linda...one of the women who takes care of the maintenance of the rooms, she puts so much professionalism into it that we thought she lived only for the hotel and the satisfaction of the customers. A big hat to her while hoping to have her climb the ladder in her work to share more of her experience with others. I highly recommend the host Mount Meru

This hotel is off the main highway, with lots of noise and traffic, with a very active club across the street. The "king" bed is really a full/queen-sized bed and hard as a rock. We had to ask for face cloths, and after being asked to "double check" the very small bathroom, we received the requested face and hand towels. Luckily we only had to stay over night for an early morning flight. We barely went to sleep, but after a long drive from the Serengeti, we just wanted to shower and get out of there at 4am to get on our flight to Zanzibar. We've stayed in 5-star hotels throughout 11 countries in Africa...and this is NOT one of them. 3 stars at the most.

Mt. Meru Hotel was an establishment in Arusha, but it is now getting old and outdated. Room, although refurbished, is small by today's standard, quality of service is not high, especially compared with another top hotel in Arusha. Restaurants need improvement on the variety and quality of foods offered as well as efficiency of services. Wifi is extremely slow or simply unavailable when you need it, and keep dropping every few minutes. Its shops are also small and old. Concierge is not proactive nor very helpful. It is sad and disappointing, and suboptimal, especially for business stay.

May work for one night but we had many frustrations during our 3 night stay.
A lot to write about but I will keep it to the essential
On the positive side, friendly staff, hotel well located, rooms are clean.
Areas of improvement
1 - If wifi is important, simply go somewhere else. It is not workable.
2 - Noisy air conditioner
3 - Key for the room need to be reactivated all the time, sometimes 2-3 times per day
4 - argument on my bills, which was prepaid by agency, they told me it wasn’t paid.
6 - bathroom sink clogged
5 - not enough chairs around the pool. Main reason we choose the hotel
6 - every night around 8h00 the power goes off in the hotel for like 2 seconds, very unusual.
Food was okay, I am not sure I understand people here that go beyond that
Overall it is worn out, the building, the rugs on the room floors, the chairs
We don’t recommend this hotel
Management: please don’t even respond you will address the key activation and WiFi issues , something you are well aware of based of previous reviews.

Cons:
- check in to check out, the entire process is very slow. They have two terminals and plenty staff but it seems like one person does everything while the rest hang around. Getting checked in and then waiting for my statement at check out was a very long arduous process. Give it 15-20 mins atleast for a process that should take 5 mins.
- could not get hold of the spa nor room service. I had to call reception to connect me to room service and only then would they pick up the phone. Food took almost an hour to get to the room and yet again I had to go via reception to contact them at all.
- Hotel and rooms outdated.
Would not return.

Dear Cosmopolitan614427 It was truly disheartening to read your review regarding your stay with us at Mount Meru Hotel. However I still thank you for taking the time to express your genuine dissatisfaction which went a great way in helping us iron out the wrinkles in our service. Please be assured that this is not an indicative of the high standards we aspire to offer, and as such, the associates concerned have been informed and measures have and will be taken to ensure that such situations do not recur in the future and we improve on the services we offer. We are so sorry that you felt the service was not up to par with the surroundings. We will be using your review as an example in upcoming staff training programs so that our employees can better understand how their actions can impact the Guest experience. I sincerely hope you will be able to give us one more chance to impress you and give you that memorable stay that was sadly lacking the first time round. Warm Regards, Kasun DESILVA, Rooms Division Manager

Nice hotel, beautiful grounds, excellent restaurant and breakfast. The rooms were large, clean and well appointed, the bed was very comfortable. Most of the power outlets were incased in a frame, which impeded easy use of a step down converter. I did not see any USB outlets in my room. Staff was friendly. I do not give this hotel 4 or 5 stars due to their laundry service. The laundry form indicates that early morning requests will be returned the same day. However, despite informing a floor staff person that I was leaving an item for laundry, the item was not returned that evening nor the next morning.
I never saw it again. It vanished. No apology received.

I stayed in this hotel the night before and the night after climbing Kili with Climbing Kilimanjaro (a great guide company).
The first room I stayed in on the 4th floor was good. The air conditioning was a bit finicky and the shower wasn't very well designed (only separated from the bathroom by a single wall). Using the shower leaves the entire bathroom floor wet.)
The breakfast buffet was great though, with all sorts of good food to fuel us on our way up Kili.
After a successful climb up Kili for everyone in the group we were back at the hotel and I ended up in a room on the 5th floor. In this room the toilet flushing lever was broken. The tub-shower combo was even more poorly designed and taking a shower yet again flooded the bathroom with water. Thankfully they had at least 4 towels so I could pile them up so my feed didn't get wet every time I went in the bathroom.
Our group went down for dinner that night and the service we incredibly slow. It took them 30 minutes to fulfill our drink order and another hour to get our dinner. The waitress also didn't understand English and got quite a few things wrong. I certainly don't expect everyone in other countries to speak English, but I do expect a hotel of this size and quality to have servers that can operate accurately in English.
The bed was plenty comfortable in both rooms.
In the end, while I would expect more out of a hotel like this, it was good overall.

Dear Nelsa 2015 Thank you for your recent review. We would like to apologies for the inconvenience caused to you in both rooms. This is a design issue and we are embarking on a refurbishment exercise in the first quarter of this year and will have this rectified. The refurbishment exercise will not impact on the operations of the hotel. With regards to slow service during dinner, this has been bought to the attention of our Food and Beverage Team and will be dealt with accordingly. Thank you for the wonderful comments on our Breakfast buffet and I will certainly pass on your sentiments to our Head Chef. We do appreciate constructive criticism to assist us in improving our services to our esteemed guests. Warm Regards Jonathan Cox General Manager

Well, we often go for holidays and during this time we stay in hotels. Usually we book budget hotels but here I would like to share my experience of staying at the MT. Meru hotel in Arusha which is a Five Stars property Holiday hotel in Arusha Tanzania. Actually, during last DEC holidays we went to A1 hotel and resort Arusha.
It is a massive hotel with hundreds of rooms and we got really impressed by the interiors. Beside comfortable rooms, this hotel had many facilities for the guests for example swimming pool where we had a lot of fun together as a family but the gym was too small and the internet too slow.
However The best part of the stay in this hotel was the food the restaurant where we tried few international foods. The food was finger licking delicious and we ate to the fullest. I feel lucky it been a first time stay. Thanks for the hospitality.

Yes.

We were on a business trip here last time so we were taken to the hotel by a private van. Not really sure if was including in the hotel charge as it was company paid. The next day, we met the same driver named Henry and negotiated to give us a tour of the area. We closed the deal for about $50. He speaks good english and took us to this nice resto that serves bbq at really, really cheap price. â€+255 757 024 493‬
