We stayed at Olerai before and after our safari. Location is a good starting point, however, in rainy season the roads are absolutely terrible to get in and out without getting stuck. The setting is nice with a few animals like the dik-dik, monkeys, and birds. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The units are spacious and nice. Both times we had minimal amount of water. Couldn't take a shower either time and last time we didn't even have enough water to wash our faces. Staff brought bottled water to wash and buckets of water to flush the toilet. This made it for a not good ending. I would not recommend this place unless they do some major upgrades to improve.
We stayed in the stunning Olerai Lodge in December 2019, before and after our safari. Upon arrival we were greeted by the lovely staff and offered a refreshing fruit juice. They helped carry our luggage to our beautiful room and gave us a quick tour of the grounds. The place is perfection. Beautifully surrounded by nature, with views of Mount Meru, it can hardly get better. The moment we set foot in our room we were overwhelmed by the luxury feel. The large bed was so inviting to just lay there all day and relax, and the bathroom! Oh my! The bathroom was probably the most beautiful we have ever seen. With a double shower, and a bathtub, stunning details and the combination with wooden elements, it was almost too beautiful to use, we just wanted to look at it and admire it. The room was very spacious, with its own sitting area. We had our own private porch outside our room, and little dik-diks (tiny antelopes) came super close in the mornings and evenings, a true feeling of connection with nature. And we haven’t even mentioned the food yet! The breakfast was so delicious, abundant, with tons of fruit presented in a beautiful way, pancakes, scrambled eggs on toast, coffee, juice, oh, so yummy! On our first night we also ate dinner here and it was absolutely delicious! Kash and her colleagues were so sweet and wonderful organizing everything for us and we cannot recommend their place enough. It was one of the most beautiful lodgings of our entire 3 week’s trip in Tanzania. 100% recommended, and so many thanks to everyone.…
I loved this brand new lodge (recently opened) for the way it fits naturally into the landscape. Also, I had just come off of a 30-hour flight (with layovers) and quite honestly, I needed a place to rest my head BEFORE going on safari. This place is gorgeous, the rooms are well-thought-out and they have everything you need to make your stay perfect. I love that it is close enough to the Kilimanjaro (JRO) airport and yet far enough away to feel like you are out in the African mist!
I stayed at Olerai Lodge at the beginning and end of my safari and it was perfect. Here’s why: 1. It's only about 15-20 minutes from Arusha airport, which makes it convenient to both the city center and to flights coming and going. 2. It has modern amenities, like wifi! 3. The rooms are modern, clean and well-equipped. This is a newer lodge and the rooms are pretty! 4. They food is yummy! I had the most delicious caprese salad with balsamic reduction! 5. The staff is super friendly and attentive.
We stayed at Olerai Lodge a day before and a day after our Safari with Shadows Of Africa, and it was the perfect place to start and finish. Cash and the team were great, even though we arrived late at night, the food was incredible and the guys just genuinely couldn't have been more happy to help. :)
