I had a wonderful time here. The staff is amazing. As a solo traveler I felt like part of a family when I stayed here. The hostess Veronica who has the biggest and most lovely smiles made the best food for every guests and made sure all our needs are met. The complimentary eco banana farm tour with the Masai guide was very special too. He took us around the property, down to the hill and cross a river. He also showed us Masai traditional herbal medicine, which was an interesting learning experience. My only dislike is that sometimes the water or electricity goes out for few hours. But they always come back, just have to wait a little bit. They have hot showers with pressurized wafer which is a luxury, considering most places do not have that! The beds are comfortable too. I do not have any issues falling asleep at all. Overall, had a wonderful time here. Highly recommend for budget travelers. …
This is just an amazing place to stay! Banana's all around, lovely people gathering near the fire in the evening and Godwin and Veronika taking care of you :-) This place is worth to visit and stay a while :-)
Stayed 3 nights at Banana eco farm and enjoyed my stay thoroughly. The hosts, Godwin & Veronica were lovely, Veronica makes lovely meals also. The room is pleasant and comfortable . it feels like home being there.. there is also a farm tour when one can learn re the biogas system.. and as much bananas as one can eat!
I stayed in Banana Farm the day before my Safari and another three nights afterwards. The rooms are clean and nice, the outdoor common area is very charming and relaxing. Veronica and the rest is always around if you need anything or just to give you fresh fruits in the afternoon. I had as well dinner in the hostel, which was always fresh cooked with vegetables and fruits from the farm! To sit around the fire in the evening , chatting with other travelers was always very nice. A perfect start for my Tanzania travelling!!
I was headed to Tanzania to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and my hiking company offered a safari option but at the end of the safari they would take me to Arusha (I had been only in Moshi). So I looked at places to stay in Arusha and found great reviews for the Eco Hostel Banana Farm - What an experience!!!! I did not know quite what to expect - to be honest the area seemed slightly questionable to my western comfort but once we arrived I realized how amazing this place was! I was greeted by Veronica (manager) and Augustine who gave me and the other guest a personal tour of the facility. He showed and explained everything from the cows (creating methane gas for the kitchen), the fruits around the property (guava, lime, avocado, banana, coffee, etc.) and we hiked a little outside of the property which had a beautiful view of Mt. Meru, a waterfall, and lush vegetation. That evening Veronica offered supper (for $5usd) which was similar to a Chagga meal I had earlier the week before - it was tasty and I was thankful for the warmth and hospitality she showed me. The WIFI worked outside very well (not so much in my room - but that was okay). There were plenty of free bananas on sight and there was a common area, fire pit, seating, benches, hammocks, etc. I felt safe, comfortable, and happy. The bathrooms were extremely clean and the bed was a little firm but just fine. Breakfast was included in the cost (I had toast, honey, jam, coffee, juice, and a pancake). Total cost (w/ bath) was $13 a night so this place was extremely affordable and amazing for the cost. I gave Veronica a $20 and asked her to give $2 to the tour guide from the day prior. Everything went great - They even had a driver option to take me to the airport if needed (I had a friend coming to get me) but their services were fantastic. Zero issues. Communication was great via email/whatsapp too with Godwin the owner.…
