I stayed there for two weeks while visiting my wife in April 2022 ( she was co-leading a study abroad trip for her University and had been there a whole month before me). It was a awesome place to visit. The staff there was top notch. I didn't have a single bad experience at Kundayo. They made sure that we were as comfortable as possible and treated us well. There are no fans in the rooms or air conditioning, but the cool breezes during the day made it worthwhile. BUT, if you do want a portable fan they do have those and can provide you with one. The food in the restaurant was great as well, but you do have a kitchen to cook your own food. The wifi wasn't working at the time, but you can create your own hotspot( they just opened up back in late February 2022 after Covid shut them down). When you asked to have your clothes they did it right then and there and returned it to you before the end of the day or even sooner. I can't express how much I enjoyed staying there and the views around the place were good as well. I HIGHLY recommend it.

P.S. I hear there may be a swimming pool in the future and ceiling fans in the rooms, but that's just what I heard and is not guaranteed. Just what the owner is hoping to do.

A place to feel good! An oasis with people outside.
We were there a week in early 2025 with family - adult daughter with husband and children (young people). An optimal quiet accommodation with lush palm trees and trees. The owner Mazu and staff took care of us in the best way. Good food and service. Simple but functional rooms, clean and tidy. Can't wait to get back!

A surprise discovery for one night that was extended to three nights stay. The outdoor signage caught my attention and luckily there was one room available for New Year's Eve. Loved the warm hospitality from all staff including the owners whom I was able to interact with.

I did not need fireworks, as I sat by the fireplace to usher in the new year.

Very well situated to get to many points of interest in Arusha. Safe and secure in a tranquil setting. Will definitely be back again soon.

We stayed at Kundayo for 5 nights with two children before leaving for safari. The staff could not be more welcoming and accommodating. We felt completely at home at Kundayo. The chef is fantastic and the food in the restaurant was excellent. I highly recommend the chicken curry. The breakfasts were also delicious. The apartments are very spacious. These are affordable accommodations and definitely not luxury, but it was very clean, comfortable and welcoming. I am very grateful to Mozel and Glory for their very warm hospitality.

My wife and I spent the month of February, 2012 in Tanzania with another friend from Canada. Our "home base" was at Kundayo, but we ventured off to Kilimanjaro, Serengeti and even a side trip to Dodoma. During our stay at Kundayo we got to know the owner, Mazo, very well, along with some of the staff (particularly Sebastian who works in the restaurant and Peter who guards the gate during the day). During our ventures to other parts of Tanzania, our excess luggage was stored in a locked room (at no charge). Service in the hotel was excellent, the food in the restaurant was fresh and plentiful, and the staff were always friendly and helpful. Kundayo is a bit off the beaten track in Arusha, but it is only a couple dollars by taxi to the Clock Tower (or you can walk there, during the day, in about 30 minutes). The hotel is gated, with security at night, so we felt secure to sit out and watch the stars until late at night. Although the rooms come with fully furnished kitchens, we chose to eat most meals at the restaurant or with our friends from Arusha. WARNING: Like much of Arusha, Kundayo is prone to power outages, so power may not always be available. This could be a problem if you have perishable items in the refrigerator. NOTE: If you eat at Kundayo for dinner, note that the food is always prepared fresh - dinners are very good, but take a long time to be served. Relax! You're on African time! Order another Kili (or Tusker, or Konyagi and bitter lemon) and watch the stars. The food, when it arrives, will be well worth the wait!

Kundayo has been my home for one month now and I really enjoy living here. The appartment is lovely, all I need is here. Clean linen and towels are provided and the staff is kind and helpful. If I don't feel like cooking, there is a nice restaurant with good food for reasonable prices.
Kundayo is located within walking distance of the town center, and there are always enough daladala's and taxi's in the vicinity to bring you where you want to go.
So, Mazo and all the rest of the crew: thank you for making my home in Arusha a nice place to be!

Spent near 1 week in Kundayo this January. Very nice owner (thanks Mazzo), clean and rather big apartments with well-equipped kitchen, sat TV and really fast wi-fi. Good friendly staff, how really care about you and help with everything. After Zanzibar, where everybody try to deceive you, people in Kundayo are honest and sincere. For $ 45 per night BB - very good location - 20 minutes by walk to the center (Clock tower). Price in restaurant also good: 10 000 ($7) for dinner, 3 000 ($2) for beer. Just in 50 meters several shops (beer 2 000 :)) ). And a few words about Arusha - very good climate as for Africa, hot at the day and comfortable at night. 2 hours by car to Lake Manyara NP, 5 hours to Serengeti. 20 min to KIA ($50 for transfer to Kundayo).

After taking the most grueling, six hour bus ride of my life, I arrived at the Arusha bus terminal (a small parking lot) where I was swarmed by agressive taxi drivers. The bus driver took it upon himself to direct my friend and I back into his bus where he delivered us safely to the Kundayo Serviced Apartments. It was a short, five minute drive away from the bus station and the chaos of Arusha. We turned down a quiet, tree lined street and entered through the security gate where we were met by Anna in a peaceful, laid back, welcoming setting.

My friend and I were starving and although it was right in the middle of lunch and dinner time, the restaurant was available to us. Sebastain was our server, and he had a very sweet mannerism. The food was fresh, the beer was cold and we quickly learned we were now on Arusha time.

Anna was very helpful and assisted us with hiring a taxi driver that would wait for us to get a few items at the grocery store and at the ATM. When we came back to the Kundayo Apartments, we relaxed in the TV room (open for all guests) where Sebastian brought us the most delicious Tanzanian tea (similar to Chai). There is one computer for free wifi in the TV room, but we were not able to get a connection, which we were told was typical. Mazoea checked on us through the evening and tried to assist us with the internet connection.

The apartments are quite standard in decor and ours had a bedroom with two beds, living/sitting room and a small kitchen. We had to have the fan on in the evening as it was warm, and there was no breeze with our room location. We were only there for one night ($45 included breakfast), so it worked well for our needs. We felt extremely safe and all of the workers were very kind.

I just returned from a week at Kundayo, and can highly recommend it.

The accommodations are not super fancy but they are comfortable, terrific and clean.

The staff is friendly and exceptional. This was my second stay at this property, and many were the same from people from my last stay (almost 7 years ago).

Although the rooms have kitchens, I typically ate in the onsite restaurant. The menu is a fairly wide variety, and always good.

The property has decent WiFi.

I look forward to my next visit!
