Friendly hosts. Beach is short few minutes walk away though a bit rocky. Best part is there's a rent-free bike to cycle along the pavement along the beach. Rooms are clean. Slight inconvenience is about ten minutes drive from town so not accessible. But hosts are very accommodating and provide free transport to ferry you to-fro. Never had any problem...

It was our first time staying at a minsu, and Hualien Bay went beyond our expectations. Andy picked us up at Hualien station, and upon reaching the minsu, his wife offered us some snacks and drinks while we were waiting to check in. In the evening, he drove us to a huge night market, and picked up at punctually at...

My 2nd visit to Hualien Bay. Andy & his wife still can remembered us. Their friendliness made me felt that i have back home. ^_^ This time they have an additional animal: a billy (baby goat). Andy actually let my niece to bottle fed the billy. Andy has helped to arrange a private taxi driver to bring us around on...

We must complement the host's hospitality as he went the extra mile to help us and brought us to place where only locals go. The latter was an invaluable experience for us. Andy was responsive in emails and guided us on buying tickets from taipei to hualien. He also offered to fetch us from hualien TRA to the minsu. At...

We love that the beach was just next to the Minsu through a rabbit's hole in the shrubs. The minsu was undergoing renovations then and the owner was away travelling. Maybe service-wise we were not given the opportunity for the full works. The minsu has a little farm area where they had goats and some chickens. Quite entertaining for small...

The Good : 1) Andy is very kind, friendly and helpful. Our kids liked him. 2) Free transfer to Train Station on your arrival and departure. 3) Free transfer to night market during evening time only. (During the day, you have to call for a taxi if you want to go to town). 4) Kids can play fireworks under Andy’s...

Stayed here in December 2012 for a night and what made it memorable was the fact that we could buy fireworks and sky lantern and set it off in the front yard with the owner's help! The fireworks and sky lantern is bought at own expense (we asked our taxi driver to do a mini stopover on the way to...

End of April 2014 our family (2 kids 2 adults) stayed 3 nights. The owners were so helpful to come and pick us up from the train station, bring us to town for dinner, lend us a bike, organize a taxi rental for the next day to Taroko Gore, book our tickets for train to Taipei...... Andy even entertained us...

Spent two nights here in January and thoroughly enjoyed this minsu experience. The owner, Mr. Chen picked us up at the Hualien train station, and the next morning he offered tons of sound advice about what to do around town. We ended up renting a car to visit the magnificent Cingshuei Cliffs and Taroko Gorge. The minsu house is a...

We just stayed a night but could feel the warmth and happiness of the owners of the Minsu. The couple was very friendly and helpful. The Minsu was rather old but was clean and interesting with a little farm full of chicken, ducks, turkeys and there was also a pig. The lady owner drove us to the shopping area of...

“Mr Andy can help to transport to/from the minsu using his private car. But I think transport is not a problem if you seek Andy's advise when booking the room. Most tour companies also provide pickup services direct from minsu. There is a value for money drink till you drop restaurant near his minsu, probably abt 8 minutes drive away. Not sure how to get there on foot.”
