We enjoyed our stay. Claire is very friendly and helpful! She helped us book a day trip, called restaurants to ask if they are open, and even dropped us off at the train station when we left. The room was air conditioned, but not the kitchen/living area.

We were received by Claire, the owner, at the railway station. She is very friendly, helpful and responsive. She also arranged tour for us. She served us healthy breakfast much to our liking. We were given a room at the 3rd Floor which proved to be a challenge for us to bring our luggage up. The room was comfortable with...

Stayed one night en route to Taroko Gorge. Very friendly welcome. We stayed in the Japanese room on the ground floor - glad we planned an early start anyway as this is very close to the breakfast room so we'd have been woken by other guests. The host speaks great English and gave us some top restaurant recommendations. She also...

We stayed for 3 nights in Mistro and were glad we did. Claire the manager was super-helpful. She answered our questions on Taiwan in general, made phone calls on our behalf, arranged a tour for us (and showed us to the bus) and was willing to ensure we had a good stay. Best of all was the emphasis on both...

I travelled in a group of four and booked a quad room at Mistro. Room is huge and spacious. Staff is very friendly and recommended to us a lot of places to do and visit in hualien. We would appreciate the service more if the host could actually open up the common bathroom on the ground floor for all to...

One little thing, the linen had some smell but it didn't stop us from sleeping so soundly. My friend stayed in double room...

The room's decor is modern and pleasant with all the necessary supplies for a comfortable stay. Location is excellent, very convenient for seeing Hualien town, shopping, and...

It's like staying at home, there's a living room, a dining table and a kitchen for your convenience: hot/cold water, fridge, kitchen utensils are all provided. There are even books for you to read. Breakfast is to be pre-ordered from a nearby cafe. Mistro gives each guest TW$50 value of breakfast, anything more than that, you have to top up...

“Try to ask for room at lower floor for elderly travellers.”

“Old folks pls ask for rooms on lower floors. The Japanese-theme room next to the kitchen has an 'outside' bathroom. Other guests might 'share' your toilet when they are downstairs. Other than that, it might be noisy as it's just next to the dining hall where guests have their meal or hang out.”

“If you have large luggage, try asking for rooms on the 2nd level so that you dont have to carry your luggage up the stairs.”

“One of the larger rooms (I think on the second floor?) has a balcony, might be worth requesting! Note there's no elevator, so if stairs are an issue there is one room on the ground floor.”
