Goldi Sands is often celebrated for its enchanting atmosphere and pristine conditions, with guests frequently commending the spaciousness and cleanliness of the rooms, despite some encountering Wi-Fi issues. The hotel's prime beachfront position is a highlight for many, providing breathtaking views and a serene environment.
The staff's courteous and attentive service garners high praise, as do the well-kept amenities like the pool and beach area, although a few areas could use some extra care. While most find the offerings well-priced, a few guests experienced room allocation concerns.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed at Goldi Sands following a 6 day tour of Sri Lanka.
The Hotel has direct beach access and 2 good size pools, one is very very cold, which was fabulous to cool off.
We stayed in the original part of the hotel (the cheap seats) however, do not let this put you off, they were roomy, comfy, clean, hot water, air conditioned, everything you want for a room to change and sleep.
We stayed bed and breakfast, it was a buffet breakfast with Sri Lankan, or European choices.
the food was hot, the coffee was rich, and was very filling, that we rarely had lunch.
We stayed in the hotel 2 evenings to enjoy the buffet dinner, it was not expensive, and lots of choice.
Wine is not cheap, Beer is.
The staff, cleaners, pool guys, reception, are all wonderfully helpful and again make your holiday experience fabulous.
Their are lots of bars, restaurants along the road from the hotel and we went to quite a few and always had a good meal.
However, it was clear things were getting difficult getting food, and fuel, and some of bars and restaurants were starting to close.
We had no problems at Gold Sands
If like us you were charging drinks, snack etc. to your room, I would strongly advise you pay daily, and not leave to the end of your holiday as it can get confusing and you may end up paying for drink, food you did not have, and this is easier for the waiters, because if their is a dispute with the bill and they served you, well, it comes out of their wage, so we made a point of paying our bills daily, so no issues.
Overall we had a wonderful time at Goldi Sands and will definately be returning and would have no problems reccommending this hotel to fellow travellers.

I was at Hotel Goldi Sands for my mandatory quarantine period.
Although I was confined to a room, the hotel’s staff (each and every one of them that I’ve encountered) definitely walked an extra mile to make the guest’s stay as comfortable as possible.
Due to Covid, the hotel was short-staffed, but that didn’t mean there was any compromise in the level of service offered. The staff cared for all of my needs, from extra water bottles, tea bags, milk, special meal requests and even herbal drinks!
Food was offered in the room with desert and there was a very good variety of main meals and deserts, bought to the room on time and in significantly large (too large for me) packets. Meals were mainly carbohydrates (rice, milk rice, bread, roast bread, stringhoppers) with either chicken or tuna. A good selection of vegetables were served too!
I’ve got a Deluxe ground floor room on the new wing with partial sea view. Being on a ground floor room helps create an illusion that you can walk out (but you are not allowed to leave the room). So, if you are going for mandatory quarantine, may be consider asking for a ground floor room.
In terms of ensuring that every need of the guest is met, I must mention the F&B Manager, Mr Adrian De Zilva, who ALWAYS ensured that all of my needs were looked after, called me once or twice every day, offering a chance to discuss and ensure that 100% of my requirements were met during this time of isolation.
The staff member (Fonseka) who bought my food everyday was polite, professional and prompt, tending to every extra need, always with a smile. I am sure it is an extreme challenge for you to be serving while wearing something that looks like a spacesuit!
I wish every staff member all the best and hope they will be able serve regular guests soon. I will be back one day, as a tourist.
Maintenance staff was very helpful in sorting out my broadband,as I worked remotely. The speed was sufficient for Teams meetings and file uploads.
One thing I would avoid is the PCR test from Nawaloka, it was an absolute disaster, kept me awake and had to make many expensive phone calls to all departments within Nawaloka just to get the PCR results after 2 days although it was advertised as being available within 36 hrs.

Arrived late afternoon for the one night before we headed off on a tour of the island, excellent room with a massive balcony and sea view. Room was very clean and comfortable. Only ate in the restaurant for evening meal and then breakfast very reasonable price paid less than £10 for two people with drinks included in that price. Staff very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend this hotel for a beach holiday or short break

From the moment we arrived at 1 am in the morning we were greeted with drinks, cold hand towels and great service which continued for our two nights at this beautiful resort. Rooms were very comfortable and clean, quite spacious but what I loved best was the dining and two pool areas with a view of the ocean. We were very fortunate to be there for New Year's Eve and the whole family attended their Gala evening. The buffet was incredible, music and dancing and a fantastic fireworks display. Highly recommend this Hotel.

I’ve just been treated, to a fabulous and memorable stay here at the Goldi Sands, Negombo. Considering they are hosting as part of an approved quarantine hotel, with a vastly reduced staff strength, they have been nothing short of extraordinary in their efforts, to keep us both safe and happy at the same time.
Their service standards have been up kept to the highest, PR on point, customer service - highly desirable and kept doing the simple things, right.
Front desk staff, room service, kitchen, housekeeping and pretty much everyone did more than their part, in making this a success.
A special note of thanks to Mr. Anthony the Manager in charge and Mr. Randima running affairs under him. Mr. Anthony is a true asset to this place having tendered to every phone call, message and whatever we asked of him. His managerial skills and multi tasking was a highlight throughout my stay here. Well done, there! It is a rare quality to find such people of high self discipline and humility delivering, on all fronts. He surely should be destined to higher places.
Lastly- not forgetting our boys in uniform. The SL Army have been outstanding in every regard. Led by an extremely proficient and fine young gentleman, in Lieutenant Suresh Madusanka, they complied with all procedures correctly, monitored the implementation of the same, kept safety at heart and ensured security throughout the two weeks here. A well deserved effort put in by each and every one of them. The Army medical team has been brilliant too.
I have to say that this experience had “ticked all the boxes” so as to speak. My best wishes and sincerest of thanks to each and every one of you. Bravo!

WOW! We went there for a romantic candlelit dinner on the beach and it was absolutely GORGEOUS! The setup was beautiful with flowers and candles, the food was plenty and unbelievably delicious (seafood) and the desert was so good! Most importantly, our waiter was super nice, caring and on top of everything! It was such a beautiful experience for a very reasonable price! We paid $40 per person for a 5 course meal all of which was mainly seafood from salads to the main dish...etc. Highly highly recommend.

We have stayed at this hotel on our various visits to Sri Lanka and keep coming back because the staff are friendly and efficient serving delicious Buffet meals daily. They have since opened a new wing since my last visit 2 years ago and the new rooms are fantastic. Very spacious, well appointed and clean. In fact the whole hotel is spotless. (We were there for 4 nights)
As we were there to celebrate my wife's 75th Birthday with family & friends they arranged a candlelit dinner for around 15 of us on the lawn. The food was delicious and our waiters were incredible and attentive and served us right through the night.
A safe beach which is patrolled by Security even though the beach is shared by locals who are friendly and welcoming and always with a smile.
Will definitely be staying at this hotel when we next visit.

Located on a private beach this resort is everything you want your getaway to look and feel like. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and tasteful, the food is great with diverse options, and the sunsets over the ocean are soo beautiful.
Highly recommend this hotel if you need a couple nights in Negombo (note that this hotel is not in Colombo, which is about a 40 minute drive with no traffic)

This hotel is excellent ! They really try their best to please the guests. Specially I should mention Mr. Randima, front office executive for his politeness and attending to our requests promptly and all the other hotel staff for following the necessary restrictions from the health authorities and still giving the best service.
We also had a great sea view from our balcony - good when you are quarantined ! All rooms in this hotel has balconies,
Food - yes, food is always subjective. I think they do a great job here, there is a rotation/mix of western/Sri lankan /indian/and always a great dessert for breakfast lunch and dinner !! Enough to please everyone. And there is a room service menu as well if you do not fancy the quarantine food and wifi works very well in this hotel.
We stayed in this hotel from 5th february 2021 to 19th february 2021.
Room number - 304

The Goldie Sands is the perfect place to start or end your holiday in Sri Lanka. The hotel is located along a perfect stretch of the ocean front close to the airport and has wide beaches that are kept perfectly clean and inviting. It was also a lovely trek to the fishing wadiya and was a peaceful walk. The hotel had two lovely swimming pools and the restaurant and seating were all open to the Beach with spectacular views of the Ocean and Sun sets. The staff at the hotel go above and beyond to ensure you feel welcomed and show they care with their warm and friendly hospitality. The rooms have high ceilings, are very spacious and well appointed with modern amenities. The food was excellent and the breakfast buffet had many choices, local and continental with fruit and salad bar. The a-la-carte menu featured SriLankan, Asian Fusion and Western dishes. My favorite was the Fried Pork from the Starter Menu.

yah they provide towels, all inclusive thing need to check with the hotel. normally minibar is there but not sure how it will be when all inclusive rate applied
There was in our "non-deluxe" rooms so I think you can safely say yes
Wine, beer, spirits, and mixers the selection is limited and the service is slow. There is no real bar area just the tables between the bar and the beach usually. Often they have a local band playing but if you smoke you must sit further away
