We stayed here only for one night after arriving from australia. The hotel was lovely. Big rooms, very clear, huge bathrooms, well equipped, lovely staff. We also enjoyed a wonderful Buffett breakfast and tried the delicious Sri Lankan hopper.
We absolutely loved our stay at Jetwing Beach. Every detail was looked after by the friendly, helpful staff. It’s a beautiful spot that’s hard to leave. Thank you for making our first stop in Sri Lanka so perfect.

Humidity in Sri Lanka is about 20% higher than Dubai. That said Sri Lanka highest temperature is about 10 C° cooler. Although precipitation will be a discomfort due to higher humidity, you will enjoy the cooler temperature compared to Dubai in August in Sri Lanka. Given a choice I would certainly pick Sri Lanka to Dubai to spend a holiday with my family.
You may also consider spending a few days of your weeks holiday at Jetwing St. Andrews, Nuwara Eliya, which is a nice cooler hill station that you could get to in about 4 1/2 to 5 hours from Jetwing Beach.
