The Bartizan is a colonial boutique hotel located in the world heritage site of Galle Fort, Sri Lanka. The building was an old Dutch structure which has now been carefully renovated to a modern, stylish hotel while keeping the original architectural elements intact. It is uniquely situated across the street from the fort walls and right in the heart of local shops and restaurants located on Pedlar Street. It has a variety of room sizes from spacious rooms with private balconies and ocean views to intimate courtyard rooms and unique tower rooms. All rooms boast modern furniture and fixtures and luxurious bathrooms with complimentary bath amenities. All guests enjoy a cool welcome drink upon arrival and daily breakfast. Complimentary hi speed fiber optic wifi is available throughout the property and rooms come with complimentary water and daily housekeeping. The property has one of the top-rated locations in Galle where guests can enjoy ocean and fort views right from the hotel.

The hotel is beautifully restored and in a great location. Our room was spacious with excellent amenities. We were the only guests at the hotel and enjoyed using the terrace next to our room, with fabulous sunsets and views of the ocean. We had our breakfast served on our private balcony. Complimentary afternoon tea & mini bar were nice touches too. We booked a room with a balcony as enjoy smoking, but in the guest book we were advised smoking was not allowed on balconies which seemed odd. There were several other potential fines listed in the guest book too, which we felt were a little out of character with typical Sri Lankan hospitality and very American influenced. Views from part of our balcony were amazing but ruined by a large black water tank and concrete wall built by the property in front of the Bartizan.

The highlight of this visit was the genuine Sri Lankan hospitality and personlised welcome and service from the General Manager cascading down to all staff. Our visit was over Christmas for one night and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything matched the enchanting ambience of this luxury B&B hotel from the refreshing welcome drink of king coconut and lime to the thoughtfully prepared breakfast fit for a king. The cobbled terrace lit up with fairy lights, the wonderful sunset view from the rooftop with its quaint architecture of the 'Bartizan' all added to the charm and gave out excellent vibes. Its central location betwéen Rampart and Pedlars street gives easy access to the Galle Fort lighthouse, the ramparts and quaint shops, art galleries, spas and restaurants along Church street. We have already recommended it to all our friends and family back home and hope to visit soon.

From arrival in Colombo airport where the hotel had arranged for a friendly informative taxi to collect us, to a room upgrade , to cooked breakfast on the Victorian style balcony with panoramic sea views , staff could not have been more solicitous. They even arranged a delicious chocolate birthday cake when they heard of the occasion! The building is wonderful, colonial, sensitively renovated with five star en suites and excellent quiet air conditioning. The location is perfect, around the corner from a colonial street full of little restaurants and craft shops, across a very quiet road where Tuc-Tucs awaited to trundle us off to the stunning beaches, and a stairway down from the ramparts led to a tiny sheltered coral beach ideal for a swim before breakfast! We all hope we are lucky enough to make a return visit some day.

We stayed one night at the Bartizan in a tower room. It’s a beautiful historic building which has undergone a cool modernisation. The rooms are quirky and comfortable, and the central courtyard is enchanting. Breakfast was outstanding (we chose the two Sri Lankan options), and was served on our own terrace overlooking the Fort walls and the sea. Staff could not be more friendly or helpful. I would absolutely recommend this place in every way.

We (three girls with a small baby) had a great stay at bartizan galle fort two weeks back.. Mr. Andrew the manager was soo welcoming.. he did everything possible to make ourselves comfortable at our shortstay..our room was ready with additionally requested baby cot at the time that we arrived.. and we enjoyed the soothing chilled welcome drinks served at the lobby after the long ride from colombo.. It's a small boutique hotel right in front of the galle fort with super stunning sunset views.. right from our room balcony. We stayed at the suit .. which was soo spacious and the baby had plenty of room to play around inside the room.. The rooms were extremely clean . so as the bathrooms+ super comfy bed They served complementary tea/coffee after 3pm with a delicious piece of cake.. . 😘 we had our dinner outside at the famous paddlers inn cafe which was just two minutes walking distance from the hotel.. We woke up in the morning to an amazing sunrise view and to a mouthwatering breakfast prepared by the hotel.. it was soo filling and the banana pancakes were soo yummy..best i've ever had.. we had to go for a walk around the galle fort to make ourselves comfortable after the heavy breakfast 🤭🤭😂 Andrew offered us a late check out as well.. but we were in a hurry to go back.. We had a superb stay.. loved it.. ❤ we will be back.
