Detailed Reviews
We had stayed here 3 years ago and unfortunately not much had changed. Their website states that cabins are sanitized between guests but that is clearly not the case. Our cabin smelled awful. Only a few windows could be opened - some windows didn't have screens and others the latches were broke off. The flystrips hanging from the ceiling were very fitting. We kept our shoes on because we didn't want to step on the rug barefoot.
While no campground in completely quiet, there seemed to be people walking around and riding go carts all night long. Maybe if the sites weren't so close together it wouldn't be so noticeable.
We were there Labor Day weekend when there was a 3 night minimum. We left a day early because we had enough.
There rate for the holiday weekend was about half the other campgrounds we were looking at. If you have your own rv/camper and got a site away from the front of the grounds I'm sure your visit would be more enjoyable. Of course there was nothing going on because of COVID either.

We stayed in vinal cabin 2 and we will not go back. First you got to bring EVERYTHING!! If you do not bring it camping you do not have it. We looked at pictures of cabins ahead of our trip and they are deceiving. When we arrived we noticed no TV, No internet (unless you have Spectrum account) and no microwave. We were told 4 times we did not need to make pool reservations but on Saturday (which was hot out) we were told to leave the pool since we did not make reservations and told we could make one just before they close the pool at night.. If you stay there strongly recommend you make reservations for the pool on weekends. I guess if you have an RV you have everything packed but I did not have everything packed for a cabin rental. The cabin was outdated and filthy. We used 7 wipes to clean and kept fining dirt. The outside also had garbage, and dog poop which I almost stepped in. They say they clean the cabins but not from what we noticed. The lake had a lot of moss on it and was not cleaned. I a not a clean freak but do expect some cleanliness.

Camping with my daughter and grandkids, we booked and paid almost $200 for our site in January for camping in August. Two hours before we were to arrive I get a phone call saying they had double booked that site and needed to move us. How does that happen and there was no explaination at all, no discount, nothing. I picked the sites I wanted near all the entertainment for the kids, now they moved us to the old DUMP ALLEY section ugh, far away from everything I wanted for the kids. The showers near the beach, no hot water and toilets not very clean. I'm local just a couple miles down the road. Much better going to Darien Lake State Park and cheaper. I am assuming they cater to their seasonal people ONLY. They lost a customer this time I won't be back.

Came to Sleepy Hollow all the way from WA state on a recommendation from a friend. We stayed June 22 - July 5th. We were glad we did! The campground was nicely laid out, it has a nice mix of campsites, some right on the lake, some more in the wooded areas and some in the center. Our site was nicely level, with a newer picnic table.
They had mini golf, boats to rent. The salt water swimming pool was by appt only, which was understandable with the current situation. The store was well stocked and reasonably priced. The staff was pleasant and fabulous to deal with. The only downside to the entire trip, was when rowdy groups began to arrive for the 4th. They paid no attention to rules, and had zero respect for other campers. After mentioning to the staff the next day they did say they had dealt with the issue. You run the risk of having those types of people at any campground though, however having the staff deal with the issue was a plus. We cannot wait to come back!

Not sure where to begin. We have stayed their for years our group has grown adding new families year after year. Something terrible has happened this year. I know ownership was changing passing it down. Right from the arrival you could tell there was a change staff was curt, bordering on rude. Don’t arrive early they will hit you with a $12 fee. If you like a certain site well that will cost you an extra $10 or they could put you anywhere. Your family would be disappointed knowing how the hospitality is gone so fast. Lots of rules except for golf carts, seasonal tenants literally control it all. Blocking people with golf carts. Zero supervision of kids, I watched young kids in the put put course hit balls so hard toward campers and vehicles. Mentioned to kids and office to no avail. We won’t be back seemed to be the them of many of the campers. Even seasonal campers are planing on leaving. Your family would be disappointed how things have turned so fast. We won’t be back.

So this is my first year as a seasonal camper and a lot was canceled due to Covid. My whole family still got to enjoy being outside, fishing, swimming, bike riding, petting the animals at the petting zoo, mini golf, relax in the salt pool, campfires, and making new friends. Even though we could not have group events the staff as made it easy for us to be there with all there hard work making sure it’s Covid friendly and all are following the rule so we can enjoy our camping. I sometimes think that without there hard work I would have been stuck at home miserable. I just love my time there and new friends as well and recommend anyone from a tent to a camper to come enjoy sleep hollow in Akron NY. Seasonal site 6D

No longer a Seasonal camper and feel so relieved. There is very poor management with it being left to the owner’s two daughters. They have crammed this place so full of sites that is just too chaotic for us. They keep the drama going by continually threatening fines, taking of people’s golf carts and also to kick people out. They have a “if you don’t like it leave attitude”. If you have ever worked with the public or own your own business, their attitude will drive you out of your ever loving mind.

This is the most horrid campground I have ever stayed at…you get charged a sanitation fee for nothing to be clean, we left it cleaner than it was when we got there. The owner is an arrogant control freak on a power trip. The owner was annoyed that my special needs child was walking too slow. The “petting zoo” is nothing shy of animal abuse. This place was HORRID

Due to pandemic, we decided to buy a camper since we could not travel. We couldn’t imagine doing nothing all summer. So we chose sleepy hollow based on all of their offered amenities. It was an amazing summer. Even with the enhanced rules and limited activities, my kids had a blast and we spent more time there then at home. Staff was very accommodating and kind, always there to help. Neighbors became great friends and I’m sad that we only have a month left!! We will definitely be back next spring! Check out sleepy hollow, you won’t be disappointed.

Absolutely gorgeous park to camp!!! Tons of activities for kids/teens/adults and seniors. We had an action packed weekend from the beach to dodge ball, petting and feeding the donkeys, gold mining and a fire every night, it was so peaceful. Love it here!!!
