I stayed here last year and enjoyed it so much I came back. It is located in a beautiful, peaceful woodsy setting. Wake up to birds singing. It is very dog-friendly - my dog loved wading in the creek and was able to run off leash on the trail in the back of the camp. The High Falls swimming hole is close by, as our some great restaurants. The owner, Ralph, is friendly and will help with any issues.. My neighbors were great, and many have been coming here for years.
The location of the campground is great. It is set in a lovely woodsy area. However, throughout my stay here, there was a non stop cacophony of noise: chain saws, leaf blowers, weed wackers and even a very loud tractor. The noise occurred both day and night. Someone was using a leaf blower at 8:30 PM. Also the pool is still closed.
My husband, 1.5 year old child and me came up for memorial day weekend and had an amazing time. Ralf and his daughter Eve made us feel at home the minute we arrived. They had family oriented activities in the community room going on and invited us to join right away. We came by bike from Poughkeepsie. The bike ride up was beautiful, but the last part was strenuous pulling a trailer with the baby. Our tent spot was really nice. The bathrooms were clean and the showes hot. What else could you want. 😊😍
If you want a pool, activities, and other amenities, then you are better off staying at a more expensive place that has all that. If you enjoy nature and want to be close to a beautiful state park, So-Hi is the place for you. It is a modest campground/rv park in a lovely woodsy setting. Very pet friendly, with plenty of space for dogs to run around. It was quiet at night. Owner and staff are very friendly and were quick to respond to issues. It is close to great hiking in Minnewaska and Mohonk (and rock climbing). Also close to the charming towns High Falls and Stone Ridge, which have great restaurants. Kitchenette is one of my favorites. I enjoyed my stay here.
This is not a campground I would stay at again. On the good side the owner and staff were and friendly and helpful and attempted to resolve issues. However, this campground is in need in maintenance. There was a power outage in the area caused by a tree falling on a wire. Once the power company fixed it and power was back to the campground, our surge protector blocked power due to low voltage. They indicated it was corroded lines that they fixed the next day however the issue was not resolved. When we attempted to empty our black tank, the sewer backed up. Luckily, we had enough hose to reach to a main sewer line that was in the site next to ours. For the 7 days were we there, the garbage dumpsters were full and never picked up. Around the edge of the campground there were a couple of unsightly 4- 5 foot high piles of branches. Our view was of a group of rundown seasonal campers and sheds. Our site was gravel and rocks, had trouble leveling.…
