The rabbit-warren character and array of personal, well-chosen decorations reflect the homely atmosphere at Al Hakim. The owners welcome and look out for guests, provide a varied and delicious breakfast, and furnish a charming set of rooms nestled around their beautiful property. The antiquity of the property does not extend to facilities - the bathroom was modern and WiFi is abundant. Al Hakim is worth a stay for the loveliness of the hotel, and for all of Nazareth on its doorstep.

Maybe the people of Nazareth have a Special Gene for Hospitality.
And Al Hakim specifically, just wonderful. An ancient building housing a lovely family with traditional old school HOSPITALITY values.
Amazingly rich breakfast with huge variety of local greens and cooked salads with fresh pittas and breads and cheese. And having it while listening to the family's history from Abir & Rayek the parents of the family, who btw cook the whole breakfast in a sparkling kitchen. This is among those rare experiences one carries along long after the vacation is over.
Located just a few steps away from Mary's well, a starting point for any stroll, historical, religious or a casual one.
Just perfect!
Thanks Mr Bassam for making us comfortable through the pre arrival correspondence. Thanks Abir & Rayek for enriching our knowledge.

This delightful family run guesthouse is a perfect spot for a weekend in Nazareth.

Simplicity is what makes this historic house place unique. There is no need for fancy 21century fads here.

Bassam is the great great grandson of the original owner who was a famous local carpenter. The family bent over backwards to show us amazing hospitality. I mentioned it was my partners birthday and immediately we were gifted with a fab bottle of wine and the next morning a sumptuous birthday cake made by a renowned local confectioner.

The highlight of the weekend without doubt was the three hour culinary tour given to us by Bassam. Steeped in local tradition this was an experience of folklore, food and fun. Can’t wait to return with friends and family.

The hotel is very special. The renovated Crusader building kept the stones and the atmosphere of the period. Each room's stone walls and unique décor make for an aesthetic stay. The hospitality is amazing. We also enjoyed talking to Bassam and his mother about the hotel, the family's history in the building and Nazareth. The rooms were comfortable and well lit. We enjoyed the rich breakfast with traditional dishes prepared by Bassam's mother. The hotel is located a short walk to the shuk, the open market, in one direction and Mary's Well in the other. Very convenient location. The semi-outside corridor on the upper floor/level had tables, chairs and benches and you feel like you are in a garden.
Parking is not included but is close by and guarded. Well worth it.
We've already rebooked!

It was perfect in every way. Our contact before we arrived, the very friendly welcome, the personal attention, the room, the pretty old house, so well renovated. Excellent location in the old city, close to everything. The breakfast was this incredible breakfast buffet with fresh omelette and scrambled eggs, bread from the oven with zeit w zatar, fresh salads, home baked cake and much more!
The owners are so incredibly sweet and wonderful to talk to. She is a former headmaster and he is a retired bank worker and now a professional tour guide! Their son Bassam is running it and he knows what service means! So YES! Don't hesitate to stay here. It's wonderful.

Charming little hotel in the old town section of Nazareth.

The owner Bassam was an excellent host as was his staff. Especially helping out with a few additional supplies that i requested. Also helping with getting my luggage up and down the stairs, and some recommendations on places to see when my tours got cancelled.

The room was spacious. It had a desk, fridge and a kettle, tea and coffee. The bed was fine.

Shower was good. However the hot water can take some time to come through. It does get there eventually.

There are also mirrors in the room including a full length one.

The hotel is a short walk to Mary’s Well where there are a few restaurants and a mini mart for supplies.

It is also very short walk to the markets in The Old City and The Church of Annunciation.

If traveling in by bus, i suggest getting off somewhere near Mary’s Well to save you pushing luggage up steep hills. (yes i made this mistake! lol)

Thanks Bassam. Appreciate your kind hospitality. And i loved the chocolate! Nice touch.

Wonderful stay and a wonderful host!
The room was nice, clean and well equipped. It is located at the heart of the old city and yet is very quiet. Our host was charming and extremely knowledgeable about the history of Nazareth, and full of good advice about things to do, places to see and places to eat in the city.
Highly recommended!

Stone arch interiors provide a sense of the ancient character of this part of the city. Our room was just off the lobby via a sitting room shared with the adjacent guest room. Our daughter joined us on the second night, so an additional bed was made ready in advance. All aspects were very comfortable. Our host Bassam was very gracious throughout our stay.
My only disappointment was that breakfast was offered just one time during our 3-night stay. (I understand perhaps due to low occupancy other days.)

Me and my three grown boys stayed at the Al Hakim. It was a lovely hotel, with an old-town charm. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the classic Arab breakfast was welcome and satisfying every morning. The building has been in the owner's family for generations, and the family's influence is felt. It's location is also superb -- we could easily stay there for weeks exploring Old Nazareth. And Bassam also served as our guide, through Nazareth, the Sea of Galilee, Acre/Akka, Haifa, and most importantly, Safed. Bassam researched and helped me find my father's home! His personal engagement touched our hearts, and my family holds him in the greatest esteem.
