Very accommodating and professional! The made an extra effort to make our last day in Sonora a great one. The pool and bbq area are great. Rooms were nice and the location on the main street in Sonora was awesome!

This is a lovely inn. It is old and well preserved building. The bedrooms are spacious. The bathroom size is fine. Amenities have good quality. We just spent one night at the Inn. We slept well. Our rooms were in the second floor. Parking area is very good and with many options. The Inn has a nice deck to enjoy the evenings. It has a nice western flavor.
Breakfast was very simple. Just some coffee, bagels, and cereals.
We spent one night. Upon arrival the room was very clean and fresh. During COVID times, room cleaning is however, not offered for at least 4 nights. We did not face this issue as we only spent one night.
Location is nice, the Inn is located on the Sculpture road. I heard some noise from the main street around 500 am (Heavy cars). My room was in opposition to the main street. I am not sure how the noise is in the rooms located closer to the main street.
Price is very cheap. Friendly staff.
There are some restaurants close by. Restaurants close around 800 pm.

I stayed here as a performer for the Red Dirt Black Gold music festival and loved it! The phone was answered promptly every time I called and check in was a breeze! The room was clean, quiet and had the best hotel pillows. 10/10.

Upon arriving it took a couple calls to get a response at 5pm. I did not know no one would be there. Once inside the stairs up are a bit much when you have knee issues & a replacement in 2 weeks. I knew it was upstairs, but these stairs seemed to go on forever for here. When it’s your last stop after 2 weeks of traveling we needed to get repacked for airport so everything came in. After we got settled it was OK, just rough every time we left & returned. Be forwarded if you have any issues with stairs. When I booked months ago my knee wasn’t this bad. Room was clean and no complaints there. Washer and dryer were good. There’s a patio, but we didn’t get a chance to use it. Would have loved 2 sets of bath towels (for each) since we were there 2 nights. We left fairly early and got in at 8pm on the second night. I didn’t know what housekeeping hours were & didn’t want to bother them late. If someone steals them charge them if that’s the reason for the bare minimum in any kind of towel. Some kind of breakfast or just muffins & fruit would have been nice. Don’t use Covid as the reason. That’s just an excuse!! We travel a lot & have had a full breakfast until we got here. Our stay wasn’t bad, but could have been so much better. Artesia is a cute little town.

We booked the only room on the first floor of this inn the weekend we were visiting our son at FLETC. The staff was extremely warm and friendly! The room was beautiful and spacious! There was a king size bed with plenty of pillows, a sofa, dinette table and chairs, a kitchenette and spacious bathroom! Their 'business center' was one of the loveliest ones I have ever seen! It has a dining room table and chairs, a large desk with computer and printer, a comfortable recliner and loveseat with a large tv on the wall! The towels in the bathroom were luxurious! There are no windows in this room, so the room was nice and dark [which I like for sleeping]. The closet was huge!! The food was wonderful! The ONLY thing that makes me give this place a lower rating was that it was not quiet!! I thought being the only room on that floor - plus there were no guest room directly above us - that it would be a quiet room. Nope! The stairs were going up along side of the room, and at 3am the first night someone was going up the stairs laughing and talking! At 6am the staff upstairs started washing laundry [which was directly above our room] and preparing the breakfast. It was SO noisy!! The refrigerator in the room was noisy, too! The next morning my husband asked if they had a box fan we could use [hoping it would help drown out the noise some] and they were VERY helpful in providing one for us. However, it did nothing to drown out the noise again the second morning!! I was extremely tired by the time we checked out! :( If we ever get there again, I would choose to stay in one of the upstairs rooms and maybe be able to get some sleep!

Response from HeritageInnkeeper, Manager at Heritage Inn
Responded Apr 7, 2014
We thank you for your feedback since we aren't able to stay in all the rooms to experience what our guests do, and at the same time, see how our normal routine effects our guests. This does helps us see where we can improve to make your stay more enjoyable. I do want to apologize for the noise during your stay, but I can assure you that this is not a normal occurrence for us. The laundry getting started at 7:00am is early for us, it usually is not started until 9:00am, but we were short staffed those two days and we were also training some new Inn-sitters and so had to get an early start. We also understand about the stairs. Being a Historic Building, those stairs do creak and make noise. But a 100 year old is hard to keep quiet; it likes to tell people its story. We are now adding some sound proofing and insulation to the ceiling in that room to hopefully reduce any noise from above, but the stairs and other guests, we'll keep working on that. Thanks again for your comments and we hope to have you visit us again.

This was a great little boutique hotel in the oil town of Artesia. If you're planning a trip to Carlsbad Caverns definitely make the drive north. The rooms are spacious and the continental breakfast has everything you could want. All of the reviews are spot on from the honor refrigerator to the innkeeper.

The quality here is about on par with your average Bestwestern or similar. The rooms were clean and our bathroom was large but the sheets were dark green and the towels beige, which is a good way to try to hide that they were a bit worn as was the bead spread. The breakfast was "continental" with foil wrapped pastries, yogurt cups, oj, bananas and the like. There is hot tea/coffee always available as well as a fridge with cold drinks (50c each). There is also a little desk with one internet port in the hallway as well as wireless which we were able to pick up in our room. The hotel did have more character than the chains and the assistant inkeeper who checked us in was very pleasant.

The Heritage Inn is an old-fashioned hotel on the second floor of a building on the Main Street in Artesia. It has been renovated to have a fresh quality while still retaining the old-time architecture. The rooms have nice wooden floors, high ceilings, and large windows, cable TV, and individually controlled A/C and heat from a central unit. The bathroom was very nice with a glass door on the shower and tub and they provided nice toiletries. The bed was comfortable and the room was very well maintained and cleaned.
You have to walk up a long staircase from the ground level to get to the hotel although there may be an elevator too. They give you a code to punch in on the outside doors, which are always kept locked, to get in the building, and the room doors have standard keys. We did not have reservations so we had to call the inn keeper to come and check us in, as you cannot just walk in, and they did not have someone at the desk that afternoon, but they were there in a few minutes.
They have a continental breakfast and there are tables in the lobby area to eat...they had coffee, tea, bagels, cereal, etc. They also have the tea bags and cups always available so you can make some at any time, and have cold drinks available to buy.
The hotel is just a block away from restaurants and the old Land of the Sun movie theater which costs just $1.50 per show.
Although some may call it a bed and breakfast it is really not in my opinion, it is a small hotel, and we would recommend it highly...rates are about $90.00 per night.

This was a quaint, small, hotel with only 10 rooms. There was a common area on the first floor with a TV and comfortable furniture. The upper level was very homey and the innkeeper was very friendly and accommodating. There was a refrigerator stocked with pop, yogurt and other items that were paid for on an honor system. The room was cozy and clean, and the bed was wonderful. There were books and magazines available if you wanted something to read. The morning continental breakfast was very nice. It included hard boiled eggs, meat and cheese, cereal with fresh fruit, bagels, toast, pastries, yogurt, cream cheese and other items with real dinnerware. Complimentary coffee was available any time of the day. The hotel was secure in that you had to have a code to enter. Although there was no elevator, the innkeeper said they would gladly have someone bring luggage upstairs for you. The only drawback was the room we were in (#7) overlooked the rooftop patio, and if we left the curtains open, whoever was on the patio could walk right up to the window and look in. There were good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The street the hotel was on had some lovely bronze statues that depicted the history of the area. It is an easy drive to the Carlsbad Caverns

We had a great experience at the a Heritage Inn! The innkeeper, Sue, was so friendly and helpful from the very beginning and throughout our trip. She was very knowledgeable about the area and provided us with honest and reliable recommendations. The room had a lot of charm. Wood floors and 3 large windows overlooking main street. It was very clean and the linens were extremely soft (I'm always happy when there are soft linens). All the rooms are on the second floor except for one. There is no elevator because it is an older building, but Sue is happy to help with your luggage if you need it. We didnt but it was a nice offer. The breakfast included everything I needed - bagels, yogurt, fruit, granola bars, hard boiled eggs, cereal, juice, coffee, and tea. I prefer this method to serve breakfast because it is less formal and more relaxed. It makes you feel more at home and you don't have to worry about waking up at a certain time. I like to sleep in when I am on vacation and here the breakfast is available until each guest has had a chance to enjoy it. The hotel is at most a couple of blocks from three restaurants - which are basically the only three restaurants in Artesia so the location is convenient. We traveled here to visit Carlsbad Caverns - which was amazing - and also enjoyed experiencing a taste of this quaint oil town. Next time we want to explore more of Carlsbad Caverns, we will definitely stay here!

Not usually, at least that I have noticed. I know when they are doing work on the refinery I have smelled it walking out of the Inn, but most of the time I don't know the refinery is there.
There are more places to choose from in the Artesia area.
