Wanted to visit Carlsbad Caverns and Roswell, but was unimpressed with Carlsbad, NM hotel choices. We love historic hotels, whereas Hotel Artesia is not really a historic hotel, it is built in historic Art Deco style, and the price was reasonable, so we stayed here for two nights. This was a great decision and a wonderful stay! Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful, they even have a book of menus of local restaurants. Free breakfast and free bottled water offered. Facility and room were very clean and comfortable. Suite was well laid out with work desk, dining table for two, microwave, dorm fridge, swivel flat screen TV and two recliners which was great for stretching out after a long day. Work desk with USB and wall plugs available for charging.. Bed was comfortable with night stands on each side. Ample lighting with great swivel lights over the bed for evening reading. Location was fantastic! 1.5 hour drive from Cloudcroft, 1 hour to Carlsbad Caverns, 40 minutes to Roswell. We were able to visit all the sites by staying at Hotel Artesia. Hotel Artesia is easy walking distance to downtown and and several restaurants. Artesia was a pleasant surprise, thriving downtown with shops and wonderful artwork and sculptures. Anyone considering visiting Carlsbad Caverns or Roswell really should stay here. I highly recommend them staying at the Hotel Artesia. .

This is the alternative to the chains, and a great one at that. The place is designed creatively, the people are super friendly, and the public area is minimalist elegance. Bed was comfortable, breakfast was OK (prepared egg sandwiches and juice and coffee and bagels, no fruit sadly), and an unexpected treat was the use of the local health club a couple blocks away, with an extensive weight and cardio facility that was towerlingly superior to any but the most deluxe hotel gym. I stayed in this hotel as a last minute decision, the local "big chain" properties were sold out and I just did not have it in my to drive further. What a treat. I wish every small town had a choice of this quality, those loyalty programs that often influence my stays would get far fewer yearly nights.

The hotel was Art Deco style. Looked old but was build few years ago. The facilities were excellent. Rooms clean and comfortable. Location was great and could walk to many restaurants and explore the downtown. Interesting sculptures and town has interesting history.

The Hotel Artesia is a clean, modern, and well-maintained hotel. Our stay was satisfactory overall, and I feel the price we paid was fair for the quality and service we received. The front desk staff was especially helpful and friendly both when we checked in and when we checked out. I had made a reservation via a third-party website (HotelsOne.com- I would hesitate to use them again) that somehow did not go through, even though the site sent me a confirmation. Despite being nearly full, the staff at Hotel Artesia was able to find us a room. The gentleman at the front desk was apologetic and kind, even though the issue was not his fault. Once we were checked in, we found our two queen bed room was neat, clean, and attractively decorated with newer furniture. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was large. We had a microwave and mini-refrigerator. The only issue with our room was that the air conditioning unit did an inadequate job. No matter what temperature we set the thermostat on, our room remained stuffy. The thermostat appeared inaccurate, because it read the in-room temperature as being in the lower sixties the entire time we were there, which I didn’t feel could possibly be correct because of the uncomfortable warmth. The lobby had a comfortable lounge area with a nice fireplace and a bar with drinks for sale. There was a Keurig machine as well that offered free coffee and tea. The complimentary breakfast was served in the lounge area, and consisted of packets of instant oatmeal, cold cereals, bread, bagels, prepackaged muffins, yogurt, and hot biscuit sandwiches with ham or sausage and eggs. Coffee and various juices were available to drink. It had a slightly better selection and quality compared to the budget type hotels I usually stay at for simple overnight accommodations. The Hotel Artesia is a comfortable and reasonably priced hotel with above-average customer service. It is a solid choice for accommodations in the Artesia area.
