Nothing special there, quite far from everything. The beach is not very clean, with lots of alguae. The price for a bungalow is too expensive, compared to other places you can find in the area with much more comfort.
Great place, great people and great view! We spent a couple of nights at Oro Beach. It was really great. Five bungalows (some of them with two rooms), all by the beach. Simple, well equipped, plenty of beautiful colors. The restaurant overlooks the sea. We really felt at home and welcome. The secret is the people taking care of this place: Siska and her team. So friendly and professional. We could talk about Sumba culture. Really great. And the food is delicious too. Great weather until the beginning of December when the rainy season starts. Ps : try the banana pancakes. And the fruits. So good!!!
We stayed at Oro Beach House for 2 nights. We were in low-season and the only guests: we were lucky. The bungalows look nice, there is airconditioning, semi-warm water and a mosquito net available. The disadvantage is the bathroom outside. You’ll find a lot of insects in the bathroom, which does not come across as very clean. There is no wifi available, but we loved it: it is much more peaceful and restful. There is also no electricity available between 10:00-17:00, which also means no showers between that time. For us no problem, but just make sure you are aware about this. The rest of Oro Beach Houses is very romantic, with a nice bar in front of the beach where you can eat and drink and you can walk down to access the beach. The beach is beautiful, but it is dependent on low or high tide how long you can walk. We had the beach all to ourselves, but this is probably also due to low season. The owner of Oro and her children are lovely. We had a very warm welcome and they are very service oriented. We also had nice and interesting conversations with the owner Ciska. Would definitely recommend the stay, but make sure to know what you are coming for and why you are visiting (no wifi, limited electricity, but great view, nice food and romantic scenery).…
The young team is kind and caring, always with a smile to make your stay pleasant. The site is well organised with modest but clean bungalows. Nice walk on the beach. Nice food. A drier can be organised to take you to the airport.
When I were in Sumba I was only two nights staying in Oro Beach Houses and I regret it, the reason behind this is because the guests and especially host. You feel like home in there and the people somehow felt like family to me, the rooms are also cute and in overall the vibe is just really cozy and nice!
