#5 of 57 hotels in Bintan Island
Travelers' Choice
Close to Singapore lies a sweep of brilliant Indonesian islands, the most spectacular of which are found in the Riau Archipelago. Bintan Island has long been one of the region's most popular destinations. Banyan Tree Bintan occupies 240 hectares on the sea front and is comprised of 72 villas modeled on traditional Balinese architecture, all beautifully located in virgin forest. Opt for the resort's oceanfront villas with jetpools built into their sun decks, or indulge yourself in the pool villas which have their own private infinity pools. Culinary variety is the name of the game with "Treetops" offering Indonesian cuisine in an air-conditioned or al fresco setting while the signature Saffron Restaurant serves Thai and South East Asian specialties. "The Cove," is modern and up-tempo; Mediterranean cuisine is prepared here to perfection. You can also dine in your own villa - simply order from the a la carte menu or make a selection from the BBQ dinners cooked in front of your eyes.

Banyan Tree Bintan has changed a lot after closure due to pandemic covid-19. We booked our stay from 1-3 January and it was such a terrible experience. We will never come back. Rooms was not equipped with proper amenities (no bathrobes, no bedroom slippers, no laundry bags, floor was dirty with sands, no mini bar, and budget type of coffee & tea supplies. Only after I made very strong complaints they provided me with supplies that was meant to be in the room. Many food items were not available on the menu despite they claim almost full occupancy that weekend. Food presentation was poor, very unlike upmarket estaishment. The very last night we stayed, we ordered 2 items on room service. We ordered via Whatsapp (their preferred way of communication) and 20 minutes later I was told that one of the menu was not availble and they offered me an alternative. I agreed to that, but 25 minutes later the food only arrived 1 coz the other item was also not available. They argued that they tried to whatsapp me but I wasn’t replying. I am not too sure why they didn’t want to try the conventional phone that was available in the room and was used the day before by front office to contact me.

I've booked 5 Oceanview Infinity Pool Villa(2 Bedrooms). 1 of the villa is NOT according to the booking. We complained, because they gave us Oceanview Infinity Pool Villa (1 bedroom), which for the other room they SETTING it to looked like a bedroom, by combining 2 lazy chair to become a king size bed & covered the lazy chair matrass w/ bedsheet (which is not a five star & not comfy for sleep as it is very thin layer) & because I've paid for the 2 bedroom villa for all my booking. Just for your heads up for staying in Banyan tree Bintan, kindly check whether your ORGINAL booking is the same accordingly. Because what happened to my Original booking was, I've booked thru travel agency & paid for 5 villa's (2 bedrooms), but in Banyan reception after I've complaint & wanna checked my booking, they showed me different booking which 4 villas (2 bedrooms) & 1 villa (1 bedroom) which is not my original booking. It happened also to my other group of friends booking at the same time, they've booked for 3 villa's (2 bedrooms). 1 of the villa also been given 1 bedroom & lazy chair setting as bed. please just double check your villa! because the staff will said (each villa have different owner, that's why each villa's has a different style, which is ??? because as y'all know, Banyan tree is owned by 1 (banyan tree holdings). However, there's 1 good staff at taking care of us. Thank you & hope Banyan tree will improve the services.

I had spend the weekend with my family at the Banyan Tree Bintan which is really great place to stay because really close to nature. Morning when you woke up you can hear the bird singing, and the air there feels very refreshing, can smell the green of the plants and the fragrance of the flowers. Very recommended, can relax your mind and body

The hotel established in 1995 and I believe it’s the third oldest Banyan Tree resort. The service is exceptional. The hotel environment is really good, however the beach is not recommended at all. Full of rocks and oil. The Thai and Indonesian restaurants are fantastic, but the breakfast is kind of plenty and average. There’s no gym there, if you’re really that desperate I guess you can use the one at Angsana. It’s good for family travellers.

Dear thegymlad, Thank you for taking a moment to review your stay with us back in June 2019. It is great to read that you enjoyed your time with us despite having to deal with the oil at the beach. Well, I am so happy to inform you that that phenomenon is seasonal and as I write, the beach is in its best condition. We hope you can take provide us the honor of welcoming you back once the global challenges allow everyone to start retaking the normal activities to enjoy another wonderful Banyan Tree experience framed with the warmth of the Indonesian Hospitality. Until then, we all wish you the very best. Sincerely, Jose Luis Barrera Hotel Manager
