This is a beautiful heritage hotel. The history is obvious throughout the public areas which are well maintained. The patios are lovely. There is an old fashioned restaurant but it seems to have been closed. We ate at a cafeteria style restaurant which was very non descript but very good. We looked but couldn't find the pool although we were...

I find it hard to review this hotel. It is visually stunning with beautifully kept grounds and large pool. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Despite this we can't give it 5 stars. Our problems started with the check in. We arrived early around 930 in the morning after a long trip, hoping to get a room straight away....

My sister and I enjoyed this hotel immensely during our stay. The rooms and the ground are impeccably maintained and the staff conveys positivity and intuition to the needs of their guest. Other reviewers had expressed in details about the architecture and it would not be a stretch to compare it with the Raffles in Singapore or the one in...

The classical Garden Terrace Room was spacious, clean and well maintained. It was very quiet although the hotel is located right in the middle of the city. WIFI is complimentary, fast and stable. Food served at the Indigo restaurant is variety, tasty and not expensive. Try the Indonesian local cuisine, and guests will not be disappointed. Overall, great hotel experience...

This hotel has watched history went passing by in Surabaya, from Dutch Colonial, Japanese Imperial up to now Indonesia. This hotel has been visited by public figure from centuries ago. Those two reasons made us stop for a minute and looked what inside the Hotel. We were not lucky enough to stay longer in Majapahit, but we were pleasant enough...

The hotel is a beautiful colonial building in the city centre. Classic and classy. The room are spacious, great beds and quite unique. A little dark inside so dont spend too much time in your room. The pool was a little worn down and needed a refurb but ok. I got married in the grounds which were absolutely perfect. You...

Thank you for conveying your comments on your stay at our Grande Dame. We take good note of your suggestions and will take the time and effort to address those with immediate required actions. Travelling en route to Bromo, the hotel location was not so important but seemed fairly central and in an older, more historic part of the city. I just love old, restored hotels& buildings that have some history to them and so it was an easy choice to choose the Majapahit. The hotel is initially impressive, remaining so in all public...

This hotel was operated by the Sarkies Brothers at the same time that they operated Raffles. The Majapahit is a magnificent reminder of those times at a very reasonable price. Breakfast has a wide range of choices and was excellent, as was dinner in Indigo. The room is classic design while having all mod cons. The only small hiccough was...

Thank you for your very nice review. You seem to be very knowledgeable about the Sarkies trail, very interesting indeed to see that the Sarkies hotels were the talk-of-the towns in major cities from Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar to Cambodia. I had the good fortune of staying at the Hotel Majapahit in Surabaya on a recent business trip. The hotel was built in 1901 and still retains the charm of the grand hotels of that era. The rooms are all over sized compared to modern hotels. The hotel plays a significant role in the eventual independence of Indonesia. It's furnished...
