+ The atmosphere. The breakfast. They gave me free upgrade room to executive suite due to our anniversary. The history behind this hotel. Very clean. The bed was very fluffy and comfy. I love this hotel very much! Worth it! - I am wondering why did the staff open my wrapped luggage without asking permission first. Very dissapointing. Many mosquitos... More

Just back from Surabaya staying at this hotel with my wife. From outside the hotel has an art deco style and unlike other hotel, you can feel a nice ambience of historical when entering. Going to the room from its lobby you feel like being in the past imagining how the colonial time looks like. The tile, pillars, windows, garden,... More

One of the best conserved former Dutch buildings in Surabaya is Hotel Majapahit (Oranje Hotel). Well decorated, friendly staff and a great garden. Although this place is now Indonesian (it has even a big freedom painting on the wall), I would recommend hotel Majapahit for a visit or a longer stay if your looking for the Indonesia of the 20th... Pros: - simply beautiful. You have to go around large gardens with fountains to get to your room. It is always a wonderful walk. - great spa. I had the 90 mins candle massage and it only cost around 50 usd and the masseuse was friendly and skilled. - fully equipped fitness. I am a fitness freak and I hit... More

What the hotel lacks in terms of modern fittings etc is more than made up for in character. Old colonial style hotel which is strangely peaceful in the middle of such a chaotic city. Step back in history, relax in the spa and enjoy a fine variety of food. Breakfast choice is fairly limited for European tastes.

Would I return? Yes, though I would also check other options. Specifically liked: Beautiful setting, well decorated property in traditional style with well-maintained gardens throughout multiple court yards. Biggest Opportunity: Roof top bar looked like an appealing location for food and drink, though it was not open during my stay. Other info: Open on garden side but still weather protected... More

The hotel was built in 1910 and displays Dutch Colonial style, the extension where the reception and restaurants facilities were added in 1932 and inaugurated by Charlie Chaplin, the Prince Leopold III and Princess Astrid of Belgium (who became King & Queen), Joseph Conrad (the novelist) and Paulette Goddard (the French Actress). Since then the Majapahit has been home to... More

Even if you don't stay here as a guest this hotel is worthwhile visiting. The building was constructed from 1900 onwards and was ready some 30 years later. It is in Art Nouveau style whereas the exrenrion is in Art Deco style. The interior is Art Deco style and still very original. A hotel that calls for memories of the... More

If you are fans of Raffles at Singapore, E&O at Penang... well Hotel Majapahit is one of the hotel that you should stay and visit... Very beautiful, classic, a lot of story and spooky.. I feel spooky because I know the story behind this building, but not let me to admire this building and the garden..

A great place to stay right in the middle of the business district yet one feels miles away because its lush and manicured gardens and spacious and well appointed rooms, plus elegant communal areas. Was owned by the same people who owned Raffles in Singapore, The Strand in Rangoon and the P&O in Penang. Maintenance is very good so it... More
