I really appreciated the server Aji. So sweet and happy to work. He makes us smile as soon as we enter. The restaurant itself is very pretty and has amazing furniture. The vibe is great. The music is not agressive and the food was good.

+1
We very much enjoyed our experience here, the ambiance was very nice with cool lounge type chairs and nice music and very attentive service. The sushi we ordered was cool, it wasn’t very authentic but it was very creative and inventive. The quality was so so but we still liked it. The owner Dominique came to meet us and he was so kind!

We went to the restaurant during our honeymoon because we saw there was live music. We couldn’t imagine what a magic night it was gonna be.
The food was delicious, a chefs recommandation accompanied by a beautiful red wine, recommended by the manager. Great choice.
The music was perfect, the singer had a lovely voice, accompanied by great musicians. We even had some dances.
The owner Dominique made us really feel special and we like to thank him again for an evening we will never, ever forget.
We will definitely be back when we’re in the neighborhood.

Rouge is placed in a great location within walking distance to most sights and shopping in Ubud.
It does need to review its description as it is inaccurate. For example, there is no mini fridge in the villa, there is no TV in the villa or onsite spa/massage facilities.
It needs to consider what facilities make things more comfortable for its guests such as having a mini fridge and tea/coffee making facilities which have become the norm in most hotels. I was in Bali and Gilli T for three weeks and the Rouge was the only hotel that I stayed in with no hot drinks-making facilities and no mini fridge!
The room configuration also needs attention as the light switches are too far from the bed so you have to get out of bed to switch the lights off especially inconvenient if you had been reading and are about to go to sleep!
Nevertheless, the staff could not do enough for you and they made my stay enjoyable and comfortable.
Try their onsite restaurant, their sushi is amazing and you might get to meet one of the owners who came to say hello to me. Live music is currently only twice a week, I saw this once and it was an enjoyable Jazz duo.
I ordered their sushi on three occasions and all three were exquisite and I could not fault its taste or value for money!
There is a lovely spa about 3 minutes walk which offers good treatments, and also a lovely rock restaurant and bar, which offer lovely and good value Balinese meals.

I'm Chinese were born in Indonesia lady who stay and worked in the same lane with Rouge, first time i visited Rouge and just wanted to try sushi so i took away the order. when waiting the order, i was sitting inside, that time i was the second customers, and then came the third, i saw the Boss of Rouge went to the first foreigner couple (sit in the front left corner) and said hi to them & bla bla bla then went to the third foreigner customers (who sit in front of me) and said hi to him & bla bla bla the last words "enjoy your dinner" and he passed me went to the bar side.
the fourth customer was a young foreigner couple was sit next to me in the corner, again the Boss passed me and went to the young couple bla bla bla and passed me went to the bar.
It was surprised me .... is it because i'm the local so he thought no need to say hi to me ??
i didn't expect him to come and bla bla bla with me, but the way i saw he treat the foreigner better than he treat local customers ?
But still i went there for many times, just because i like the Sushi, and i know the partner Michele nice lady.
just curious is there any other local person has been treated like me ??

Responded Feb 4, 2015
Dear M4ri4_Ng, i just read your review and first of all, i really want to apologize about what is your feeling. I am so surprised to know that i forgot to say hello to you because when i am on place, i use to welcome all the guests, western and local people as well, with the same way. I am happy to know that you love our sushi and came back many times after this first time. I will be on place next week for one month and will be very pleased to welcome and invite you for a drink and for a little "blabla" as soon you will have a little time. Hope to see you soon at rouge. Dominique

We felt very welcomed by the two owners Laurent and Dominique who transmitted us their passion for Bali.
Restaurant: excellent sushi and outstanding ice creams. Beautiful setting, atmosphere and view. Very affordable.
Cube Spa: best value for money ever seen. Adorable staff.
Hotel: the bed is divine, the bathroom and the overall villa are really well-designed. Only not-so-great points are:
1/ the breakfast. If you stay in the villa facing the sun (like Villa 2), you’ll burn during your breakfast, even at 9am. The breakfast itself is a bit of a disappointment compared to the rest of the services. Had our order right twice out of 6. I don’t think that there is much value into having an ad-hoc breakfast served in front of the villa and think that guests could have a ‘standard’ breakfast in the garden / restaurant.
2/ the night service. Not really sure this is adding anything to the overall experience, but having people knocking loudly at your door in the evening is not a pleasure. The first day, they knocked until I came to open… I was initially having a shower. This was anything but relaxing.
Manager of the hotel Putu Parwana: Main reason for not putting 5/5. He has been incredibly rude and disrespectful to my partner when she tried to understand how a single fare to the airport (1h-1h30) could cost 400,000 IDR when a day-tour (10 hours) costs 600,000 IDR (Rouge tariff, quite expensive, but if you have to spend a day with a driver, you may want to go for someone who has been selected by your hotel). He even asked her to call a taxi herself showing her the telephone. How despicable! He deliberately lied on 2 occasions: suggesting to her that I agreed to pay 400,000 IDR, which was never the case and suggesting that Rouge would be responsible if we had an accident during the travel to the airport, which is wrong. The taxi drivers are indeed not staff from the hotel but just some recommendations. He clearly treats women as second-class customers. If you think women deserve the same respect as men and/or if you’re not willing to see your partner being humiliated in front of you, you should not go to Rouge (or avoid this uncivilised person coming directly from the Middle Ages).
(The first taxi driver I’ve asked in the street offered us 250,000 IDR for the airport transfer without negotiation. We went ahead with him, had a very nice car and his English was OK.)

Sometimes pictures and reviews can give you a complete different image of a hotel. Unfortunately at Rouge Villa & Spa for me and my family a lot went wrong and as a conclusion we are very disappointed with our stay. Firstly no warm welcome: after arrival at Rouge a lady told us we had to pay for an extra bed. After showing my email confirmation that everything was paid, the lady was still not convinced and she continued saying that we had to pay the extra bed. In the end it turned out that she mixed up the rooms with other guests. No apologies from her side. Secondly the 50 meter pool in front of the house is nice. But if another guest is a swimmer who starts to train every morning at 7am and thereafter his kids starts to jump into the pool, just in front of your villa, you're wide awake. And this lack of privacy continued by the two French owners - always sitting behind a table in the restaurant - who tried to convince us to eat in their sushi and (new) hamburger restaurants and even gave us brochures of other villas they own. A bit too pushy according to our liking. Thirdly design is of course a matter of taste, but for a hotel in Ubud we missed the 'Bali-atmosphere'. In my eyes a typical dated designer was active for this place: give everything the same color, put some 'modern' furniture in and around the villas and call it a 'boutique' or 'design' hotel. All is a bit tacky and lacks the warmth we always like being in Bali. But again, design is a matter of taste.
Of course there is also something good to mention. Breakfast is nice, the location in the middle of Ubud is convenient and the Balinese staff is friendly. For us next time again a place with a warm and sincere Balinese atmosphere.

They have a limited breakfast option, where you're supposed to fill a form....yes fill a form for breakfast which you pre-booked and gave a good amount for....now this form doesn't allow you to have more than 2 eggs. Me and my husband asked for omelette, scrambled egg and egg Benedict, which is too much for two people as per their services. We were told that if you don't like the service, please get out of our property and we will not refund you. On our honeymoon- first day in Ubud after a long travel- we were asked to leave in the morning because of eggs. This property is run by a couple and the wife who sits at the counter said that you are harassing me, when we asked her why you have such limited options in breakfast. Overall very bad experience, would highly not recommend it. Bad things:-
1. Hospitality- rude staff
2. Asked to leave without refund
3. Bad breakfast
4. Small property
5. Very quiet
Good things:-
1. Location
2. Looks good only in pictures
Also, we got our refund for the two days (we booked for 3) after negotiating with the wife, husband told us that we are bad people.

DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU ARE ON A BUDGET, NEED WIFI OR WANT PRIVACY!!!!
Everything is completely overpriced. The free breakfast was basic but ok. The spa we didn't use, looked at the prices and couldn't believe that only a 1 minute walk could get the same for a quarter of the price. The food in the Japanese restaurant we did not eat, again, extremely over priced. We would come and go through the day and they were always going into the room adjusting blinds ect. Everyone can see in your villa, and you share one big green mouldy pool. No pressure on the taps, that smell, and couldn't fill the bath as the water went cold. The wifi.... Non existent.
BUGS EVERYWHERE!!
The greeting from the staff is rude, the whole lot put a sour taste on our honeymoon. Spent $250 Aud for 2nights and wish we stayed in a homestay, would have got waaaaaayyyyyy more value for a hell of a lot less.

400 krp "Massage signature" jai trouvé ce massage supérieur à ceux prodigués précédemment a Karsa et Botanica. Plusieurs techniques réunies dont réflexologie vraiment efficace . Duree 90'. Masseuse concentrée et dans le ressenti. Sorry, je ne me souviens pas de son nom ! Natation intensive plongée. Poids de bouteilles etc, elle a eu du boulot. ;-)
