    Definitely coming back!
My husband and I stayed 4 nights at Alaya during part of our honeymoon and it was AMAZING. The staff kindly gave us a free upgrade when they found out we were on our honeymoon! The suite was so spacious and comfy. I loved the huge bathroom, which had a big shower and a hot tub in the middle. We also had a serene balcony. The breakfast was so delicious, you could either grab breakfast at the buffet or order a breakfast meal from a menu (surprisingly we liked this more than the buffet). So many people i know who have been to Bali complained about hotel breakfasts, but for us we looked forward to it every morning! We came late once and the staff was super nice about it and didn’t mind at all. The staff are so so accommodating, always willing to help, always smiling and asking us if we need anything. And the location! Perfect! You walk out onto the street and you find a bustling main street with cafes, restaurants, gift shops, massage parlors and everything. You walk back into the hotel and suddenly you’re in a calm relaxing oasis. So many small things that make this place feel so special. Upon arrival we were greeted with cold towels and drinks, every day there is afternoon tea at the lobby (free), they sent us a complimentary cake for our honeymoon, they offer a photo session (we missed ours and still regret it!), the shampoos conditioner soaps are all custom make, smell fabulous and can be purchased Thank you so much Alaya! Our honeymoon wouldn’t have been the same without you.

Come to Ubud and stay at Alaya!
My boyfriend and I spend 5 incredible nights at Alaya Hotel in Ubud. The hotel gorgeous! Each space is thoughtfully decorated with beautiful Balinese furnishings. We stayed in a Deluxe Room which is stunning and has a beautiful view of the rice fields. Alaya is perfectly situated in the middle of town, 10 minutes walk to the Sacred Monkey Forest and next door to Yoga Barn. There are also plenty of restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance no matter which way you turn out of the hotel. I would absolutely recommend a spa treatment at DaLa Spa and a meal at either of their delicious restaurants. Also, don’t miss afternoon tea! The kitchen prepares locally sourced sweets that are divine! The hotel will also set up tours for you so you can enjoy the local culture and sights. During our stay we went to a rice terracing field, coffee plantation, volcano, waterfall and many gorgeous temples. The drivers are incredibly knowledgeable and kind (we are especially thankful to Darwita, Weian and Bayu for making our tours so enjoyable!). The entire staff at Alaya are wonderful and they really make you feel at home in their hotel. We had an amazing experience and if we are fortunate enough to find our way back to Bali, we would stay here again, no hesitation!

    Excellent Location. Amazing Staff
The hotel is located only a 10 minute walk from the Monkey Forest. There are lots of restaurants and Spa Places within a stones throw. In fact, there is a very useful large super market right by it as well. As for the hotel itself. Well, the reception is an open area right by the busy main road. You immediately get the impression that you would have to contend with alot of noise when sleeping but this was a deception. The rooms are actually way back of the hotel and it is genuinely peaceful. There are certain rooms that have advtantages over others. The rooms close to the spa (where I was) were further back and less likely to encounter any noise from other hotel guests. However, this meant a slightly longer walk back to the reception. Accessibility is not the best for a stroller. There are no ramps in some parts of the resort so you would have to take out your baby and carry the stroller. We did find a useful shortcut to exit the hotel - which was to exit out the back entrance where the staff have their cigarette breaks. This goes directly to the back end car park. Other good points are the excellent showers in our rooms as well as the alaya stone bath. We particularly enjoyed the buffet breakfast and made use of the flawless spa facility. Above all we were so grateful for the kind and attentive attitude of the staff towards ourselves and our children. Thank you Alaya Hotel :)

This was our fourth visit to the Alaya as our base for some retail therapy in Ubud town centre and eating in fantastic restaurants in the surrounding areas. For the first time in those visits the hotel was full. This is the real test for facilities and staff. Both passed with flying colours. Considering the reception area is quite constrained, the whole check in and out process was relatively smooth. Breakfast was managed very efficiently - management monitoring discreetly and supporting when things got tight. Rooms and housekeeping top notch. ( always opt for Alaya room over deluxe, worth the difference ). You don’t come here to laze by the pools, they are adequate but Ubud and environs should have your full attention. The spa is top priced but 100 % worth it if you need chilling. Will we be back ? You bet.

My wife and I have stayed at Alaya a few times since it opened over 10 years ago. We have already booked to come back as this resort is just so comfortable and you can't get more central to Ubud. The staff (many who have been here from the start) and facilities are excellent. Ubud gets busier and busier but once you step into Alaya the noise melts away. The fact that Alaya is so central means that everything in Central Ubud is in walking distance. The spa is excellent and we availed ourselves of a few treatments as well as enjoying the free body scrub making class (only the 2 of us). Music at the front of the resort on the weekends but not the dull rock sing-alongs that seem to be sprouting up everywhere else, the music here is more funk, soul mixed with a real Balinese flavour. The breakfast buffet catered for every taste.

We kindly got upgraded to an Alaya room which was very spacious with a wonderful comfortable bed, great pillows and quality toiletries. Staff were all very friendly, great spa and pools set amongst lush rice paddies. A step out the front of the resort and you're right in town close to all the shops and restaurants. Will definitely stay again.

Wow what a place. We spent 6 days here and I have to say if I return to Ubud, this would be my hotel of choice. It's a small, boutique hotel with so much charm and whilst on one of the busy Ubud streets, totally peaceful. Very Zen! We had a deluxe room, which was very spacious and immaculately clean (thank you to Christiana!). The stand out here apart from the totally calm feel and beauty of the hotel, is the staff. Just lovely people and they tolerated my attempts at speaking in Balinese (Thank you Addie!) They really are the loveliest people and I only wish I could remember everyone's' names. Breakfast was good, lovely fresh fruit and a mix of European and Asian cuisine. If you're going to be site seeing in and around Ubud, I can't think of a better place to return to after a busy day. Oh and it's just around the corner from the Monkey Forest! You'll often see a cheeky monkey just having a stroll across the roof! When you're not site seeing, the pools are lovely and quiet, you'll always get sunbed and there's plenty of shade. I can't recommend this enough. Thank you to all the staff at the hotel for making our stay so special.

They have bed bugs....my daughter got 9 bites on her face from the bed bug. She is so miserable on the flight back to USA. I wished we didn't stay in Alaya Ubud. Besides bed bugs, shower/bathroom is dirty...towels are almost grey (not white)...neighbors are noisy...If you want to stay at luxury hotel, this doesn't even meet the minimum expectation of cleanliness.

Dear Jenny T, Greetings from Alaya Resort Ubud! First of all, Thank you for sharing your recent holiday experience with the Trip Advisor readers. The time taken to give us your valuable feedback is highly appreciated. It’s hard for us to hear that you had a negative experience, as we always do our best to provide every customer with the best services possible. Unfortunately, in this case, we did not meet your expectations. Please be informed that our Housekeeping team overseen by a supervisor cleans all rooms with attention to detail to ensure that our standards are met. To avoid insects or bed bugs, we work with a special pest control company that does chemical treatments on a regular basis, which includes the termination of bugs and insects in any shape or form. This treatment is conducted by hot vacuum steam or using chemicals. When the rooms are occupied all linens are changed regularly to maintain our standards and to ensure the cleanliness and comfort of all our guests. I therefore ensure that no bed bugs can be found at Alaya Resort Ubud. Until up to now, no guest has ever mentioned a case of so. However, We truly understand your concern and we address our sympathy towards your daughter's situation. With all due respect, you might want to take her to a Dermatologist and get a professional opinion as there are a lot of leading causes that could be from weather, food allergy or can also be from detergent, etc. Second thing, in regards to the noise upper your room, we checked and informed you upon check out that it came from another guest who checked in late and left early in the morning, but again we failed to exceed your expectations. Your feedback is not left unnoticed and we will work to fix this to minimize an incident like so. Your feedback is valuable information for us, so please do not hesitate to reach out with any further comments or questions. Best Regards, Dewi Mas, CHA, CHT General Manager

Excellent hotel/resort in a very convenient part of Ubud. The facilities are well maintained and the rooms comfortable with hood amenity. The only knock is the small pool and same (but generous and diverse) breakfast each morning. Staff are friendly and helpful.

A wonderful oasis of calm amid the bustle of Ubud, this was a perfect base to rest and regenerate between sightseeing around Ubud and the local area. The pools were quiet, no lounger hogging and the grounds were beautiful. We had a suite for our family of four, which was enormous and luxuriously kitted out. Even the toiletries were wonderful. The food in the restaurants was more expensive than outside the hotel which is to be expected, but was of really excellent quality - even the poolside bar menu. We were given complimentary Balinese massage which was blissful. I couldn't recommend this highly enough for those wanting a high end experience to complement their exploration of Bali. What made it very special was how friendly and helpful all the staff were, even the groundskeepers had a smile and word of welcome. As first-time travellers to Bali we really felt reassured if there were any problems the staff would help us, including booking drivers and tours if we wanted (although we already had this organised). Complimentary mineral water generously and frequently replaced in the room and insect repellent in the room were helpful touches!

Firstly start off with the good! The hotel does have lots of potential. The staff were incredible and outside of the hotel was lovely . The location of this hotel is perfect. Staff are attentive and nothing is to much trouble for them. They really went above and beyond. The grounds in the hotel are beautiful and the pool area was lovely, however unfortunately beanbags and loungers were rather stained. What ruined our stay was the smell of the room. It smelt awfully of damp - there even was a dehumidifier in the room! This shocked us as they clearly knew the room smelt terrible. We hardly spent any time in the room due to the smell. We thought about complaining but given the fact they clearly knew the room smelt, the hotel was fully booked so we couldn’t move room anyway, and on some research from previous trip advisor reviews saying that other rooms smelt awful, we decided against complaining. We only stayed a handful of nights but I was unfortunately glad to get out of there. I couldn’t not stand one more night in the smell. Really really disappointed as every other aspect of the hotel was fabulous. Unfortunately we would not be back, and I think there are other better options particularly at this price point! We have stayed at other hotels at a third of the price in Bali which have been much better! A heavy price tag for a smelly room!

The hotel is in the center of the town, 5 minutes walk to go to the monkey forest, near you can also find supermarket, atm, restaurant, bar, spa, pharmacy. The hotel is clear, very nice, with two pool not so big, the spa with a treatment of about 30 minutes for a minimum of 4 days. The room is very big, clean, silent. The staff clean the room twice a day. The staff is very gentle. I spent my birthday here and they sing me the birthday's song with the birthday's cake, very nice. I reccomanded to stai here! Thanks to all. In august the 12th there is a ceremony so you can see all young boys play tipical instruments and go around with a dragon.
