This small boutique hotel is just a short car ride away for the busy Ubud area. The service is impeccable from the minute you arrive. If you are interested in seeing the sites guided the hotel manager is happy to arrange a private guide. The rooms while nothing over the top fancy are quite large and have a wonderful view... More

Me and my girlfriend (both 25 y/o from London) stayed at the Mathis Retreat for 5 nights. We thought it was fantastic and was everything we were looking for from our first visit to Bali. Such a shame that management/maintenance of this place does not follow up with its gorgeous facility and surroundings around. I had ants, lots, in the room 16 for my 1st night stay; I was very well aware of the fact that I was in the middle of rice fields, so I understood it could happen. Next day, I was moving... More

Dear Choo- Ho Rhee, As we told you during your stay, Mathis Retreat is located in the middle of the rice paddies (and that’s why many people want to stay with us for the amazing views and atmosphere) and as you know Bali got a huge quantity or rain from beginning of July (anormal for this season). These heavy rains... More

I've stayed at this hotel with my parents twice - once in 2014 and once in 2016. It was then known as Kenanga. I hope that the name change doesn't impact anything else, because our stays were both so perfect. The staff are SO attentive and friendly. The service is really amazing. You're welcomed with warm smiles every morning, and... More

Stayed at hotel for 2 nights, the place is fantastic and unique, rice field right at the backyard, relaxing and refreshing. When we finished roaming around ubud, we always stoped by terracota restaurant at the hotel to get some desserts. And waht desserts! Must try the profiteroles. Overall great experience, something you dont get even at five stars.
