I was warmly welcomed to Pondok Ibu Anna by new owner Penny and head of house Kadek. A peaceful retreat in the rice fields, away from the noise and crowds of central Ubud, yet within easy walking distance of it. A luxuriant garden, ponds with waterlilies and fish, and very comfortable traditional accommodation. I stayed in the Villa, but the... More

You go down a little walking path away from all of the traffic and deep into rice fields to find this little gem while still being within walking distance or a short scooter ride to all of the restaurants, cafes, spas, yoga centers, shopping, etc. that Ubud has to offer. The luscious garden is the star attraction here. Every morning... More

My husband and I stayed in the Joglo at this property. It is an ornate hut on stilts with semi-outdoor bathroom and a balcony to relax overlooking rice paddies and a secluded fruit and veg garden. The Joglo also had lockable draws, fresh boiled water daily and a small fridge. A delicious breakfast is served in a bale in the... More

My first time in Bali, and part of a 3 month trip all over Asia. Anna, Kadek and Yandira became as close as family. This 10 days was the heart and soul of my 3 months away. I feel so blessed to have met and spent such a wonderful time with each of them. The wonderful food that Kadek made... More

Unless you have been to Bali before I don't think you can appreciate how special a little place like Bali Firefly is. Yes its a bit of a walk from the car to the house- about 5 min if you are slow like me, but Kadek will carry your bags. Yes Ubud markets and shopping/eating district is a bit of... More

We thoroughly enjoyed a fortnight's holiday at Ann Donnan's guesthouse, pondok Ibu Anna, just outside Ubud. We stayed in the traditionally-built Villa, one of three lodgings on the site, with all it's amenities and delicious breakfasts, surrounded by a beautifully garden, isolated pavilion and fish pond. The staff, Kadek and Iluh, were competent and so polite and charming to talk... More

If you ever get a chance to go to Bali stay with Ibu Anna at her Pondok and Kunang-Kunang Guesthouse in Penestenan. It was wonderful. The location was great. Located deep in the ricefields of a very small village near Ubud. The people though, made the adventure. Ibu Anna, Yandira, Kadek and Iluh made our stay most relaxing, exciting, and... More

“We loved the guesthouse for the two of us, but there is a lovely Jogolo for something more intimate”

“Good if you want a lot of guidance and attention. Anna's home, "the villa" is much nicer than the Guest House or Joglo for not a lot more. I guess she just moves out if it's rented. The whole compound would be lovely for a family if the rent were reasonable.”

“Guesthouse - large room and outdoor bathroom, the covered, outdoor sitting area is a great spot to sit and relax. Joglo - great for a honeymoon (or the kids) - its small, but is a tad more secluded since its down in the garden. Villa - the upstairs has quite a view; great balcony for sitting out and relaxing.”
