Detailed Reviews
Sativa Villas was, in one word, amazing. We got the shuttle from Denpasar to the villa (roughly a 1 1/2 hour drive) and from the moment we arrived, until the moment we left, we felt like we were part of a Balinese family.
We stayed in the Orchid Villa. Each of the 2 bedrooms had a/c and beautiful green views. There was a 3 x 9 m pool, with three different outdoor areas to relax and chill. The price included a daily complimentary breakfast (juice + fruit platter or fruit / yoghurt + coffee/tea + hot meal (eggs, noodles, ....). While breakfast was being set up, the pool was cleared of leaves, the grounds were swept / mopped, and we were then left to relax.
There were free shuttles each day from the villa to Ubud centre (10 min drive, or a 45 minute walk) at 10am, 2pm and 5pm, and a free pick from the drop-off location which is near the Palace at 10.15, 2.15, 5.15 and 7.30pm. You can be shuttled in/back at other times but it attracts a IDR70000 fee (roughly AU$7).
Mini bar items are incredibly cheap (roughly AU$3.50 for a Bintang beer), and you can have room service with very affordable meal prices. Rooms are serviced daily, and since we were there for 7 nights we all received a complimentary 60 minute massage.
The staff are very helpful and always willing to advise and help with your daily planning. Special thanks to Indra, Gusti, Mayan, and Oka who were always polite, professional, kind and helpful. The staff went above and beyond our expectations - e.g. by making ginger tea a small bowl of porridge for my daughter when she felt unwell. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Sativa Villas as a place to stay for your next visit to Ubud.

Gorgeous villa. Staff are amazing, I’ve never stayed in a villa before but they were so courteous, respected our privacy, couldn’t do enough for us. Treated our daughter like a little princess.
Breakfast was good, dinner was really good too. Free afternoon tea was a great little treat.
Location wise we didn’t walk anywhere as it’s hard with a toddler but easy enough to get a shuttle into Ubud centre.

The villa is very beautiful but if you want a quiet place in the middle of the rice fields, don't come here. A building is under construction right next door and from 8 a.m., you will be lulled by the sound of the crane and the generator. Not to mention the smell of diesel given off by them. There are around 10 workers on site at any time who have a direct view of the garden and the swimming pool. In summary: noise and no privacy. Before coming, make sure that the work is completed because the asking price is absolutely not in line with the inconvenience.

Work that wakes you up early in the morning
You can have lunch with very little choice and do not adapt to special requests.
Aging of infrastructure, photos are well taken.
AirPods left on the lunch table that went missing while cleaning the house.

We stayed in 3 different areas of Bali during our 3 week stay and was expecting our 5 night stay at Sativa to be the most peaceful and tranquil part of our trip.
Unfortunately there is a very large construction site ongoing directly next to Sativa Villas. The villas themselves are nice although were slightly dated compared to the other villas we stayed in.
The first villa we were placed in was overlooked by the construction site and the workers were able to see into our private compound. So not exactly the private pool we were hoping for. We asked to move villa which was kindly accommodated, however the road noise and construction noise from this villa was not idea.
The staff here, however are amazing. Very friendly, helpful and certainly made our stay memorable.
Ubud was our favourite area of our trip however we would choose somewhere else purely based on the construction that is ongoing.

The villa is great, has a rather retro style to it (it as in the floor), staff are friendly, swimming pool isn't freezing. Hard to spot though, but the experience makes up for it. I would say the power plugs should be moved, instead of putting them all on the wall. Overall, amazing, highly recommended.
