Stayed at The Sungu Resort for three nights and we had a good time as the location was close to nearby restaurants. Though the hotel needs a bit more cleaning as the bathing tub was not cleaned enough thoroughly, the staff was very friendly. We had 3 choices of breakfast to choose from and it was simply awesome. Thank you.

Beautiful grounds. Quite close to the main streets. Staff were attentive and polite. Breakfast was adequate. The shuttle was a good service. Overall a very enjoyable stay. The lighting is a bit dark in the rooms and open bathroom has insects which can’t be helped. The room service food was delicious and fairly priced. Enjoyed our stay.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location for a stay in Ubud (15-20 min walk to the palace) and shuttle service included. Beautiful balanesien hotel with outdoor bath. The kids enjoyed the pool after sightseeing. Highly recommended

Our two families recently stayed for five nights at The Sungu and had a great time. The villa pools were actually cool and refreshing and the staff were lovely, particularly Ruta who was exceptionally helpful and friendly - even getting us a great deal on a bike riding day out. The breakfast could probably be improved, limited options and smallish serves. Overall a lovely getaway.

The Sungu Resort was our first stop in our 16 day Bali Trip. kids loved it as we had a spacious 2 bedroom villa (on two floors) with a small but very nice private pool. the larger hotel pool was just a few steps away so we enjoyed always both pools. Pool service for drinks/food is fast and very good. The breakfast in the hotel was served, hence no buffet. But the choice is very good and the quality of the food definitely too. What we appreciated is that they offered an en excellent shuttle service to the town. They would also always pick us up again upon demand.

I would like to start by saying the staff here were lovely, very welcoming and helpful. We had an unexpected 1 night stay here as our other hotel overbooked... This hotel is a great concept, with small pools shared between 2 villas for deluxe option as well as one main pool, lush vegetation and who doesn’t love an outside bathroom. The property is close to central ubud and has a shuttle that will drive you there and pick you up on request. However - this place hasn’t been cleaned in a long time. Dirty walls, dirty windows, dirty mosquito shade and stained bed sheets. You’re in ubud and some nature in your rooms is normal, we had a lizard join us overnight. However; the cobwebs could and should be dusted away. The bathroom sink and bath also need a good scrub. There is no safety deposit box in the rooms but there is deposit boxes in the reception area and you take the key with you. I’m genuinely not sure who rates this hotel as 4 star. With the cleanliness issues i feel I am being generous giving this place 3.

First impressions were good. Very traditional Balinese resort with wooden doors. There is an ambience about the place which you can pick I up very quickly. We are a family of five which is always an pain to book for as most computers say “no!”. So we booked a double bedroom unit and a 3 person unit. Both had impressive bathrooms which were partly outdoors although both are starting to look a little old but all working and quality. The beds were very comfy and again they were huge! We had a shortage of wall plugs/points that we could use for adaptors. The swimming pool was lovely. The breakfast were also very good. The staff were so friendly and always wanted to chat. There were a number of people carriers that were at our service to shuttle us to Ubud or other places close by.

I wish I could give it 7 star rating. Just staying at this place is worth all the effort and money spent on coming to Bali. Your room is actually a standalone villa. Completely private, serene. Your personal large swimming pool with sun loungers and clean towels. Sculptures and stone artefacts all around the villa and inside the room. Old world charm combined with modern amenities. When you open the door to bathroom, initially you are shocked. It is open air, yet private. With modern bathtub, hot shower, western commode. Location is also ideal. Very close to the Ubud market. Lots of options to eat Balinese /chinese / Thai / Italian /Indian cuisine. Lots of great bars with sitting place outside or indoor. The hotel also provides complimentary shuttle service to Ubud market on demand. The food at The Sungu Resorts and Spa is also awesome. They give complimentary breakfast. Above all hospitality is unmatched.

My partner and I stayed at the Sungu for 4 nights in May/June. The villa was spacious, romantic with the added treat of the outside bathroom. I have to say that it is rustic and you would encounter frogs etc. as it is in a natural surrounding. If you want a posh, modern stay this is not for you. We did had a great, relaxed time and the employees were super helpful, always smiling and got me to a medical facility when needed! We often walked to the city and back and the only downside was the massive hill but you get used to it! Would stay here again!
