Just spent a wonderful few days at the Shala, Bali. Great setting, wonderful food and such friendly and helpful staff - couldn’t do enough for us. The only small suggestion is that the owners were pretty aloof and not very welcoming. They could learn a lot from their friendly staff.

Went to the place as a part of the yoga retreat. The location of the place was about 5 min walk from the street through the rice fields, was far from the street, private enough. The pool was good and so was the room, bed comfortable. On a negative side we didn't have hot water for most of the stay, as many times as I complained it would appear for a brief moment and would be cold again. A/C also didn't work for us a few times... The food provided as a part of the retreat was not vaired at all, very small selection every time in a buffet syle.

Dear RostG ... We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. Sorry to hear your had difficulties with the hot water during your stay! Our housekeeping team were perplexed as it was working each time they were testing it. The AC not working is certainly strange as they are brand new good quality units which have just been installed. We hope you did report this to our admin at the time and they were able to solve this. We will liaise with the restaurant team about the retreat menu, usually our guests are delighted with the food and variety. Once again, thanks for sharing your experience, we have taken notice of your points and always hope to improve for our future guests. Best wishes from Bali

I had an amazing time at Shala Bali. Everything was wonderful from a warm welcome the moment I landed & a welcome gift, to very friendly and kind staff and amazing food (some of the best food I had in Ubud. If I didn’t go on trips I would have eaten every day in the two restaurants they have an organic one and an Indian one. They have the best Masala Dosa and Kumbucha in the world). And of course most important my yoga classes: Ria is an excellent instructor. She adapted the classes to my needs, paid attention to details like I love and made sure I understood each asana better so I could practice later. The afternoon classes with her and with Ankit were also amazing, integrating what I learned in the morning. My body is much stronger and happier after this whole week. In my free time, I had a great biking trip, bird watching walk, a cooking class and spa treatments also at Shala. I traveled by myself and the atmosphere in Shala Bali made me really feel at home.

The staff at shala bali welcomed me into their hotel like I was part of their family. It was a beautiful bungalow, INCREDIBLE healthy food & amazing quiet tranquil vibe. I didn’t want to leave. All of the staff were beautiful and genuine. It was one of the best experiences I have had in Bali in 20 years. I will be back. Oka took care on making sure I had motorbike transport when I needed and was a safe driver. I felt very cared for as a female solo traveller. I had a wonderful time and plan on coming back and hosting a retreat. The main yoga shala is normally used for groups and not for guests traveling without a group, which I wasn’t aware of until I arrived. I would have loved to practice in the main shala, but there were no classes held there. The guest yoga is held in the studio above the cafe, which wasn’t my preference but that’s ok. The yoga teacher is fabulous and experienced- she took great care with me and I was lucky enough to be the only one in the class. I would have loved to practice in the bigger studio but that’s ok I will just have to come back. Thank you so much! A beautiful bunch of people who only want you to have an incredible experience. Outstanding service and location. I will recommend to all of my friends!
