Nearly 12 months between reviews - Ayana warranted an effort. This is as per the title - "fabulous". We travelled as family in September. Three couples including my mother who is getting a little older and has some mobility issues. Before I talk about the many many positives, there were a few small areas that must be flagged. For elderly people there are a lot of steps and not as many ramps or lift type options as one might expect. This can become demanding on what is a very big estate. We also needed to change mum's room as she was initially in a room type that had an in bath shower which was difficult for her to get in and out of. We asked for a change and this was immediately catered for so a big thumbs up on that front. Item two that needs to be flagged is the price of alcohol. It is completely over the top. We did a quick google search on a "popular alcohol retailers" website and noted that the Banrock station chardonnay selling in Australian bottle shops for about $6 AUD was about $90 AUD at Ayana. Even the humble Bintang was nudging $50 for a bucket of five. If you are staying any length of time, buy your alcohol at shops nearby and bring them in or expect a hefty bill on departure. Now on to the positives - and there are many - great range of eateries, loads of different pools, extra activities and most important, absolutely fabulous staff. We celebrated a birthday during the stay and would like to send special thanks to Jenny on reception and Kendra at To'e Ge for making that celebration memorable. Further thanks to Ayu also at To'e Ge for great service and Yunita at the Ayana Spa for looking after mum when she was a bit light headed after the spa session and Suky for an amazing massage. The Day Spa is a great experience with the thalassotherapy pool an absolute must do. If you are travelling to Bali definitely consider this place if resort style is your thing. The cleanliness is next level, the grounds are beautifully maintained and the location is ideal for those Bali sunsets.

We stayed at the Ayana for 5 nights in August 2023 and it was an amazing experience! The resort had so many things to do and explore that even on our last day we were still not able to indulge into all the activities offered. From the time we arrived, we were greeted warmly with flower garland necklaces and welcome drinks. Housekeeping kept our room clean and tidy during outer stay while we were out and they always left different towel sculptures everyday in our room which were fantastic and felt personal. The Resort staff are some of the nicest people I’ve met in Bali and they upheld very high standards in hospitality based on many other resorts we have been to. The resort itself is beautiful and the tram rides to Kobu Beach were quite fun; seeing the monkeys along the way as they play. Ayana also has a very user friendly app that you can interact with, to see all activities and make booking for dinner etc. The Rock Bar was a big highlight for us. It was different and a unique experience. Great food and good music! The ambience was impeccable. I must also mention that each restaurant we visited at this resort did not disappoint and their breakfast was very local and something I looked forward to each day. We made sure to grab a Jamu everyday while we were there. We really did have a great time at this resort and it is really worth staying. Jonathan and Sophia

Our stay at Rimba Wana was amazing. The room itself was spacious and clean. Plenty of options for pools around the 3 resorts. Restaurants were great and food quality was top notch. The team here are super friendly and we had the best time joining some of the activities that were complimentary to guests at Ayana. Special call out to Sheyllin for the Canang making class, Agung for the Farm tour, Rindik class and spending the afternoon with our little one. Dayu and Ayu for the Balinese dress up. Definitely one of the best experiences. Thank you Ayana and the team here for making the trip a memorable one.

First time to Ayana Resort as we wanted to try out a different 5 star resort and read good reviews. The service was great and the staff were very attentive. The resort is massive with 4 main properties (main resort, rimba, segara and the villas), 22 restaurants and at least half a dozen pools. There’s a tram that comes every 10 minutes to take you to the different areas each of which has its own restaurants, pools, bars. If you are into photography then this place is a must visit. Sunset and evening golden hour is the best time for shots and would recommend a visit to Kubu beach. We loved Scusa, Kisik/Kisik Bar and Sami Sami. The rock bar seemed nice as but bookings for the first sitting start from 17:30 and it was way too hot to sit in under the sun without shade for 1 hour waiting for the sunset so we left. They had some handheld umbrellas but it was still very hot. The second sitting was from 19:30 which was a bit too late for sunset but would’ve been nice for a drink. Seemed like a lot of people came for instagram photos rather than enjoying a relaxing time which is fine but can be off putting at times. There was a designated line for one part of the river pool for instagram photos which made that section un-swimmable. Was getting a bit of cabin fever by the end of the 5th day as there’s not much else apart from the ammenities in resort and you have to catch a taxi to get out of the resort. Overall I think 5-6 days is a good length of time to stay and it was a luxurious experience and the photos you can take are amazing.

We have been going back to Ayana since 2012 when we first went for my birthday. What an amazing, beautiful resort . It takes your breath away when you first walk in and look down over the grounds and out to the Indian Ocean . Access to the Rock Bar is so easy while staying there . You can visit Rimba , Segara & the famous Villa pool which is so good . This time we stayed in an oceanview room which was lovely . Thank you to all the beautiful staff who always make our stay so special . A special mention to Samhita who gave us the most warm, kind , professional service with a big beautiful smile looking after us breakfast & at Padi Padi. And a big thank you to the boys- Nara , Deva Kadek & Mika at Sami Sami Bar for your great service & lovely conversations . So great to learn more about the beautiful Balinese Culture . Sami Sami restaurant is our favourite place to eat day or night with such wonderful service & great Italian food . Wonderful chefs !! SukSema to you all & see you all again next year 🌺

Stayed overnight with my wife: 1. Check-in / check-out - We arrived the resort at around 10am. They are very strict with the check-in time of 3pm but they allowed us to use resort facilities. - The check-out is fast and efficient. 2. Facilities and pools - There are a lot of swimming pools in the entire Ayana estate. You can use all the other hotels' facilities even if you are staying at Ayana Resort. - The famous river pool gets crowded so go there early to take good photos. - Their shuttle service around the estate is efficient. Easy to go around the area. - Kubu beach was nice. 3. Room - We booked the resort view king room - Very spacious - Bath tub with free bath bomb - Complimentary 2 cans of Bintang beer, 2 cans of Sprite, 1 can of Pocari Sweat - Shower gel, shampoo, lotion are complete - Our room was 1265 which is a bit far from the main lobby. Suggest ask for a room closer to the elevators. - The room is old but still in good condition - Had a good sleep. Bed and pillows were comfortable. - Bottled waters were regularly replenished. - Separate toilet and shower area 4. Resort - The interiors are very nice - Awesome views - The structure is quite old but well maintained - The common toilets are also clean and decent. - The chapel is beautiful. 5. Staff - Very friendly and accommodating - They will assist you and make you feel at home - Service is great from all the establishments in the estate 6. Food - Breakfast buffet has a lot of options but nothing really stood out for us. All are decent but none was exceptional except that they serve different types of coffee during breakfast. - Breakfast buffet complete with Indonesian, Japanese, Indian, and Western choices. Juice bar was good. - The noodle wrapped prawns at the Rock Bar was very good. - Cocktails were okay. - Nasi Goreng and Iga Babi at Karang Restaurant at Ayana Segara were delicious. Our stay at Ayana Resort was very good. Staff service and facilities were top notch. Room per night is quite expensive but it was worth it. Recommend to stay here if you do not plan to go around Bali. Perfect for staycation.
