We stayed at Duplex Suites Room with kids, with couch / sofa bed. The room is suitable for family stay, breakfast was good and delicious even though not many selections but understandable considering the situation. New furbished reception and restaurant made the feelings modern and more bright. Intercontinental connect direct jimbaran beach so you can enjoy sunset view and walk to famous jimbaran seafood restaurants. It’s one of our great memorable stay.

First, let me say that this is not the fault of the staff but rather the management which still keeps selling this hotel to guests even in this understaffed and unmaintained state. Let's start with the check-in. We booked the premium duplex suite. This is the best room you could get here and doesn't come cheap. AC in the first room was broken so we had to wait several hours for them to try to fix it. After the failed attempts, we were relocated to another room. It took at least 3 hours in total for this. The duplex suite itself is very dark with only a single window in it obstructed by a tree. You need to keep the lights turned on all day to keep the room light. But some people might like it so this part is neutral. The hotel is under heavy construction which means you'll hear loud construction noises every day. Many hotel areas (inc. some toilets near the lobby) as closed & under construction. A lot of areas look very dirty or even broken with holes in them. I presume again due to the construction. The hotel is extremely understaffed. This results in visible poor maintenance on many levels. Our bathroom had a broken temperature adjustment handle. There was an actual bat (yes, the animal) hanging on the stairs leading from the room down to the ground floor. Under the bat, there were feces mixed with the blood dripping from it. I guess nobody uses the stairs in a 4-floor hotel so they don't maintain them? On **multiple** locations (it's about 50:50), bringing the outside food we ordered from the reception to the room required us to call them multiple times over the course of more than an hour (!). Each time, they said they will check and never got back to us so we needed to call again and again. Needless to say, the food was cold after an hour of sitting at the reception. Sometimes they'd also bring just one item of the ordered food and had to go back to search for the second one. Avoid booking the "buffet" breakfast - it's just some simple nasi goreng, cereals, and yogurt. Don't expect a real buffet, it's more like a hostel version of it. Not worth the price. Lastly, while all the cleaning staff is nice, friendly and polite, they, unfortunately, all seem to suffer from the same weird issue which we have never encountered in any other hotels. Something I'd never expect from a 5-star hotel of any brand, let alone Intercontinental. All staff doesn't use deodorant which leaves the room with a strong underarm sweat smell, needing us to ventilate it for an hour after they leave to get rid of the gym-like sweat smell. On the topic of smell, the pillows also had some weird smell to them. I can't quite identify what it is. The staff told is it was coming from the duck from which the pillow was made. The replacement pillows we got were a little better but still had a bit of smell to them. Again, never experienced this anywhere else. Not sure what the source of it is. I strongly recommend everyone to avoid this hotel until the renovation is finished and the hotel is able to hire more staff to improve the maintenance issues. The experience of such a poorly maintained hotel completely ruins the brand image of Intercontinental. Nice furniture (which even has some stains on it) is, unfortunately, the only good thing here.

This is my second visit in intercontinental bali resort, from august 13th to august 15th 2021, and so sad to say that their services are so poor this time. They degrade their room rate during the pandemic, but apparently they also degrade their services. They are still renovating some areas of the hotel, so the main lobby is closed, and one of the staff led me to the wrong room to do check in process, so I have to walk so far away just to do check in. First time I entered the room after check in, the room is so humid and smells like old room, that seems like nobody used this room for long time, and with a renovation project view I called the reception asked them to change the room. This is my fourth hotel in a week during my visit in bali, ( I stayed 2 nights in melia nusa dua, 2 nights in trans resort, both were awesome), and I'm very dissapointed with intercontinental bali resort, it doesn't seem like it's intercontinental, the 5 star hotel, their services make this hotel looks like 3 star hotel.
